Great stuff, I have the same soil to work with at my allotment also. I've started knocking up the raised beds. Your plot is looking great.

This was basically a how to in setting up a raised bed garden along with keeping the rows from getting muddy. There wasn't a lot on actually conditioning the soil. But, there were good tips for me with the clay soil where I am

Thanks. It's nice to know the video's are helpful.
    Update...
Leave planks a good few inches high to allow for bed material.
Dig out deep rooted weeds, leave others (too much work!).
Lay several layers of newspaper or cardboard down first (cover weeds).
On top, apply well rotted manure (real black stuff), and compost, plus rock dust if you can get it.
    In spring grow plants!
End of season add sand typically 30 to 50 kg, and fork in with more compost.
    My soil is lovely now!

This was the only practial video I found on dealing with clay- Thank you! I got my allotment on january 1, and there is zero organic matter and all clay. It's a gigantic mudpuddle... Guess I need to get to work if I want to be ready for the coming growing season. If you have any more pointers, please let me know. Thanks again :)

Nice work.We gave up our allotment due to a commitee that had a very opressive and negative attitude :[ One word of warning - the shredded wood often comes from areas that Japanese Knotwood grows - it's almost impossible to remove and will ruin the whole allotment in time.

Thanks for your comment. I hope you managed to find somewhere else to grow food. I need to get back into it too. Good comment about the knotweed. Sorry for bit of a late response! I checked out your allotment videos. You're doing very well, much better than me at the moment. I've not been able to get down to my plot much recently so I have rather a few too many weeds!
Did you know I live just down the road from you, in Durham?

@eatmoreraw I've just signed for a double allotment. Its in the same sort of state that yours looked although the soil is quite good :)
I'll be looking at basically doing something similar to yours. My back garden already looks like an allotment lol.
Good vieo though mate. Nice to see the boy taking an interest. I reckon the only thing you should add is a fruit cage :)

There's a steep embankment down to a main road below, just the other side of the trees. The funny thing is, I don't even notice the noise now. I have a friend whose garden is much closer to a railway line than the road is to my allotment, the train station platform overlooks his garden! When I commented on the noise which is much louder than in my video, he said exactly the same thing. "I don't notice it" he said!

I only ate 13 oranges for breakfast today! I eat what some would consider a rather strange diet. I eat loads of fruit, very little fat and quite a bit of salad greens and not much else. It's all helped me to get over health problems. My blog explains more.
