I loved this game. I know it had nothing to do with the originals but just the entire concept of the the demons representing urban decay and media corrupted. The levels were absolutely gorgeous too.
I think it’s more clever then the original. It’s as well okay, but it wasn’t that good. In DmC they tried to show the connection to real world, the struggle, changing and suffering. Dante changed throughout the game from careless rebelión to the one that is ready to protect humans and consider himself as one, put other people’s priorities above his own. After the damage was done when the Lilith was killed he doesn’t want to go further cuz people are dying, but Vergil says like “it’s too late” and Dante knows he can’t say no anymore, since otherwise those who died already will die in vain. So, he goes for it knowing that there will be incredible damage and loss, then when he gets betrayed his loosing his mind of anger and asking “who am I?” Is thinking who could’ve done something like that, almost killing his own brother. It was indeed a beautiful change, doubt and struggle, his understanding that he belongs to the world and can make a change since he can switch between limbo and real world. In original Dante sees his brother and he’s almost like “whatever”, and yeah, in the first game he really gets it closely to the heart, but he doesn’t change, even in the last game he acts the same (since it’s pretty much a fan service), but DmC tried to get somewhere with a story, different design and story telling. It was really good but fans only wanted “the same thing”, which is sad
@@konnyvans I think the Best friends LP summed up the issue with this game, it isn't a BAD game but its a bad dmc game because it basically shits on the fans of the original which unfortunately was the fanbase they're trying to get to. DMC isn't FIFA or COD where theres a guaranteed audience even if its a terrible game they had to win that dmc crowd and they just shat over them which is why so many turned on it. Even i got to admit if this game didn't have the dmc label i might have liked it but I didn't like the characters portrayal, except for Mundus he was pretty cool
@@konnyvans The issue with DmC is that it's incoherent, and certain things don't add up. It's all quite random, like Vergil's betrayal. Dante's random mindset and change of heart despite not caring about anyone but Kat but then he proclaims to be the defender of humanity, (cue helicopters because that means everything is safe again) the usage of Mundus as a whole was poorly done compared to the original DmC concept which was supposed to have him torture Dante as a child, leading to a more developed storyline than Dante randomly engaging Mundus at the end. Mundus was supposed to actually be more important than a simple plot device. The level design is amazing. The OST is fantastic. Gameplay is even decent and lit. But the story brings it down heavy. There's nothing worth investing in besides a story that's worst than it's original concept. Vergil was supposed to play a way bigger part and moreso. And the whole, "who am I" thing just doesn't even make sense, considering Dante never had a moral dilemma with himself prior to this, and there's absolutely no reason why Vergil and Dante couldn't of just talked about this. It turns into a blood kill match out of nowhere with almost no context other than, "We want them to fight, because DMC3 has Vergil vs Dante so we'll do it too. Dante good, vergil bad" it's not done wisely, it's half baked. Especially the whole, "I loved you brother" all happened in about 3 minutes of them being the best of buds. It's just like wtf happened and it ruins the immersion. It feels rushed. Ofc, relationships can end that fast but if you're trying to develop a story, that's the worst way to do it because there's no context that adds anything of worth or nothing to build upon. The final boss fight feels like an optional boss fight that became mandatory. Vergil killing Lilith's child was so poorly done that they even added in a scene in the definitive edition to try and add a justifiable reason behind it, but all Vergil said was, "I had to" and Dante said, "look at all the innocents you killed" Mind you, Dante didn't care about anyone but Kat prior so that's hypocritical. It's just a game that's amazing but also brings itself down in numerous ways. Dante's personality is also incoherent here and just doesn't make sense. It's like they were stuck between dev ideas and added them each into every other mission. He also just comes off as an ass, and isn't exactly charming which isn't too bad but it's not really likable in the long run. It's just smug. Compared to his original idea of him being a dark, comedic and PTSD having character like the trailer showed in 2010. 