I quite enjoyed the censorship of HIMYM... it was witty and didn't seem out of place because it was a story by a father to his kids. A welcome change from shows that smack you with expletives and crass jokes for no reason. The bawdy humour in HIMYM was understated, so more palatable imo
So this one is set in 2021, which means if it does connect to the original: SPOILER It'll be 9 years before the original (non alternate) ending, in 2030. If the original is the "canon" ending, then it'll be three years before the Mother's death and five years after Robin and Barney's divorce. So the original gang would be going through some of the flashforwards we saw in Season 9 (and before). It would be cool to see a guest cameo or something. Maybe one of the original gang plays a part in this new series. (Ie, Ted bumps into Hilary's character and gives her some important advice, Marshall gets a press release for capturing Nessie, etc).
They just have to show as a nodd to the old show, that in the end Robin and Barney got back together and Ted and Robin was just a drunken dream. Hell, maybe if let the mother live.
I agree with you. If Robin and Barney end up together I will be happy. The last season was not my favorite. Maybe we get to see Marshall as a judge? I think that’s what he was aiming for?? (I haven’t watched the show).
I would've switched out the laugh track one for something about NOT botching the finale. I don't mind laugh tracks, but I do mind that the original series botched their finale! Plus: HIMYM, despite being a defining show of the 2000s, had a few other problems, like the slightly homophobic jokes, or deriving humor from Barney's behavior toward women... And about women. Also, HIMYM played jump rope with the line between "too safe" and "too much." Plus, HIMYF is definitely a multi-camera sitcom. And without a laugh track, a multi-camera sitcom is pretty much a funny soap opera. Or awkward, like many sitcoms with the laugh track removed would be. A single-camera sitcom (such a misnomer by the way) is fine without a laugh track because the more detailed/dramatic camera work in those can replace the laugh track to emphasize the humor.
I wanted to write that having a better finale must be on the list. But then I realized that original HIMYM finale was so bad that there is no way that this new show would have worse finale. If if they killed off the main protagonist, it would still be better than that infamous last 10 minutes of the HIMYM.
This seems like a list just to talk about the new show. 1) I don't care if it has a laugh track. As long as they aren't doing it at stupid times that make no sense, it should be fine. A better entry, and further up the list, No Misogyny and Narcissism as personality traits of the characters. Barney was obviously bad, and I'm convinced it was to overshadow ted being a piece of shit narcissist. Barney at least became a better person, we still see ted doing his shit in season 9. Also, stop perpetuating the idea that everyone has a soul mate! That's just bullshit invented to couple people up! 2) It's pretty clear that shows today have more diverse casts. You can already see that in this show, this was a throwaway entry. A better option, do the old sitcom story morals, calling out bad things with examples seen in the show. I've only seen two seasons of Fuller House, but from what I saw, they only had one storyline that could remotely hold a candle to the quality of the original show and how it would have good life lessons. 3) It's already from the woman's perspective, seeing as it's Hilliary Duff as the star. Another throwaway entry. 4) Nods and callbacks to the HIMYM would be cool, so would having members of that cast making appearances, even as their original characters would be kind of neat. An actual entry. 5) As I said above, guest appearances, same universe. An actual entry. 6) Yes, what if this one dies almost as fast as How I met your Dad. I think that one got a pilot before it was canned. An actual entry 7) Yes! Running gages and catchphrases can help keep a show alive. If this one is good, I hope it sticks around. 8) Yes! Fucking Let fucking adults fucking swear for fucking fucks sake! 9) Fuck Yes! If you can tell a good story in 5 seasons and leave the viewers wanting more, let it end in 5 seasons! 10) Yeah, again, the original cast makes appearances would be good. A better number 1) would be, Don't kill off the father as a series-long joke to say, "Hey kids, is it alright if I date your uncle " That ruined what was already an emotional ending to HIMYM.
I'm still mad that Disney+ dropped Lizzie 2 before giving it a chance instead of moving it to Hulu, but this does seem to have some of Lizzie's spirit if not her name. Looking forward to it (a lot more than I ever was to HIMYM, which never once appealed to me) (sorry fans, just my opinion)
@@bluex610 My apologies. When I wrote the comment I didn't know anything about the timeline of the new show or when it would take place. I concede that I was definitely way off on this one.
