I won the Florida Tournament in Bird Bowl where the game originated in the mid 90's. 1st place which was Leather Jacket from Nintendo with the Ki Logo Embroided. I also took pictures with the creators of the game and they had told me the picture was going to be in Nintendo Power. I never got to the see the magazine but I do have the Jacket. Been trying to find anyone that had pictures from those times would be amazing. No one would dare try to play me during those times I have the game memorized including all combos, juggle moves, combo breakers in one hit. Playing me was like playing the computer on Hard x 100.
@@Pokarface7 Thank you I didn't know I just found it online....Im literally going issue by issue since 1994 to 1996 to find it...I now im in there. The tournament was in Bird Bowl in Miami where the first KI was in our area.
@ 1: 59:25 The man playing did a combo with Jago (11 hit King Combo) vs Saberwulf. So he does a 11 hit combo that did atleast 55% dmg without knocking them down and comboed 2 flying heel kicks for his ender!!! Can someone explain that too me. Was it a speed up move at end ? I tried hold MK, do motion, release. Nothing comes out and wouldn't that knock them down at 10 hits anyways ? I thought you have to have a flashing line from doing a combo breaker to do both speed up and shadow moves in arcade.
When I say I can play these old arcades street fighter,Killer instinct & Mortal kombat all day, Im soo glad they made a way to bring em back in new mini cabinets so I can relieve the memories back home, Waiting in line to play KI & UMK3 was worth the wait & money
Can someone please explain at 1:59:25 the 2nd combo Jago does on Saberwulf. I learned Cinders infinite from watching this guy play, 1 day practice already got it past 80 hits. This Jago combo makes no sense tho, is it a speed up move at end ?
At least now I can confirm that Jago stage background was supposed to look like that and it wasn't just some emulation screwup. Always wondered why the SNES version had a nice background yet the arcade version is just pitch black
@prehistorik the golden age of fighting games is long gone. i used to work at an arcade when i was in high school, back when SF2 CE was out. there were lines of kids with their tokens stacked in pyramids on the screen waiting for their turn either at that game or fatal fury or mortal kombat. i personally was a fan of king of the monsters(i miss that game) but my point is that those games were something that rookies could get into and yet were deep enough that the more experienced players could
Back in the days on sns I can do good combos easy on the controller. but now i can't seem to figure out any good combos on the arcade1up cabinets it's hard as hell.
Pienso lo mismo ni siquiera saben la regla del combo breaker ya que todos los combos que hicieron eran quebrables saludos World champion de killer instinct snes
@prehistorik? oh, no charge moves? no other character in the game uses quarter-circle, half circle moves? no teleportation moves? no character chains weak moves into strong moves for combos? why did they have to use 6 buttons of varying strength, ala SF? why couldn't they come up with a different attack scheme? and i'm not even taking character design into consideration.
I love the way the original Killer Instinct looks but I much prefer KI2's gameplay. I wish Microsoft would release KI2 HD Remix complete with on-line play on the Xbox 360.
I loved playing KI on snes, still play it sometimes. Im not too fond of the new KI on the xbox, all the fighting games these days all look the same. Looking at the vids people uploaded, im not really a fan of the 100+ combos with juggles. Personally I wish most games didnt have juggle & theres a limit to how long a combo you could do. While this may limit a player I feel it improves gameplay with all the combo breakers/counters.
Actually juggle gameplay isn't that important, there are probably 2 characters that have decent juggle combos and that really doesn't make that much damage. The core style is a lot more (if not most) about mind reading combo breakers and baiting lockouts. Personnaly, it made me love 2D fighting games as I was more of a SoulCalibur player, and it resembles Street Fighter more than juggle based games like BlazBlue/Guilty Gear/MVC3 etc...
i didn't need to know how to perform the most advanced moves in KI in order to have fun. i can't speak for melee because i never played it, SF4 tournament players will thrash the casual player. what about the rock, paper, scissors system of KI2? i thought that was annoying compared to the first game, but you obviously enjoyed it. a single fighting game can be enjoyed by the novice and the expert alike. have you seen the dojo mode for KI3?
Yes she does have a resmblence to an MK character and yes the art style is somewhat similar to SF4 BUT see the game in person and not on a youtube vid and it blows any fighting game visuals away. Also they are listening to fans on what to fix/add. Even graphics... like earlier build didn't have the crazy blood it does now also an earlier build didn't have the camera zoom out like it used to... now it does. all i'm sayin is play the game before you antagonize it, u might just like it
You are correct, I do not know exactly what Ken did. Just because he was involved with (or even spearheaded) KI 1(and/or) 2, does STILL not prove that he knows anything worthwhile. He could have been a figurehead/spokesperson.
MK and Streetfighter. I am not belittling the game in any way as I will still jump at the chance to play it if I can, but I pointed out to Mr. 666 who likes to style himself as an expert KI player and yet either doesn't know or is to arrogant to admit how much SF influenced the game.
again, i am not talking about the new Ki game. i don't know why you keep bringing that up. the more advanced elements, like ultra combos, were a logical progression from simpler combos and super moves, which SF was rocking before KI came on the scene. KI then took those gameplay elements and then went nuts with it. all the high level techniques were based from these basic moves, but no one would mistake KI for SF. it can still be heavily influenced and yet still retain its own identity.
Even though the new KI may not look like Killer Instinct in it's true form, it is a balanced so far for good competition, matches, and sponsored tournaments, this one though is just a classic for playing casual friends or random people who don't know the bugs. It is just not built for serious tournaments though, way too many bugs and glitches

@prehistorik come on now, you and i both know that it is one thing to perform a combo in practice/trial mode and an entirely different thing to do it with a real player. having a game teach someone how to perform a combo in no way guarantees them victory. it's practically like teaching them how to perform a fireball. the very people that would use these features are the ones you would never play with. maybe it's because fighting games provide tools that enable people to learn faster than ever?
