Just starting the video but just want to say thank you! No one else makes quality Alpha Strike guides like you do. Always look forward to when you make a new one.
I appreciate the compliment. I think my channel could definitely be improved but lots of baby steps :) It gives me motivation to try some new stuff as well, I really need to dig into some VTOL stuff too, it’s a weak area of mine in the game.
This was so incredibly helpful for me as a new player who got roflstomped in my frist game. I feel that i now have a fighting chance🎉 it would be wonderful if you could talk more about battlefield support, such as when to use what to use and when you would use it.
I like hearing this sort of talk. Me? I look at a bunch of minis and go "That looks cool!" I mean, it is really how we got the Wolf's Dragoons Party Bus at your tournament.
A few days after SA III and so much of what was explained here had so much play at the event. Yours and Jovans content has upped my alpha strike IQ by leaps.
Made a 250 points list: blood asp, rifleman iic, arctic cheetah, dasher, thor. All r missile boat or sniper. Two elementals as well. Looks like a fun list
absolutely solid advice on tactics. Feels like I'm listening to my old Chessmaster ("castle" = defensive posturing) I need to come down there and play some games with ya!
@@Thearmedpainter there is something to be said for gaining control of the center early, it makes it where you can then try to set the pace of the game, and constantly force your opponent to try and push on the center of the table, letting you know where they have to go....
I love Alpha Strike, but I love it even more on a hex map. There is less time used for discussing LOS and playing with measurements. It's also more comfortable for me for physical reasons, but it feels more Battletech to me as well. Anyway, thanks for the cool video. It was fun and useful info. Can we get some more battle armor information vids?
Nice pieces of advice! Is there a video that is a commented game that lets people who understood the basic rules learn strategies and tactics while watching a game? Like you talked about you need artillery to kill the Firemoth with the Battle Armor on it … why is that a fitting weapon to do it?
For this example the artillery can target the ground, bypassing the Fire Moth’s TMM. Artillery also hits everything underneath it, Battle Armor and Mech included. Standard damage would have a roll (per damage) to see if it hits the mech or the battle armor, artillery ignores this rule and simply hits both. Great way to deal with low life high tmm units like the Fire Moth and even more effective if they have ablative wounds in the form of Battle Armor hitching a ride :)
Love you work. I'm looking for advice for a 120 point list both IS and clan in early clan invasion all skill 4 for a AS league. Im a classic guy I can hum the tune of AS but I appreciate your madz list building skillz
I wouldn’t say I have mad list building skills lol! But I do like sharing my thought process on the game. At 120pts clanners are going to struggle, it’s really hard for them. I have a video on my channel going over Baseline Mech (or stats) and it covers a 33pt Mad Dog that at 120 pts would make for a solid start for a clan list. Can’t go wrong with a low point Dasher carrying a battle armor as well. For IS this is a little easier given the units they have access to they are cheap. I’m a big fan of the Hunchback 4P, load of damage for a medium for the points. Id snag a locust to field as well. I favor the crab at the lower point levels as well, TMM 2 and it’s overall HP is great. To round things out I think there is a Marauder and Rifleman in the sub 40pt range, one of those might be a solid pickup to round out a lance at 120pts.
Are you allowed to combine force types? Like, could I have a Dasher (Fire Moth) in my Inner Sphere forces? I ask because I only have Inner Sphere 'Mechs except for one Dasher and a Hunchback IIC.
It all depends on the era you are playing in and the agreement with your opponent. Pre clan invasion, no. Post Clan Invasion, good chance your faction might have access to the Dasher. If you and your friend just wanna play and this is all the minis you have? Play with em :)
Yeah man! I used to listen to him A LOT back when I was an avid 40k player. 5th edition was the peak of my social gaming experience with 40k. We were all poor, had cardboard buildings, but loved every minute of it. Shame GW's decisions edged me out.
Wargamer Fritz, that dude was doing youtube like 15 years ago when i first got into 40k. Weird looks like his current channel isn't the same as his old one becuase it's only been around since 2017
UA-cam deleted it and he had to remake it. He has some old videos where you could hear a movie in the background or something and they axed him for copyright issues.

Me too, however my AS group builds list competitivly and I get crushed each time. Now I am being more selective in my Lists.

If only I was good at chess lol
Excellent video, sir. Your enthusiasm for the game shines through in your work. Keep it up!
I'm going to be putting this info to use this week as I build a list for my first game 💪
Thanks for making these videos! It’a really helpful to hear not just the strategies but ideal times/opposition to use them against.
Excited to show off my Liao list. Can't wait to see what everyone else cooked up this year too.
This is good stuff.
Playing my third AS game soon, but at 1k pv. Hoping to not embarrass myself.
At 1K it should be a right blood bath! Lots of units on the field :)
I love play alpha strike. Great video
Great advice for us new guys!
What vehicle did Carrie use that can take a BA inside and have them ride along?
Hey there, I used a Heavy Hover Transport with a squad of tortoise II inside and Marauder battle armor riding outside using XMEC special ability.
^^^ and it’s devastating lol. Such a brutal combo for an initial alpha.

I want to try some tanks and stuff in my next AS game - any recommendations for IS and Clan vehicles for a newish player?
What era are you playing in? :)
@@Thearmedpainter I have only played in Clan Invasion era so far so I will probably keep doing that
@@AndyPaintsPoorly for the Inner Sphere in the Clan Invasion era, take a look at the Ontos 3058 refit, it is a tracked murder machine.
CONGA LINE!!!! 60% of the time, it works every time
See you at Southern Assault
asking yourself if you are talking really fast when I got this vid on 1.25 speed so I get to the stuff I wanna learn quicker xD