I don’t know about the laugh track thing, because I really liked their addition and in most mockumentaries the silence in the scenes not only does it not promote laughter but also suppress it, at least that’s how I always felt. Because even when you’re hanging out with friends and someone tells a joke, the multiple laughs from everyone is what encourages even more laughter even if it was involuntarily
I see no problem with the "laugh track" as it's not a "laugh track" per se. A television programme can be recorded before a live studio audience, who will laugh. Or, it can be recorded with no audience and be aired in one of three ways: 1) As recorded, no laughter. 2) With canned laughter added. 3) Played before a studio audience and their laughter added in for the actual broadcast. HIMYM used the 3rd technique. Canned laughter can be horrible, as there is sometimes laughter when nothing funny has been said or done.

I want 3 things in the show- 1) features of the old cast 2) Kids from HIMYM 3) Robin Sparkles ( at least another character who has a pop star career when they were a teen)

I will definitely be watching it ! I am so super excited to see this show. Way to go to all of you. Congratulations 🎉🎉 on this new show
I’m fine with them taking until the last season to show us the father, I just don’t want them to lead all of it up just to be a twist and them go for someone else at the end. In HIMYM the twist should have just been the mother was dead.
Starting with 10 eps doesn't mean it'll continue that way. A new show often starts with few eps, so they don't waste too much time, money & effort if it's unsuccessful. S1 of the US remake of The Office has only 6 eps.
Only odd thing to me is it seems that they’re starting with the characters already in their 30s. I would’ve expected them to go with a younger cast to relate to a new generation of fans. We will see how it is, hoping for the best (:
10) Laugh tracks are ok if they are not overused. HIMYM was about ok dose of them 9) No one cares about more diversed and inclusive cast. They are supposed to be good and funny, not treated as checklist. 3) Why? It's a story being told to teenagers, so it's logic that Ted used a little "censorship" 1) Yes! Yes! Yes! MORE BARNEY STINSON!!!!
I actually loved the censorship as that introduced one of the best running gags, ie, the sandwich XD and it makes sense yk, he's telling the story to his KIDS.
Even in very multicultural cities such as NYC, it's common for a small group of friends to be all white, so a show shouldn't be criticised for not having at least one non-white character. Likewise in relation to all the main characters being straight.
Only s9 of HIMYM is disappointing, so it doesn't last far to long. It doesn't take that long for Ted to talk about how he met Tracey. As his kids say to him, the story is primarily about him being in love with Robin.
If you're going to call it how I met your father, it needs to have the same formula. Extremely self referential, with flash forwards and flash backs all the time
The problem with the series finale wasn't that we didn't see enough of the mother but that we saw too much of her. Putting Ted and Robin back together after killing off the mother was just infuriating. By the time Tracy's ending was revealed we had too much invested in the mother. If the original intent was to reunite Ted and Robin Tracy never should have been introduced.
Some shows can pull off the laugh track. Some can’t. HIMYM pulled it off. I enjoy it. I don’t laugh just cause of the laughtrack... wtf who does that??? I just like it because it affects the overall tone.. But i usually always have something playing for white noise. To not feel so quiet at home. I wouldn’t like empty pauses all the time. It feels like you’re with people in a way in some laugh tracks.
And that's a problem. All these sequel shows that happen always like to say bring in a new audience. That's the reason the ICarly revival works for the most part because they said it's for the original and not a new audience but a new audience can tune in.
Lots of sitcoms have a live audience but get labled as laugh tracks. And though HIMYM didn't have a live audience because of all the flashbacks and jumping around, they DID play the episode FOR a live audience and they recorded their laughs. But Friends, Seinfeld, and The Big Bang Theory for examples all had actual live audiences, not laugh tracks.
They are already focusing on diversity instead of jokes and they will make sure no one gets offended. I doubt it will last a whole season before it gets cancelled.
i definitely want to see cameos from the legacy cast or homages to their characters, i could also see this show being stretched out for a couple of seasons.
