My worst experience in my short life of playing pickleball happened at a clinic. I was using a lot of the techniques y'all go over - stance just slightly wider than my shoulders, creating space to return a dink hit near the kitchen line, etc, and I was told my stance was too wide, to never let a ball bounce when you can take it out of the air, etc. It was contradictory to all the things y'all say that have made me a better player in a short amount of time. It was frustrating. I'm sticking with y'all.
My husband and I met Caden right after Legacy opened. We passed him on the way to the parking lot and had very nice long conversation with him. He was so excited about his new job and pickleball. He told us all about himself and we thought he was just delightful. Kathleen is really silly!
Love Caden's story about rec play with Kathleen. Anyone who has played much rec play has run into a Kathleen. Also, the guy who loves to drive fastballs at beginners who can't even protect their faces.
I love cadens story . I play paddle stacks and can't imagine having a pro like cadens paddle next to mine and him willing to play with me. I feel bad for the woman missing an opportunity like that. people are, however, funny about the stack rules.
I started wearing eye protection a few weeks ago...just like anything, it takes time but it has saved me at least once since I started wearing them...I still have a floater in my eye from a ball from 4 months ago.....they have come a long way in them so they are comfortable and stylish and safe
Suzy has a point. If there is a paddle queue then its etiquette to share courts after your one game (2 v 1). If its a club thats different but if its public courts then its different . Lol its okay happens in different areas, the people at the court should of explained it to you a little bit nicer.

I always tell people that our court not to mess with the paddle rack. I told them pretend that it is charged with 50,000 V. We haven’t had an update on Caden’s love life lately. 😂
I'm not trying to be argumentative but I was wondering the other day if that means folks can't play singles. I don't play singles so it doesn't matter to me, but was just wondering if someone would catch flack for that.
I wouldn’t mind a 2V one playing their turn. I wouldn’t mind singles playing their turn. What chaps my butt are the (I called them too goods) who commandeer a court while others are waiting and think they are entitled to more court time because they are better players.
My wakeup call occurred when the ball came off the top of my paddle in a firefight and ricocheted right below my left eye. The prospect of lifelong blurred vision or a detached retina, no thanks. I've tried several different brands of protective eyewear and so far the CRBN Pivot has worked out best. In selecting protective eyewear, the lens needs to be vertically large/tall enough so that your up/down head movement is minimized and the lens must also wrap horizontally around your face to minimize left/right head movement. Lens clarity is vitally important as well. With the aforementioned criteria in mind, try several brands/models and see what works best for you. Just do it; do it now!
I think it has to do with what part of the bay you're at playing pickleball, most of the people in the east bay who play at southgate or at manor are super friendly and accommodating.
I understand how this woman got under your skin. Instead of appreciating the fact that she was fortunate to play with a professional and maybe could learn something she resented you and demonstrated disrespect. Yeah it’s a little irregular to jump the queue but it’s also unusual to get to play with or watch a pro play in person. I had sucky experience the other day when a woman told me I couldn’t put spin on the serve. I told her that after doing some research that spinning the serve is legal. After the game she was sitting near me and I was going to talk to about the now illegal “chainsaw serve” that players were pre spinning then adding more spin with their paddle. So I said that I wanted to explain what I had read about the spinning rule. She cut me off and said “whatever buddy”. I asked if she wanted me to explain. She turned away and said “nope”. I was shocked. What terrible attitude and lack of sportsmanship. Not sure if I want to give Debra a second chance. I have been an athlete, a coach in both the High School and collegiate levels but this pickleball is bringing out some people who don’t know respect and sportsmanship not to mention kindness. I either want to destroy her on the court or stay a hundred miles away. If I’m wrong about the serve rule please let me know where I’m going wrong or throw some advice about how to deal with disrespectful people on and off the court.
Lol I have a pickleball horror story. I brought my niece and mom to play pickleball and the courts were wide open. Literally just us. I play at a 4.0 level and they are extreme beginners. So I was just taking them through a dinking drill and a drop shot drill. While I was doing that an older man in his 70's comes to the court next to us. He watches us doing nothing for about 5-10 minutes. I say hey I'm just showing them some things about pickleball but if you want to play a game we can. When we start he says something like I'm a terrible teacher. Anyway we start and I'm reminding them where do stand and what to call the score. When he gets his serve he is ripping serves at my mom lol. I'm communicating with my mom who is my partner throughout the process points and I think I hit a drop shot high so I say "watch" fairly loud. Dude stops the point and says why are you talking during the point you can't do that in pickleball. I say I'm not doing a hinderance to you I'm communicating with my partner it's totally ok. He thinks the point should be dead silent. I suggest maybe we don't need to play because they are such beginners I really don't think no communication will work or will be fun for them. My mom says it's fine let's just play. One of the plays I'm covering middle and the guy speeds up on the line and I have to really outstretch to get it. I don't swing big but I get good contact back across court and I hit his arm. I immediately go to the net and say I'm sorry I didn't mean for that. He loses his mind and starts screaming at me you don't hit people in pickleball. I'm trying to explain I didn't mean to the game was so sloppy I didn't even take it that serious to try to speed up at him. And also it definitely happens in pickleball all the time it's part of the game. He continues to lose his mind saying I don't play pickleball the right way. I'm like let's just not play man do we need to move courts or should you. He sits there and is just berating us on the sideline for like 5 minutes. Yelling, saying we don't play pickleball the right way. My niece calls him an asshole and tells him he's being rude and abrasive the whole time. And he finally got the hint that no one in our group gave a shit about what he said and he finally left.

That story Caden shared is typical of the nonsense in low-level pickleball. The 5th grade mentality and the court scarcity make playing with these "Karens and Kens" miserable.

Caden is right about San Francisco being behind. If you want a story, let's talk about how bad SF Rec and park is. Perhaps that's why people want fairness with the queue system. There are courts in SF where there are 100 people waiting to play and rec and park are sitting on their ....... ,only catering to tennis. In fact they just took away 6 courts from Presidio Wall which is the most popular place to play. They think dual lining tennis courts and not providing nets is the answer.
If I heard Caden correctly Re Matt needing a bra, I thought that was inappropriate and immature, even if in love, as Caden states. I believe Jordan always maintains a professional persona, and the contrast in personalities lowers not only my impression of the quality of the podcast - it makes me wonder what Caden says or really thinks about the players (perhaps behind their back?) that spend good money on the intensives - I would reject having him teach my group. 😢

Interesting cognitive dissonance when talking about eyewear. Gets hit in the eye, clearly knows the risks of losing sight..but worried about looks 🤣. I wear glasses on the daily but switch to contacts and protective eyewear mostly because regular eyeglasses are not impact rated, and i have difficulty with fogging
I like the podcast man, the butchering of all the pros last names tho is below you. Watch a single stream on UA-cam you’ll hear all the correct pronunciations. It’s just B league stuff and you’re better then that, the pros deserve better then that