2013's design of Dante came off really bland, asshole like and it felt like he just always confused. They seemingly also wanted to try and make Vergil modern which bit them in the ass because all he does is hacking sequences, he rarely does anything that adds anything to his character and undermines Vergil quite a bit compared to his original badass demeanor. He comes off as a overbearing, cocky intelligent asshole who can't do anything but hack stuff. The way Vergil pulled out numerous skills was also annoying, mind you it's because of the fact that he wanted to hide his identity ofc but look at the way Gliver (Vergil took up the identity of Gliver, a mercenary persona in the original DMC Novel) was done in the novel. He wasn't just useless, he was a great fighter and never had to reveal his skills, he was just purely intelligent and applied that to earning the trust of everyone around him without giving up his identity. He was a perfect representation of what Vergil could've been here. It would've also made everything much more engaging. Vergil in the DLC has terrible reasons for also becoming full on evil, bringing issues such as feeling lower than Dante, something we never see occur in the main game so it feels random. Same with Eva liking Dante more but unlike the original entries, there was no context as to why he felt this way. Same with Kat liking Dante more. It's all so random and makes Vergil feel more confusing than engaging and relatable. It's not as though they built on anything. They simply just pulled these things out of nowhere in order to try and force the plot together, and pretty much force Vergil to be evil. It wasn't a smooth transition it was blatantly underwhelming. Everything else besides the story is amazing. Part of this is the fault of Capcom who wanted a more Capcomesique DMC title without it being exactly the same. Ninja theory had to completely change their design to fit that want and in that, sacrificed a lot of good things as a result. Making a half finished game such as DmC. It had no self identity and was torn between two worlds of story and design and came out to feel unsatisfying but enjoyable. A sad result because there was a lot of potential. People were quick to hate on the 2010 version for not being like DMC but it wasn't trying to be DMC, it was unique and interesting and provided a lot more insight than the entry we received. And that's the big difference between what could've been, and what was. People complained about this, but they don't understand we got this half baked version because of the very thing you mentioned. Not being able to take off their nostalgia glasses and see that the 2010 version wasn't that bad and offered something new. Oh and Kat was decent but even then, she had way more character in the original concept. Nonetheless. DmC is amazing and deserves more credit, it just isn't that engaging. It's gameplay elements make it amazing. Not the game itself. The idea of making Vergil and Dante half-demon and half-angel too sacrifice the fact that Dante and Vergil struggled with their humanity and eliminates the core message. Instead, they could've done a similar thing and use it to build upon the story, with the struggle b/angel and demon tendencies stemming from their heritage. Or perhaps even, make two different DT's, etc but we got none of that.
Most demons do have emotion thry are just unable to express compassion and love most of the time. Only rare instances like Sparda, Trish and Baul or even Modeus. Those were exceptions tbat could express other emotions like love and compassion. Or even selflessness

What some may remember from the gme, before this he had sent out a huge outburst of energy trying to kill Dante & Co., but he failed and was thus severely weakened after that effort, as Kat says in a cutscene shortly afterwards. In this it is suggested that he has 20/30% of his power, if he had been at full strength this would have been quite different. Perhaps we'll see him return in another game at full strength instead of this weakened form.

This Mundus actually defeated Sparda and imprisoned him. He actually rules the whole world. Mundus in the original games is treated like a pushover nowadays, especially in non-canon material
The difference is that this sparda was the weak one, in what change the other one, although he was able to defeat him, could not kill him, which is why it is that mundus that is more powerful.

@@Griffith_Here so true! plus, you know how cool it is to get a reply from a dmc reboot video? it's good that some people still watches the videos of this game
It's a decent game but the game wasn't ground breaking enough for a lot of fans to redeem it from bad mouthing and giving a middle finger to the original
This one is also a more believable villan. That said compared to fighting Pluto whilst flying through space, dodging meteors, lightning, giant rocks and a clusterfuck of laser projectiles and laserbeams to super epic music AS Sparda himself. This boss fight falls a little short. Not to mention the fact that everything above is only the first of 3 stages.
I find it interesting how video games throw around references to a character with "limitless power" like this one does with Mundus, but the moment the player has to actually face the final boss directly, they (Ninja Theory) completely fails to realize what it really means for a character to be all powerful. This final boss doesn't even come close to coming across as all powerful.
