I love having a real football player at QB. Nobody who's afraid to step up when it's needed but not going for dumb stuff. Great overall point about the position

Coach, it’s the power read scheme. Option read on the frontside defender.

That's a good question I can ask him when he comes back on.

Besides smash concept. What other route concepts would you use to attack cover 2 from a 2x2 spread set.

I would prefer to build 3x1 schemes vs cover 2.

I'm a fan of stick, mesh, and shallow cross.

Y-Cross, Shallow Cross, Stick, Smash, Snag, Curl, Verts, and Switch concepts that attack the 2 boundary holes and the middle of the field. I also like to fix the apex players in 2x2 with Pre-Snap RPOs with stick routes. If they aren't getting over the 2 then you run it. Otherwise, there is going o be a lot of hook/curl space for the QB and the Slot to connect. Another concept I use is an inside skinny post and an outside lazy slant. Forces the hook/curl backer to decide if he wants to carry the seam or take his curl zone.
