The price on these players are astronomical to say the least. I’m all for full uncompressed video and audio as well. But I’ll stick with physical media. They look and sound good enough. And don’t cost $12K!!

$12k? That's minimum. For a 48 TB storage unit that you'll likely need if you have/want a large movie collection, plan on spend ing $30k+ more, and then there's the movies which, for the most, part aren't cheap! Still, I prefer this over a fancy car.

As a physical media collector, I’d still want a copy of certain movies on my shelf. Quiet as it’s kept, collecting physical media isn’t just about the video and audio quality.

Reminds me of when I bought into D-VHS to get the highest quality format available and the only player that could output high definition video, several years before Blu-ray/HD-DVD. The format was fine, I guess, but within a few years it died off and they never really had very many titles. Huge waste of money, especially after the companies just pulled the plug and left their customers with a dead, useless product.

Seems nice, and I love the lights dimming aspect (if I were to ever have a home theatre one day), however if they are asking me to buy a physical box for it, I personally would rather stick to a 4K UHD player with my discs that have steelbook cases that I love to stare at ass I graciously put in my disc.

4K is good enough for me, this kaleidoscope system is crazy expensive. I can get a Zippitti player & 8 x 20TB drives and have over 3,000 movies or even the 4K Pro with 2 x 16TB drives and still have around 600 movies at my finger tips, and still have the option of switching the drives for more movies for a fraction of the price. I always have my Master 4K disc and usually the Blu-ray Disc as well, & digital version as well. It takes time to rip but it usually only takes about 40 mins to rip a 4K movie and is totally legal.
I play movies on a 25’ screen and I have no complaints about the video or audio being bad, still sounds better than any theater I have been in because my theater is setup for my seats, not a room 75’-125’ long, those theaters have a sweat spot which is 2/3rds the way back but still has it down side as they still have to fill the entire theater with sound.
I have around 100k in my theater and I love it, and that is the building in that cost as well, a 35’x60’ building, even has a concession area in the front that extends under part of the stair case seating and doors on the left side that enter into the theater room that does not let in light from the front. The small 2nd story room that is on top of the concession area houses the electronics and projectors, if I really wanted to I could set it up for public showings and upgrade it to the digital systems they use in the big theaters.
I live in a very small town and the only decent theater is 70+ miles away, and would cost me approximately150.00 to go watch 1 movie, and I live to watch movies is why I built this theater. I know most people cannot afford a private theater so I do let people watch movies in it, not a snob like I am sure some people with money would be. My only deal is, that everyone MUST be freshly showered, clean clothes, no kids jumping or running around, all drinks must have screw caps, and paper towels or wash cloths must be used to wipe hands before touching any controls. I have special shoe coverings for shoes (or must be used on feet with socks to make sure no fungus like athletes feet is deposited on my carpets, all this to help keep dirt, oil, and other contaminants off my carpets, it is kept very clean and smells like leather and fresh carpet, room it kept at 70 deg year round.
But even with all that, this kaleidoscope system is to costly as I do not buy digital content only as I got burned by Amazon Prime when someone hacked my account and I lost approximately 4K-5k in movies as they pulled my access to them, never to get access back, so 4K has to be good enough as I will not EVER trust digital content only again, if I cannot have a copy of the movie on physical media, then I guess I just don’t have the movie in my collection.

This sounds like the definitive way we'll be enjoying movies for decades to come, but it's biggest downsides is it's cost is EXTREMELY unfriendly to consumers, people barely have enough money to scrape by let alone have anything over $2,000 like this.
This is also another case of the purchase not truly being owned by the customer, as it'll only be able to operate with Kaleidoscape which defeats it's purpose of bridging the gap and I don't see any of these studios willing to allow that full ownership in the digital age like you would with physical.

When you have that many titles, it's literally impossible and quite frankly, annoying. Add to that children, add to that your children giving movies to their friends or your so called friends mysteriously putting discs in their backpack and damage.
However, I have 2.5G internet and I have zero desire to set up and manage another NAS to store purchased content locally. I have children and I have grandchildren so I also need to have movies stored on everything from a phone or tablet. I don't have a problem purchasing another streaming device, but from what I read, you're required to download and store your purchased movies locally. This may have made sense back in the era of DSL. Alternatively some mega yacht, a wide-bodied private commercial jet or an exotic island in the middle of nowhere.
BTW, if my memory serves correct, they're compressing these files down 4 to 1 ratio compared to theatrical versions.

Actually, no, Kaleidescape is only slightly better or exactly the same as the disc version. It uses the same studio mezzanine file used to create the CONSUMER disc master (or the files wouldn't be compatible with standard consumer grade video and audio equipment). Sometimes, a studio will not license the Dolby Atmos or DTS: X track or delays it to KScape, but will include it on the 4k disc. KScape also does not include Dolby Vision (12 bit or 10 bit variances) whereas a 4k disc can. If they go out of business (as they almost did in the past), your expensive hardware and collection start to become obsolete. I guess if you're rich, you wouldn't care and just reconstitute your collection elsewhere. Most people aren't rich.
The primary DTS or Dolby encoded audio tracks are the EXACT SAME consumer grade lossless files that are included on Blu-ray disc sans immersive audio, as I mentioned above, on various occasions. You are not gaining any benefit from a KScape file in this instance. There is nothing magically special about the audio provided by KScape.
