I will start off by saying your videos have given me moments of relief. In the past 3 1/2 years I have had 4 surgeries: 3 back surgeries and one neck surgery. Four weeks ago I had my neck surgery and I am just miserable; however, when I watch your videos I don’t have to think about how I feel. Thank you for the mind vacation. I just finished In Memoriam by Alice Winn and I would recommend it. Anita 🇺🇸📚❤️

@@LaurenAndTheBooks Lauren, you are truly such a lovely person. I hear how you are feeling with your stomach issues. You just want answers! You are mentally and physically exhausted from the pain and all of the things that come with it. You are in my thoughts and I hope you get some answers soon. Just remember: You Are A Warrior!

Thank you for another lovely video, Lauren! I have a great recipe for home-made bathbombs with essentially the same ingredients you used for the bath salt mixture, but adding almond oil. That way you can put the mixture into a muffin tray for example and you get really nice bathbombs that hold together nicely and make lovely bubbles once they're in the water. : )

What a busy weekend -- I'm tired just watching. I like the way David makes birthday cookies. Somewhere along the way I've missed the name of the cookbook with all the yummy cakes. I like the way you cook through a cookbook.
Birnham Wood and I didn't get on at all DNF'd. The Vaster Wilds may have possibilities - reading it the Naturalist Book Club about 10 pages in.

I think bicarbonate of soda is equivalent to baking soda (rather than baking powder). Which is maybe why it's a bit dusty. I thought you did a fab job. It's so lovely to receive homemade gifts.

Lauren, just a thought, you should check for msg in the ingredients of sauces etc, my daughter had terrible stomach pains when she was younger, so we took her to have allergy checks done lactose and msg where the main culprits x

I’m a bit late to this - but in terms of jars Lauren, I use coarse salt, a little water & a good shake. Then let them dry in direct sunlight. It works for pretty much anything. The lids, however, are another story. Sometimes, they just can’t be saved 🤨 As always, thank you so much for the wonderful content 💚

I'm nearly finished with Safiya's Sinclair's How to Say Babylon on audio, it's a beautifully written memoir, and the audio is cracking!! The author's Jamaican accent is a delight. Hard recommend.

Doing my yearly reread of Pages for Her by Sylvia Brownrigg and loving it as always. I think it's just a book that came into my life at the right time. Also listening to All the Little Birdhearts, and I'm not sure how I feel about it so far. I don't really like any of the characters even a few hours in, but have heard such good things I want to keep going.

This is the most entertaining vlog Lauren. You are hilarious, I nearly choked on my tea when you said you’d nearly drunk your painting water! Your friend’s gifts were brilliant. Good luck with getting your steps in. I don’t know how you do it all. 🦘👏👏👏👏

I'm currently reading "Tangosommer" by Hiltrud Baier (I'm not sure if there is an English translation.). I'm exactly 100 pages in (out of 270). So far I'm enjoying it. It is set in Lappland (Finnland) (which was the main selling point as my brother is currently studying abroad in Helsinki and I'm going to visit him over Easter) and Germany. It is about a couple which only meets one week every summer in Finnland. The man, Phil, decides to visit his lover Riitta, even though it isn't their week yet. He goes on s roadtrip to Finnland with his daughter and granddaughter. At the same time, Riitta decides to visit him in the town where she grew up and met him. I like the different points of view of Riitta, Phil and his daughter and finding about life in Finnland. I'm unsure how their secret relationship is explained because they both cheated on their (now dead) partners. I'm also unsure about the way they met as Phil was Riitta's teacher and is quite a few years older. I'm not sure if this is going to be elaborated more. Overall, it is an easy read and so far I'm enjoying it but still sceptical about some of the themes.

Just a heads up that Small Things Like These (a wonferful book) is set around Christmas - in case that deters you from selecting it for an Easter book club. Foster by Claire Keegan is similarly small and beautifully crafted, as are all her other books 😊

The scent of the jars is probably in the lids. I keep jars and lids to reuse. But pickle jar lids smell. The lids are quite universal, so if I like the jar, I just use a lid of another jar.

You should have asked for a refund. And encouraged others to do so, as well. Economics. If the theater/cinema wants to keep their customers happy, they will boot irritants out faster. imho, of course 😂 Sorry that happened. ❤

The jars: maybe try filling with vinegar and leaving to soak overnight. Rinse and put dish soap and hot water and shake.. let soak a bit. Then bicarb and a few drops of essential oil let sit, add water and lid and shake. Let dry in a sunny window.. I have no idea if that will work but the is what I'd do! 😂

I watched the Women’s Non-fiction “with” you on the day, but several hours late, so I wasn’t in the live with you. I am interested in reading several on the list, but I think by the time I get them, the winner will already be announced! (Last year for the International Booker I was only able to read one book before the winner announcement, and it won! lol)

Were you adding baking powder to the salts or baking soda? Wondering if that contributed to the powdery-ness.

Hi Lauren i think Catton needs a good editor. For instance, she devotes a disproprtionate time, i think, to describing the characters in the eco wattior collective. Its as if she couldnt bring herself to cut it back wot shed written.. Not a favourite at all. Divides readers here in her native NZ as did The Luminaries.
