Thank you for sharing. My mother was 100 percent Norwegian. I have many traditions from her side of the family, and at 65, I'm continuing to learn and incorporate more.
Thank you. I had not heard the legend of the Yule Goat. I just checked the live feed at 1245 pm on 15th December. Happy to report all is well with the Yule Goat!
Thank you for adding to my Nordic knowledge and loved this section of the pattern. I didn't have to overcount! Looking forward to Day 16! What? It is going too fast.
55 years ago as a new bride, I bought the same small Yule Goat made of straw for our first Christmas tree. I still hang this ornament along with similar straw ornaments. Thank you for explaining the history of the Yule Goat, never too late to be enlightened.
This year I stitched a couple of little ornament kits I picked up in the Swedish community in Kansas, a Dala horse and pig. Now I will have to get the goat 😅. Love the information about the tradition, not so much the nut from Cleveland😂🐐
I love to hear about these traditions and how they have originated and changed through out the years. Sorry to hear about the guy from Cleveland, I am from the Dominican Republic but hav sliced and worked in Cleveland since 1991
Thank you Aura! It was quite funny I thought, how he got probably conned by a bunch of drunk locals to set the bock on fire 😂At this time, the Julbock is still standing proud in Gävle! :P
Thank you Teal! I've always been fascinated with them ever since coming across these small straw versions so it was super fun diving into their history! :)
Love the video. Could you imagine the discussions between thor and his goats the next day after the feast 😂 Of course, it would be my country. Would love to know if those mischievous locals still talk about their prank. And the Cleveland man. He'll be talked about for decades. Have a great day ❄️
Thank you! Hahaha yes - I would have loved to be a fly on the wall and hear that. The shade they'd be screaming at him 😂. And oh boy, Cleveland man... it's the best such stories I think, just so funny how the poor guy was so gullible as to believe some drunk locals and decided to "partake" in a local "tradition"... 😂
I moved to Ohio six years ago. That’s very believable about someone from Cleveland. lol I love my Advent pattern, but these poor little girls need heads. I think you’re being a bit of a tease leaving them in dresses becoming more and more lovely, but no heads. Love the videos!
Thank you Jacob for another fascinating topic! I so love visiting with you each day!
Thank you Rosemary! Makes me really happy reading that :D

It's wonderful that you continue your mother's heritage! :)

Thank you Deborah - glad you enjoyed it! :)
Another interesting tale, thanks!
Thank you! :)