I thinkmthe fight would have been better in his physical form because that wouldnt of had slow attacks and you would of had to kniw his movements and counteract his speed
djcreeps121 Perhaps, but I think the fight could have worked with Mundus in his city destruction form had Ninja Theory conceptualized the fight better. I mean the fight starts off somewhat promising and intensely atmospheric with each of Mundus's punches flattening a skyscraper but the moment Dante stands his ground and starts fighting him, each of his attacks does zero damage to the building Dante is on. I could go on but I'll spare you. Be it nit-picky or not this detail is extremely distracting to me.
I totally get your criticism and i understand what you mean with games making bosses seem all powerful but then end up being quite anticlimactic. Some games do it right such as dragons dogma where the game felt epic and its bosses felt powerful and huge and the final boss felt powerful, like the whole team was neede to take it down.
But the thing u have to realize this is that this isnt the final boss fight, i feel like they left it that way so you would want more but think this is the end. Because the virgil boss fight at the end was sorta un expected. Its a phycological thing they play on yout with this boss fight. They hype it up to make it awesome but not enough leaving you un satisfied with your defeat untill u come to see the actual final boss which is everything you would expect. And yes the virgil boss fight was EPIC!
For alot of people who think Mundus and Lilith didn't deserve to die and that the Vergil in the original games was more honorable than his reboot counterpart, I say differently, here's why: Mundus was corrupt, ruthless, and despicable to the point where he would murder or enslave humanity and was willing to kill women and children to get what he wanted, as well as engage in enslaving other people. I don't blame Vergil at all for killing Mundus or shooting Lilith dead. Also, had Vergil spared Lilith, the demon spawn would have probably grown to become worse, if not more dangerous, than Mundus ever could be. Finally, while the original Vergil was shown to be honorable, that didn't also mean the guy was not above being ruthless. In the third game, Vergil once killed Arkham and Beowulf, especially when the latter was already crippled by Dante. Vergil also showed that he was willing to resort to tactics like fratricide and summoning a colossal demon tower (likely endangering other humans in the city) to get what he wanted. Considering the guy is basically a Griffith/Femto expy, I wouldn't be surprised.
I can't believe this game was almost the reason why the creator of Devil May Cry would quit, the thing is it has good concept than the original, but the delivery didn't hit the mark properly, it would have a good sequel to had it just been delivered in a way to appease the fans of Devil May Cry
I still don't get the hate on this game storywise. Like, yea, gameplay was sometimes shitty at some aspects but story wasn't as bad as people say, most people being mad at the story I saw were mad that a remake is a remake. Also Vergil's "betreyal", I don't see it as a betreyal. Mundus even in this video said already that humans before he arrived we're bringing war and destruction to one another and he brought prosperity. Mundus at some level was right, the only thing that made him a bad guy was treating man kind like ants. Worse than him, to be controlled, and if some died it wasn't an issue. Vergil wanted to rule, so the man kind could be free but undere his rule, like change from a dictator to a strict parent. Vergil had to fight Dante because what would happen if Dante won? Humans would go back to their old ways of savagery? Exploitation? Corruption? And to Vergil's nightmares Dante did won, so now there's a power vacuum that will be filled by a ruthless dictator because the only people that actually knew what was going on are either on a exile or don't want to rule because they just god darn love anarchy and don't think of the consequences. Vergil wasn't a villain, neither was Dante. They just had different views on the whole mankind thing, so when people say "Vergil going bad is so random" are right and wrong. It was random, but because you see it as Vergil going bad guy, when he didn't change at all, and just decided to put his potential people, their prosperity and safety above his brother when he didn't want to help him in his goal.
No, thr story is a big shit, this Mundus and most enemies and bosses are so fucking shit and easy even in Dante Must Die or Hell And Hell difficulties. This game is not the worst of the franchise because Devil May Cry 2 exists
The shop's name came from lady, when she said that even devils may have the abillity to cry, but crying out like a bitch when in pain and shedding tears for a lost family member are totally diferent things.
I gotta admit, pissing off a demon king is the wisest thing you can do!!! Especially when he Rebuild's himself from a whole bunch of car parts and building parts as well as Lego blocks!!! On tha real!!!😂🤣😂🤣😂
This fight was fun the first time around, then they put it in the reboot. They hardly even switched it up. At least Nero's whining sounded heartfelt. Reboot "Dante's" scream sounds like a DmC fanboy trying to make a comeback.
