    I just randomly got a point and shoot from my grandma and I knew basically nothing, this was a good place to start. I'm currently reading and rereading the manual and will hopefully buy film and batteries soon. Thank you for making this video it was very helpful :)

    Wow! I was blown away by the quality of your video, for many reasons stated by everyone on this comment section, but for me, mainly because of the photos, there are some great shots in there!
    If you could make a video on how to use some of the manual controls this cameras have that'll be amazing. I have a Contax T2 and I really want to make the most out of her while she's alive, so it'd be cool if you can explain a little bit about the aperture ring, exposure compensation and focal distance for certain situations. I have a very unusual Vivitar twin 1000 point and shoot camera. Basically has two different lens positions. You can switch between a wide and telephoto lens. The unusual thing about is when you load the film the motor does not Advance automatically you actually have to press the shutter button a few times to get it to the number one position. I'm currently using it for the first time so I don't know what the results will be. Despite being a basic camera it can still read the DX codes.

      Hey, thanks very much! I'm glad it was helpful. Keeping your camera in a room that has a humidifier running a lot may not be ideal long term. It could be worth keeping it in a container of some kind with some silica/desiccant packs, or in another dry place.

    is it right that only a DX film can load to the Olympus AF-1?
    Because I buy one from eBay and try to load it with a Kodak gold 200 and now after your video I am not sure it’s defect or just the wrong film, because it won’t load it.
    Best regards and greeting from Germany 🙋🏼‍♀️

    • @pushingfilm

      Hey, it should be able to load Kodak gold. Most likely it is just having trouble loading film in general. Did you try the tips in the section of this video talking about loading? If they don't work after multiple attempts, sometimes the loading is simply faulty.

    Last year I found Mju1 at home and with the first film, it worked but with second film, it flashes E when I had left only about ten shots. I opened the back tried to roll up and down and everything, thought it wasn't put properly and ofc didn't work. But after months the counting has been resetted. When I click the shoot button it shows 2 and goes on. Does it mean if I develop the new shots it comes up two different shots in one frame or just blank or it is actually okay?
    I couldn't find my answer in elsewhere, so please should I just toss it or keep shooting and develop it? It is my first time with film cameras.

    • @pushingfilm
      @pushingfilm  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, this a common fault that I've seen with Mju cameras, where the winding/counting acts up. There is no way for me to know for sure what shots would come come out in your case, sorry... So I guess if you do finish and develop the roll there will be a risk, but it's the only way to find out.

    Hi mate!
    Picked up an old point and shoot (AA battery type) went in and asked camera house if they could explain it to me and she wound the film in manually and my counter on top goes from “s” to “21” but seemed to stop quite quickly (around 3 seconds of winding the back wheel)
    Is this okay? Or have I just wasted a roll of Portra 😭😂

    • @pushingfilm
      @pushingfilm  4 місяці тому

      Hey! I'm really not sure, to be honest. The fact that it went from S to 21 is strange, but that could just be a faulty counter or something else.

    I still haven’t figured out the reason why my camera does this, but i put a new film roll in so it says 1 on the lcd but then a couple minutes later, it says 0 and so I pick it up and it starts winding to 1 again. Do you know the reason for this? Is the camera faulty?

      Hey. I've never used this camera, but looking it up online there seems to be a switch on the front for the flash which has an "OFF" option... perhaps your's is different? Unfortunately, some point and shoot cameras don't let you disable the flash at all.

    Ive been through plenty forums and flckr groups looking for an answer regarding pushing and pulling film on the olympus xa2, hope someone reads this and help a brother out. Due to the nature of the olympus xa2 and its aperture priority mode, if im shooting 400 asa film on a bright sunny day and then i switch to an indoor low light situation, shoot 5 frames at 800 and then go back to sunny conditions, (back to boxspeed) should i develop at 400 or 800?

    • @filmbyhari

      Nope, it'll be fine. When you put the new batteries in, it'll resume from where you last left off. Most cameras have a secondary battery for keeping track of the shots taken.

    • @pushingfilm

      @@putrizulaikha9964 It won't reset. It'll continue from the last shot you took before removing the batteries. If you took 10 shots on a roll and took out the batteries, when you put the batteries back in, the camera will simply resume from shot 11. The film won't advance or rewind.
