Run Pass Options are going nowhere in football. The way RPOs put defensive players in conflict, give the quarterback and offensive coordinator the chalk last, and being able to create an explosive offensive play is why YOU need to run RPOs.
But what are some simple RPOs to run in your Spread Offense?
That's what I'll be talking to Coach Brent Dearmon about in today's Showcast

What a show! I’ve watched this three times so far and every time I take a little more away from it. Thanks coach for getting this guy on the show!
Heck yeah coach! What’s the biggest takeaway so far?
You know coach I would have to say as a sum as the OC you have to find a way to make the defense do what you want them to do. I love how he uses the slot WR to spread that defender out creating more space for the run. His RPOs are phenomenal! They build on his run game so I can see him establishing the run early and once he draws them in start attacking with the RPO to back them out of the box. Overall I can tell he trains his guys to play smart football.
Thanks!
Coach Mckie, love the channel!! I’ve watched this buck sweep and video a lot. I was just thinking could you read the backside end and have the Tackle block down to bluff the 3 tech & go and then have the 2 WRs block if he reads the end. Just a thought.
This was freekin awesome. Gonna watch this over n over. Thanks for this coach.
Great stuff today coach... Thank you.
No problem coach. What was your biggest takeaway from coach Dearmon?
this guy was great at explaining concepts thanks
Awesome clinic!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Super smart way to play with attention to spacing and reads and taking what they give you.
For the zone read go if the corner looks down and you throw the ball, by that time haven’t your lineman started working up field and could get illegal man downfield?
If your qb is slow on the read then yes. But it doesn’t get called often
Coach Dearmon answers that question in this podcast: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/all-in-on-offense-rpo-brent-dearmon-offensive-assistant/id1216363733?i=1000442561007
Hello Coach Dearmon apply for Washington Offensive Coordinator Job
Actually in today’s game people do come to see the passing game. A run heavy offense in college is becoming a rarity.
I get the ease of one word plays but it kinda restricts throwing in wrinkles. I prefer a universal system that’s learned. Once you learn the system the play, even if longer, is understood. It’s like the difference in a piano player memorizing a song vs learning to read music. The latter can play any song you put in front of him.
SPLITS!!!!!
What about the splits?
19:04 dark Prescott could learn a thing or two from that...
Like what?
Going rb qb
Pistol sucks, just use a 2 back setup.
Why do you say that?
I know this guy knows the game, But he lost me at caring what the fans want to see! We coach to win ball games, PERIOD! Hitches or no hitches, and youre gonna tell me hitches wont open up the running game? I understand we need butts in the seats, but guess what always gets butts in the seats? WINNING, people love winners not sexy offenses!
I think it was just his way of stating how important the run is to him
