Imagine listening to this at the height of the pandemic some yrs ago. Felt that this was the most ideal song to inspire a sense of hope, uplifting and calmness for ppl's anxiety&fear with all the tragedy and loss that was going on during the pandemic. Listened to this repeatedly and a lot of other ppl did too at the same time some yrs ago. Unfortunately when he appeared in America Got Talent in the 2019 fall season, it was the start of the pandemic and there was the fiasco of the superfans/producers already choosing a winner for the show. Look around for his appearances and you'll notice he can switch pitch in the middle without taking a break in singing.

You said you had reacted to Marcelito "covering The Power of Love by Celine Dion." By the very definition of "cover song," only the original version can be "covered," and since Jennnifer Rush both wrote and recorded the original version, Marcelito was covering Jennifer Rush, not Celine. Celine's version, just like Marcelito's was a cover of Rush's original. Even Laura Branigan had a hit cover version of the song before Celine got around to doing her version. I point this out only because music industry folks are very sensitive about credit where credit is due and, in this case, Jennifer Rush deserves all the credit for that song.

The technique is called doble kara and Marcelito is a master at it. More well known and admired in the Philippines where Marcelito is from but still rare. You must hear Morissette and Marcelito singing Secret Love Song together on an awards show. They had been on a weekly tv show before this and are good friends. I realize reading the other comments that you do not know Marcelito background story. He was left to raise himself alone on the streets when his mother deserted him when he was 7. His father was in prison. He was on the streets alone until he was in his teens. He sang to himself to comfort himself. He did odd jobs to try and feed himself. As he reached his mid teens he was old enough to get a job in a poultry factory. He continued to sing. He could imitate singers he listened to. He was able to memorize lyrics in other languages when he was only fluent and understood his own Tagalog language. As an adult, he won Philippines Got Talent. Years later he came in 4th (highest placed singer) on America’s Got Talent International competition. He’s married with one child. He travels the world performing but always returns to his hometown. He’s started charities to help others in need like he was as a child. He so talented and very humble. He has a cute sense of humor. At the end of this song, he laughs and turns and coughs.
