Ann-Margaret's performance was also stunning. She probably didn't need to pretend too hard to be excited and ecstatic while performing with Elvis as the chemistry couldn't have been more real.
Elvis wanted to marry Ann, but he had prissy pants hidden away in Graceland with the promise of marriage to her and her parents when she came of age. Fact is Elvis didn't want to marry priscilla by 1967, but it was too late he got himself caught in a trap by Prissy and her money hungry mother and stepfather. I believe Elvis truly loved Ann Margaret, but as Ann said Elvis had commitments and promises to keep. What a shame. Ann understood Elvis's sense of obligation and loyalty. In my opinion Elvis's obligation to Priscilla was misplaced. Elvis definitely cared for Priscilla, but he did not really love her, not in the true sense of the word. Nor do I think did priscilla truly love Elvis either. Ann in her book said that Elvis and she where soul mates, and I believe that. What a tragedy.
Elvis is his own story, like it or not. I personally favour his Nashville work and especially the early 60's like "Elvis Is Back" album, but also the TTWII an Elvis Country phase of the early 70's. Of course there is this revolutionary 50's artist too. But you cannot deny that all these Elvis movies - no matter what you prefer - are part of the story or picture, and build up to the overall picture. And like it or not - sometimes - things work really great in one of those movies, and it just does not matter what people think. This (Viva Las Vegas) IS a great movie, it still entertains, and it still works. This video clip shows it. I LOVE IT A LOT. Thanks!!!

when you look at the whole picture the whole body of work Elvis was the most talented. I don't think he gets enough credit for being as much of the diversitile singer he is I don't think he gets enough credit for being as great of a dancer as he was. the man could play the guitar could play the piano actually could write music he just decided not to the man can sing every form of music even in other languages. The only real friend of EP not to make money off EP and his legacy. Even deceased members and living members of the 'Memphis Mafia' have over the past six decades spoken positively of Ann Margaret more than Priscilla. Can't change history, but just by this scene, most EP fans really wished EP had married Ann Margaret instead. They were a match in heaven.