I was really just talking about the climactic and epic nature of the 2 fights next to eachother. That said DMC1 has been out for 12 years and DmC has been out 9 days. Give it time and im sure someone will make the new Mundus look like just as much of a wimp by spamming items.
This Mundus defeated DMC's reboot Sparda. Mundus in the original rule over time and space, is really different. Dante sends him back to the hell after he obtained his father's powers (and Trish's supply). Do you remember that? DMC 1 Dante is so much powerful that it is even unfair to compare him to his new rebooted form.
Don't see how people can compare cry scenes in the other DMCs to the fall scene in here. The crying was more of a sympathetic aspect to dante, while donte was just scared shitless.
Mundus really seem to love Bruce Willis for adopting his appearance Lilith: Mundus we need to talk Mundus watching Die Hard 4: the heck honey can't you see I'm busy ? Lilith: I'm tired to see all your stuff about that human....what's his name ? Mundus: Bruce Willis Lilith: whenever stop spending money on stuffs from this pitiful human worm or i'll divorce you Mundus: bruh go play elsewhere woman ! Bruce Willis is Love, Bruce Willis is my world. Lilith slapping Mundus: infidel I divorce you and take our future child with me Mundus: yeah whenever i give you 20 grands so you get off my back when I watch my collection of movies with Bruce Willis when I wear my Bruce Willis underpants and my t-shirt Bruce Willis and I make a tattoo from Bruce Willis
Yes, talk about "if he was" "if he had"...but that's just talking about something that doesn't even exist in this dmc reboot. It's only potentially possible and nothing more. In the original DMC you have to fight a multidimensional being, an immortal entity with godlike powers that can manipulate time and space at will. And this aspect integrates perfectly with the storyline and the game environment. There was a horror/suspance component responsible for the general success of DMC.
This woulda been a good game if it wasn’t a devil may cry game, not to mention how they basically taunted fans of the original series expecting this to take over

@@andrewcruzsmith2343 OG Vergil wanted power to compensate for the pain and trauma he went through as a child where he felt helpless, and thus endlessly continues his search for power in order to never feel weak and useless again. Reddit Vergil just wants to rule the humans because he sees them as an inferior race (despite previously being in a relationship with one). Please stop comparing the two versions of him. One is clearly inferior.
@@kin4386 This was Dmc3 Vergil. Dmc5 Vergil throwed away this motivation to the garbagge just to defeat Dante. And hell, Vergil despises humans so much that he even cutted off his human side. How the fuck they are not the same cut from same cloth?
2:09 I'm gonna have to admit that was a pretty good roast
XXXDDD🤣🤣🤣🤣 Truth tho
roast?
@@FakeTier An insult
0:31 This line is so funny to me. "Ah yeah, I was wondering if that whole 'killed your mother' thing factored into it. I had a sneaking suspicion..."
This game was actually fun the only problem I really had was that this Dante was not the same and in the actual dmc angels don’t exist
This Mundus actually defeated Sparda and imprisoned him. He actually rules the whole world. Mundus in the original games is treated like a pushover nowadays, especially in non-canon material
The difference is that this sparda was the weak one, in what change the other one, although he was able to defeat him, could not kill him, which is why it is that mundus that is more powerful.
now in 2019-2022, OG mundus was like urizen, vergil's half, he was a lonely demon and became demon king after eating qliphoth fruit, they really messed up mundus's origin
I must admit that I liked this mundus.
I have to admit Bob Barbas is much more harder than Mundus
Mundus' spawn was.
Every boss is ez
Name me a boss in this game that isn't. Be it his bossfight or his character, this Mundus is all around a complete fricking joke.
"I am Mundus"
"You're an asshole"
Still cracks me up

2:42 the sarcastic scream of dante
You're fired, Mundus.
Not a fan to this game but I absolutely loving the concept the all-powerful demon mask his identity as a very influental human in mortal realm
Too bad it makes no sense for Mundus' character in this game whatsoever...
Its just like this world you'd be surprised
It glitched at 10:25.
