- In this video we take a close up look at the EVH Bumblebee guitar by EVH gear. This guitar certainly is a gorgeous piece of gear, and it looks even better in person than on screen. The gloss paint job and fit and finish are perfect. And when you hear the sound demo you will see how wonderful this guitar sounds. No, it is not a super versatile guitar, but it does what it does very well and is probably in the best of it's class or among the best in class for the tone and playability. Eddie Van Halen sure knew what he was doing when he designed these guitars. Try one out and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed! It comes equipped with an EVH D-Tuna, 22 frets, Wolfgang hum bucker, maple neck and a basswood body. EVH tuners as well as an EVH branded Floyd Rose tremolo. Yeah the low friction pots are killer super smooth... They are made by Bourns(R) Pro Audio who is the EVH manufacture.. A little savings when purchasing 💸💸💸🤑💰 my wife & I would come & see you at your Gig but we are Maryland on the DelMarVa Eastern Shore.. Awesome Playing... Cheers 🎸🎵🎶🎼 🥃🥃

Hey Marty you need to get that guitar. I have watched many of your videos and that guitar is the best sounding . Your settings with amp were so good. You need to gig that exact set up. People will go crazy watching you play.

Lovely guitar! I wouldn’t mind an EVH guitar in any of their iterations. But I think that will remain a dream. Fortunately, I have a locking trem bolt and Dtuna to put on my Kramer Baretta Vintage, so close enough.

Excellent video, I enjoyed this. I have one of these guitars. The Wolfgang pickup is great. I seem to get pinch harmonics easier than my Kramer with a Seymour Duncan JB in it. I'd like to hear the difference in the Wolfgang vs the Frankenstein pickup. Rock on Marty

You're probably right. I know fender started avoiding stainless a while back. Cost savings I assume??? (For them)

Hell yeah man! EVH Gear is the best! Obviously I am biased....but seriously for the price I really believe Eddie made sure the quality was there in that he could pick up any piece from any store and play it at a show.

I read somewhere on the EVH site the Frankie they produce has a thin coat of lacquer. I do believe Eddie just painted his with spray paint.
I bought one that had the Seymour Duncan 78' in it. I like it with the lower output pickup (its around 9K) but the Franky pickup sounds great. Feel like I need to throw it in there and try it now.

Also, besides the used market and Sam Ash I notice that Sweetwater and Pro Audio Star run nice deals on these and other EVH products all the time.
Awesome guitar and playing! Unfortunately, no EVH-series guitar will ever look right to me with these truss-rod adjustment locations. The neck looks totally wrong in that case. I am not sure why they went that route but it looks like it's here to stay.

I got mine when they were $899. After Eddie died the prices went up. I also have the "Circles /See Ya" (aka The Unchained guitar) and that has been discontinued and prices for those on eBay and Reverb are $2,000 - $3,000. How is that Satriani guitar that's sitting behind you?
Cavities on mine were messy with rough routing. The problem I had was the neck needed to be shimmed. Using the trem was pulling the studs out of the body. The strings were almost touching the pickup. Raising the bridge fixed these issues but made the action way too high. The shim was what it needed. Not cool though for $1149! Oh, by the way, you sir are a monster player!

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker When Eddie passed, these sold out. They came back at a higher price point and I feel they were rushing production. The neck is really nice and the paint is beyond impressive. I feel they let me down on the assembly. I feel there was pressure to get them finished and out the door. It’s great now that I fixed it.

@@WickedFesterBand I returned mine with similar issues. My tech tried to float the bridge, which upsets the D-Tuna and action. I agree lovely neck, but didn't want to shim a brand new guitar either. I bought an Ibanez RG J Custom instead (it's incredible). I also found an EVH Shark at a pawn shop for $1400 AUD. I wanted to hate it, but it played and felt so good...I had to have it 😂
@@simonp9471 I shimmed mine then put a small maple block in the trem cavity to make it down only. Lot of work but it's good now. Shouldn't need that at that price point though.
What signal flow was that? Ace-FX? Sounded mega! I absolutely love the Frankenstein pickup. Works so well across all the EVH lineup. GREAT rock/heavy pickup.

The strats should have the R3 nut instead of the Wolfgang R2, at least mine do. I put a Strat neck on my WG standard with a little sanding in the neck pocket. Then put FU-Tone Titanium bolts and saddle string lock blocks and the big brass block with the Floyd Rose trem arm upgrade to take out the slop.
I have the red white black striped Strat.

I could almost swear that the EVH Striped Series were selling for around $699 when the were first introduced....the price has essentially doubled. You could buy an LTD M1 Custom for the same amount of money that has a Seymour Duncan TB-6 in the bridge, and a real Floyd Rose on it for only $1,200.

The neck is a little wide though, right? I played one in Paris years ago and bought a red/white one. I sold it cuz the neck was too wide. The one I played in Paris didn't feel wide. I should have bought that one, but I would've had to buy a ticket for it. Lol
I don't think so man, the neck on mine seems amazing. It actually felt easier and faster to play on compared to the EVH 5150 Striped Series guitar. This neck feels a bit slimmer than my 84 Kramer too. Maybe you just tried an off made guitar neck. 🤷🏻♂️🎸

Honestly, you could build one from parts for 1/3 of the EVH...
It takes two seconds to vacuum out those control & tremolo cavities, and tidy up that wiring. That shows lack of care in my opinion.

I own one of these and its horrible the pickup is almost touching the strings and you cant adjust it and the action is high and can be barely adjusted..Your paying 4 the paint job and its way overpriced...

The stripped series are great guitars but the reliced Frankie is a pile of shit. Evh is definitely screwing everyone over on the relic.
Did the original have the knob with TONE on it or VOLUME like Frankie.
