    Dale's uncle, who grew up here at the Old House On The Corner, commented on this photo on our Facebook page... He said - True, whenever we had drought conditions people would come from all around to get our water. Some came on a regular basis just for drinking water because it was "the best around".

    I hope you enjoy Scotland, there's so much to see. Your routes taking in a lot of great places, I'm sure you'll love it all. Don't be scared of the single track road, there are lots of passing places you just need to make sure you take your time and look well ahead for oncoming traffic so you can use the passing places. Oh and something people often don't realise, if someone is behind you wanting to go faster than you, pull in to a passing place to let them go past. These roads are not usually too busy, it wasnt when we drove it. If you have time on Mull, make the trip over to Iona, we have a video on that 😊. Enjoy your trip.

    Wow! Your trip sounds so amazing! I am even more excited than before after hearing your plans. It is so amazing that things built long ago are still standing! There is an old well on our property I think from the late 1800's or early 1900's and it is no worse for wear. I am so excited to see all the beautiful castles. I hope you get footage of your one lane road drive. That video just may go viral!🤣 I don't know if I could handle it!🤣 I hope y'all have a wonderful time and have beautiful weather and y'all enjoy your trip to the fullest! Looking forward to seeing it!🥰

      Hi Kari! Thanks so much, we are getting very excited as well! This trip has been a long time coming and we're going to enjoy every minute of it (and bring everyone along for the ride on our channel)! Speaking of old wells, we too have an old hand dug well on our property that is hand laid with stone walls (all dug and built by Dale's ancestors who built our house 161 years ago this May). It's only 20 feet deep, has never been dry (it's spring fed), and - believe it or not - is still the one we use to provide water to the house. We'll dig up a photo of it that we took a few years back and post it in our community for you. And yes, we will do our best to film the one lane road as we drive from Tobermory to Calgary Bay out on the Isle of Mull. Ha ha! We look forward to sharing many things from our trip so stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! Come again any time! 😊

      @@OldHouseOnTheCorner I am continually amazed at all the things we have in common. Ours is hand dug too and only 20 some feet but ours is not spring fed and dries up in the summer. Yours is probably the best tasting water ever being spring fed. I would have kept it in the house too! I can't wait to see the photos! Thanks for sharing!🥰

      @@AtHomeWithKari wow, that is neat how similar our wells are. Yes, we do have good tasting water. 👍

    Hello, Dale and Claudine. Just saw you in a wee donder with Tamson. Thought we'd come by and say Hello. We've been following Tamson for years too! When I arrived here I saw that we were already subscribed so we must have met though him then. Are you still in Scotland? Certainly sounded like it was well thought out and you were well prepared! You mentioned in Tamsons video some of the castle's and places you've visited. Our daughter in law is from near Calgary Alberta. Would love to visit Calgary Bay! What, you don't believe in Nessie? 🤣🤣Have a great trip!

      Hi Dave and Kathy! Thanks for stopping by and dropping a hello! We saw you commenting on the premiere but weren't in a spot we could respond right away. We were in Scotland traveling for two weeks and actually just got home to NY state late last night. No, actually we were not prepared on that video with Tamson. We all did that on the fly... but it was very fun. We've also been out to Calgary, Alberta (coaching a teen Bible quiz team at an international tournament years ago) so we decided to visit Calgary Bay while we were in Scotland so we could say we'd been to both. The road from Tobermory to Calgary Bay is all single lane, two-way driving and we'll have that on a future video on our channel (along with the rest of our Scotland trip) in upcoming weeks so stay tuned!

    Good choice in footwear. I have the Merrell Moab 3 gortex. Good idea to get the correct clothes for UK and some areas in Scotland. 😊 I’m friends with Stuart as you may know 😊 subscribed to see your adventures

    Brilliant - hope you have an amazing trip.
    We're doing some of those locations this year too!
    Just one tip - once you've visited Dornie, (which is alwyas dreadfully crowded), just drive a little further, just a ten minute drive to take you across the Skye Bridge to the Isle of Skye.
    It's an iconic bridge with a beautiful view. You can then just turn around and come back. As you will be so close to Skye - it will be a shame not to say you've been.
    Have a great trip guys

    You will definitely need midge repellent or a good insecticide. We swear by Bog Myrtle; the Highland Soap Co do a fantastic range of bog myrtle products and they have shops in most tourist areas or on line.

    • @OldHouseOnTheCorner
      @OldHouseOnTheCorner  5 місяців тому +1

      We won't be going in midgie season so we should be OK. Thanks for the advice, though. We'll look for those items just in case.

    Not sure you'll need the thermal underwear but you ought to have waterproof trousers.
