At the 16:55 mark I immediately recognized a young Barbara Barrie in a 1962 episode of The Naked City. She’d be remembered for a lot of TV and film work ; the movie Breaking Away and as Barney Miller’s wife in that series.
great you saved this film. BCTV helped build the CTV network along with CFTO TV Toronto and all the other new affiliates across Canada. important history. i even worked in the studio there in early 1970s on Oscar Peterson Show. too bad they lost the tapes...
Allegedly CHAN and later the original BCTV was a Socred project Not officially of course but a bunch of individual people who happened to be connected to the party helped make sure it happened and it really fits in so well with the rest of the aesthetic that BCTV at its peak could have been mistaken for a govt ministry like our equivalent to BBC or CBC. Fascinating period of history in BC with so very little documentation.

They did everything they could to try to hinder BC building projects but had absolutely no problem getting down on their knees for colossal American corporations even at the expense of the workers they were supposedly protecting. Including using violence on said workers whenever they tried to actually organize among themselves when the bosses in the US disagreed. The "unions" seem happy now that almost all the BC public service has been privatized by billion dollar multinational corporations.
Children's programming where somebody was discussing a work from 'Der Blaue Reiter'??? What world was this...I want to go there. The children I teach in 2024 have never even seen a horse - of any colour - nor do they much care.