What a well-made game.
0:29 Daaaaamn Mundus what are those?!
4:40 the weird moment when you thought Dante's spit was the cause of that mess
4:24
Wow. They turned Mundus, who was basically Satan in DMC1, into Megatron! LOL.
Vergil: Quick, Dante! We must defeat the leader of the Decepticons and save humanity!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
My little brother thought he looked like Megatron too lol
actually he's looks like a illuminati businessman lol
@@Hateful_Rexwell thats what hes supposed to be in this game
@@Griffith_Here so true! plus, you know how cool it is to get a reply from a dmc reboot video? it's good that some people still watches the videos of this game
you see.. mundus has a point.
He has a point, that's why he ruled... he "looks" bad because his point is against the majority.
He did, but he also went about it the wrong way.
He has a point however that doesn't change the fact that he's harvesting humanity's souls.
Everybody has a point, its doesnt automatically make that point correct
Yeah, but he's an asshole.
It's called "Mundus Theme" by Noisia. :]
Am I the only one that loved this game? And I'm a fan since the original Devil May Cry came out for the PS2
It's a decent game but the game wasn't ground breaking enough for a lot of fans to redeem it from bad mouthing and giving a middle finger to the original
Im a fan
I loved it :D I want a part 2 tbh
dante really isn't dante in this game, compared to all the other games.
@@sparda_ Well, he is.
Dude the hell gate was systematically shut first. Cuts of his power. He is all powerful then, but not after the gate is shut. Pay attention.
Mundus just looks like Sundowner from Metal gear rising.
Mundus the ultimate Decepticon
For alot of people who think Mundus and Lilith didn't deserve to die and that the Vergil in the original games was more honorable than his reboot counterpart, I say differently, here's why:
Mundus was corrupt, ruthless, and despicable to the point where he would murder or enslave humanity and was willing to kill women and children to get what he wanted, as well as engage in enslaving other people.
Everybody hates mondays
Back to work...
Devil may cry...
I can't believe this game was almost the reason why the creator of Devil May Cry would quit, the thing is it has good concept than the original, but the delivery didn't hit the mark properly, it would have a good sequel to had it just been delivered in a way to appease the fans of Devil May Cry
2:20 When you are pissed as can be.
It was only logical to kill the son because the son would try to seek vengeance on Dante and I'm guessing he didn't want the hassle
2:22-3:14 Dante: Oh no! This is what pain feels like!
Your life has ended Mundus the 2 sons of sparda are stronger.
"Why did your kill my child?
- Oh, please. Spare me violin. Given your CV, it bordens on caricature..."
Thank god for DMC 5
That braindead weeb trash isn't fit to bear the series name
You know, Dante is much cooler with white hair, then this hair color, honestly...
@Pedro Sacramento SPOILERS:He ends up with white hair at the end of The Game.
i feel bad for the ppl that got sucked into mundus )':
I feel like this game wouldn't be as bad if the voice actors and dialogue were better. They had a good story going.
That Dante “priceless” line was pretty nice ngl
I actually liked them lines.
Mostly
The voice acting was great, except maybe Dante's screaming parts lol
Voice acting is good the writing is the problem here
well, it's funny because of the contrast between Mundus monologue-ing how he's the master of the universe, and Dante's just like "yooo fuck you mang"
I actually liked this game
2:42 Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
- Donte
Dante : seeing your child blowing into pieces priceless
Mundus: you chose death
Vegril : nope
Mundus : I'm GIANT
Dante: "YOU'RE AN *SSHOLE!"
Mundus makes a lot of sense imo
Must Mundus remind you of his superiority?
@Aldonos He`s a demonic businessman/infernal king with a huge-ass God Complex so yes,he must.
Dante's scream like 'Ahh' or the 'Vergil!' Could have been abit better OHO
Still can’t get over how the hellgate just looks like a bunch of super compressed jpegs rotating around
The shop's name came from lady, when she said that even devils may have the abillity to cry, but crying out like a bitch when in pain and shedding tears for a lost family member are totally diferent things.
this game was pretty good and fun, but I still prefer the old classic fight with him. Was more climactic and cooler.