Season 1 only 10 eps? The 1st season is where a show tries to find its footing so that may not be enough eps. I know Maloney had like 10 or 12 eps before it got canceled, it was still trying to find its footing. I figure a sitcom should have at least 20 eps to try to find its footing but we will see. Shows can bounce back after a bad first season ie Parks and Rec. Hopefully the creators this time around won't make an ending years before the series ends, only for it to not make sense anymore. Will this series take place at the same time as himym or before or after? I guess we will find out, this series will be judged constantly to the original.
imagine they have an episode how they somehow here about what really happened during the pineapple incident, or a slap bet is made, or NPH cameos and hits on one of the girls then bonds with charlie over suites and then tries to teach the guys some plays
13:13 also, It's not like they died in HIMYM. They are still around in New York after all, maybe except for Robin. But they definitely could and should do that
A few on this list really shouldn't be on here since that's already been confirmed (like the diverse cast, which mojo LITERALLY showed the main cast from a pic, showing that it was already pretty diverse, meaning that's already a given and not something to hope for, as well as the female perspective which we know is already the case thanks to the show focusing around Hillary Duff's character and having a female narrator as we found out in the trailer).
Number #0 *the parent mentioned in the title is alive* Tbh I may be the only one that wasn't bothered by the mother being deceased, rather than the writers barely giving us the minimum reason to like her. *OR* if they are killing the father, they need to: 1. Specify what disease he had and *not* allow it to be cancer cuse that is the ultimate TV show cliche/tell us there was car accident or something 2. Let us meet the guy so we can cry for him. The reason I did not share a tear for the mother was because she barely had any personality 3. Let him be a part of the gang for some time, maybe hide the fact that she knew the father ie in high school or college and then they start dating later on
I actually really hope there aren't cameos from the original cast. The show needs to be good on it's own, and not rely on fan service or help from its predecessor.

The father NOT being dead is my only request for this show
And Hillary's character not ending up with someone the show repeatedly shows would not make a good match for her.
10) Laugh tracks are ok if they are not overused. HIMYM was about ok dose of them
9) No one cares about more diversed and inclusive cast. They are supposed to be good and funny, not treated as checklist.
3) Why? It's a story being told to teenagers, so it's logic that Ted used a little "censorship"
1) Yes! Yes! Yes! MORE BARNEY STINSON!!!!
11:22 that scene always have me in tears.
So crazy that this video came out the day Bob Saget died.
I actually loved the censorship as that introduced one of the best running gags, ie, the sandwich XD
and it makes sense yk, he's telling the story to his KIDS.
Even in very multicultural cities such as NYC, it's common for a small group of friends to be all white, so a show shouldn't be criticised for not having at least one non-white character. Likewise in relation to all the main characters being straight.
No
Every friend group of 5 will have 1 black person and one Asian at least
Every one
@@MrJambola123 Doubtful. I mean it's more common in the NYC, but every group? Nah. More like every # in # groups.
Barney: "EDWARD THIS IS AUDREY!!"
Ted: 😠
Only s9 of HIMYM is disappointing, so it doesn't last far to long. It doesn't take that long for Ted to talk about how he met Tracey. As his kids say to him, the story is primarily about him being in love with Robin.
If you're going to call it how I met your father, it needs to have the same formula. Extremely self referential, with flash forwards and flash backs all the time
it will never top how i met your mother !! but i'll still watch it tho !!
So, a story about how I met your mother without ever mentioning the mother or talking about meeting her?
So basically we would watch a show about how he met their mother without him meeting her? Doesn’t sound right
When the original creators are part of a project it’s always good
Some shows can pull off the laugh track.
Ur assuming it’s for fans of the original
Maybe it’s intended for a new audience
And that's a problem. All these sequel shows that happen always like to say bring in a new audience.
That's the reason the ICarly revival works for the most part because they said it's for the original and not a new audience but a new audience can tune in.
I think one of the mothers friends should be on the background watching space teens
Fudge supreme cameo would be legendary that or a Barney being one of their friends dad's.
