I think Grambling had some damn good arrangements it was more of tempo and tone with them. Seems like everything was rushed. JSU bringing "Flight" and "Piece of my Love" did seal the deal though.
Gram had the right idea, but The Boom was just too strong. Not talking about loudness. I'm talking diversity of the book, arrangements and overall excitement. It's not enough to just play well. You have to make ppl go 👀👀. JSU did that. W goes to the Boom.
WOW! Jackson's Tubas' tone quality and fullness is freaking epic (Especially with their numbers). Those mofo's are eating!!!! And to be honest, I usually hate SWAC tuba sections.

And a good Trash talking Football Rivalry ... Jsu Football team is better ...They have a good band and the Boom Fans travel well and they enjoy competition and enjoy having fun!!! Gramfam We Have A Great band ,A good football team ...2016 HBCU Champs and very Strong Alumni chapters . We r like America Team! Gramfam is everywhere!!! Jsu&Gsu needs a Classic (Tiger Paw Classic) w/friday night Battle of the Bands At The Century Tel (Jsu vs Gsu ) Sat Morning Hi sch Battle of the bands sat morning &gametime sat nite in Shreveport Independence Stadium because its more up to date than Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson&Tiger Boom fans travel very well...Even tho both Bands have downsized some ..Fame morer than Boom ... Sorry Boom.. The Bigger They r The Harder They Fall...!!! ...I Thought Yall Knew!! Lol.. And This Rivalry is heating up again So Gsu&Jsu Alumni es, Student body ..Fans ...Lets Get it Going!!!!!
Stanley Babers Sounds like a good idea. Jackson States fans do tend to travel pretty well out to Grambling's campus. The attendance from both fan bases has been pretty good. Throw in a BOTB the night before and make it a classic huh, sounds like a good idea. Definitely worth trying for a year. Location I'd think between Jackson and Shreveport. Could get the Convention and Visitors Bureau from both cities to bid on hosting the event.

On 09/14/2017 ESPN ranked the top five HBCU Bands 1. Southern University Human Jukebox 2. Bethune Cookman Wildcat Band 3. Jackson State Sonic Boom 4. Grambling State World Fame Band 5. Florida A&M Rattler Band Alabama State Hornets and Miles College got honorable mention.
I said the same also.....i think it's bc we're so use to hearing a Boom with a dark sound with the b-tones, but bc they are short, the mellow are beasting and it give the boom a brighter sound......but that's my guess