And more challenging, this fight even in Dante Must Die or Hell And Hell difficulties is so easy.
Why most mid game bosses are way harder than Mundus and Virgil?
His theme is so good 🔥
This is probably the most DMC2 bossfight outside the actual DMC2...
NOISIA
he only shed tears but never sobbed or screamed
I remember exactly.
I also remember that Dante needed the power of plot convenience to beat him...which is not a good sign anyway
I gotta admit, pissing off a demon king is the wisest thing you can do!!! Especially when he Rebuild's himself from a whole bunch of car parts and building parts as well as Lego blocks!!! On tha real!!!😂🤣😂🤣😂
5:51 - 5:54 Still funny than Velma.
15:10 - A very wholesome moment
this is my favorite boss fight in the game(besides vergil).
You didn't like the Succubus fight?
nah, that nero isn't this vergil's son
Senator Armstrong but he doesn't have the nanomachines nor the motivation
This fight was fun the first time around, then they put it in the reboot. They hardly even switched it up.
At least Nero's whining sounded heartfelt. Reboot "Dante's" scream sounds like a DmC fanboy trying to make a comeback.
This is like a video game version of devils advocate. Oh look at the background here and the movie tell me I’m wrong
Mundus : Why did you kill my child : Dante … : Mundus : i will ask again why did you kill my child : Dante because you killed my mother and my father
So the final boss in DmC:DmC is the first boss from God of War 3?
this game is a masterpiece i dont care what anyone says
I second that
Good thing objective opinions disagree.
Yup.
I personally like the main series as well but tbh the reboot is honestly good in it's own.
I was really just talking about the climactic and epic nature of the 2 fights next to eachother.
That said DMC1 has been out for 12 years and DmC has been out 9 days. Give it time and im sure someone will make the new Mundus look like just as much of a wimp by spamming items.
Easy boss. I think Bob Barbas or Lilith are harder.
Hell no
+Gokin eh not really lilith and barbas's stages where more fun but mundus had good platforming
Like most giant fight this 'I'm GoNnA hIt ThE pLaTeFoRm AnD lEt My FiSt HeRe So YoU cAn AtTaCk It'
I think Bob Barbas was the hardest because he FREAKING SPAWNS WALLS
Then again, it did take me 2 days to beat Lilith...
Why are you even here, if you don't like it? God, what a fine specimen of humanity you are
In my opinion, this was a very good game.
The only problem was that it had "Devil May Cry" in the title.
I am pretty sure you're supposed to avoid the attacks.....?
Mundus is a cool charismatic villain that is so hateable, wish there was more to his motivations
Nope thats realistic, it what happen in our world. Foul words to insult someone. No pretentious bullshit
Don't see how people can compare cry scenes in the other DMCs to the fall scene in here. The crying was more of a sympathetic aspect to dante, while donte was just scared shitless.
Who would have guessed Tony Soprano was master of the Underworld.
Good to see you on youtube. I'm a big fan ;) ^^
10:20 Mfw you were just told that your son died but you never really wanted him anyway. He's just sort of like "huh."
Mundus really seem to love Bruce Willis for adopting his appearance
Lilith: Mundus we need to talk
Mundus watching Die Hard 4: the heck honey can't you see I'm busy ?
Lilith: I'm tired to see all your stuff about that human....what's his name ?
Mundus: Bruce Willis
Lilith: whenever stop spending money on stuffs from this pitiful human worm or i'll divorce you
Mundus: bruh go play elsewhere woman ! Bruce Willis is Love, Bruce Willis is my world.
Lilith slapping Mundus: infidel I divorce you and take our future child with me
Mundus: yeah whenever i give you 20 grands so you get off my back when I watch my collection of movies with Bruce Willis when I wear my Bruce Willis underpants and my t-shirt Bruce Willis and I make a tattoo from Bruce Willis
1:47 Come on, Dante...Get him pissed!
I have no idea why but as soon as I vergil said that my face went from😲

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This woulda been a good game if it wasn’t a devil may cry game, not to mention how they basically taunted fans of the original series expecting this to take over
When I played this game I was little confused about the timeline
Can someone else explain to this person that DmC is not part of the original canon. It's tiring to explain...