I bet this show lasts maybe 2 seasons.
I say it will last one season.
They are already focusing on diversity instead of jokes and they will make sure no one gets offended. I doubt it will last a whole season before it gets cancelled.
@@FrancoEnElMedio Yes because diversity will ruin the perfect yt shows so sad
If there are any cameos the first will be barney. NPH loves doing this shit
I wanted to see HIMYM from Tracy’s perspective. Anyway, this is my favourite show, I don’t mind either.
I only want one thing! Cameos from OG members!!! Nothing else!!!!
why this is not a spinoff or have anything to do with himym
@@jimbo9208 Bro watch the video
@@vedantkadam7952 did
Yeah, but the thing about future Ted not cursing is because he's telling the story to kids, and it makes A LOT of sense.
i definitely want to see cameos from the legacy cast or homages to their characters, i could also see this show being stretched out for a couple of seasons.
I just wanna see Barney hit on one of the main cast
I just hope they don’t ruin the show at the end like they did with the original🙏🏻
So excited to watch HIMYF
I believe this is only airing on hulu and not network tv, could be the reason
imagine they have an episode how they somehow here about what really happened during the pineapple incident, or a slap bet is made, or NPH cameos and hits on one of the girls then bonds with charlie over suites and then tries to teach the guys some plays
Funny should be at the top of the list. Even if it has little to do with the original as long as it makes people laugh it'll keep me around
I disagree with #3. I want to see Hillary's character censor content for her children just like Ted did.
Let me know when the series is over. Lesson learned. I don't intend to waste another several years of my life just to watch a terrible ending.
NOOO! The laugh track is what makes a classic style sitcom a classic style sitcom! Don’t cut it!
It's fun to hear the driver speak persian on an American show.
I give the spin-off one or two seasons before it’s cancelled.
I love the love the laugh track
13:13
also, It's not like they died in HIMYM. They are still around in New York after all, maybe except for Robin. But they definitely could and should do that
I kinda want to see Barney hitting on Hilary Duff character or even the roommate
I’m actually really excited! And Hilary Duff is awesome!!
I disagree with complaining about the length. Himym was the perfect show.
We need to see barney cameo and saying legen.. wait for it...
very very great fun list I like it a lot very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever ❤
I just wanna see ted & tracy having cameo 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Let’s settle this debate:
Who should have Ted ended up with?
A) Victoria
B) Robin
C) Stella
D) Zoey
E) Tracy (the mom)
Who do y’all think??
The mom!🙏❤
Robin!
Isn't Bob Saget the narrator
Just bring the original cast back man ffs 😭😔
This one does not look to bad. But HIMYM is my favorite sitcom of all time.
#1 thing: Hilary Duff and Chris Lowell end up together. PIZ NEEDS HIS HAPPY ENDING
what if these shows were/are successful exactly for the reasons you want changed?
I hope we get a new slap bet in this new HIMYF series. If they do a new slap bet I want it to be between Charlie and Sid.
Maybe barney is the father😂😂
Number #0 *the parent mentioned in the title is alive* Tbh I may be the only one that wasn't bothered by the mother being deceased, rather than the writers barely giving us the minimum reason to like her.
*OR* if they are killing the father, they need to:
1. Specify what disease he had and *not* allow it to be cancer cuse that is the ultimate TV show cliche/tell us there was car accident or something
2. Let us meet the guy so we can cry for him. The reason I did not share a tear for the mother was because she barely had any personality
3. Let him be a part of the gang for some time, maybe hide the fact that she knew the father ie in high school or college and then they start dating later on
I actually really hope there aren't cameos from the original cast. The show needs to be good on it's own, and not rely on fan service or help from its predecessor.
wait, it actually IS a show already...? what?
My big two are:
No laugh track and 6-7 Seasons but no more. Ted got really pathetic in the last three seasons
According to behind the scene trivia they recorded a live audience laugh while watching a showing of this.
Don't forget about the show Frasier, it took 2 seasons for it to stand on its own after Cheers!
It would be cool if they made a nod to the bar
