It doesn't go into The Silmarillion at all. That was his life's work. That's the reason why there were already languages and a history developed by the time he was working on the Lord of the Rings. The first version of what became The Silmarillion was being written when he was in the trenches in World War One and he was still working on it by the time he died.
First off I know this is an unofficial doco and i'm enjoying it, how ever the war footage you're showing is neither WW1 or English troops nor on the continent. It's footage of American troops in the 2nd world war in the pacific. You cannot tell me that there was no WW1 footage available. Just saying.
+Bloodaxetheirritable Whats Very interesting is those wars & The 3rd One thats sharping up now was written about by Albert Pike in a letter to Manzinee. Some say it's not (real) but the contents inform the battles the countries & alliances & the reasons for each one the last War is Lining up EXACTLY.I believe Tolkin had access to the deep catacombs in basement of the school & read much that was hidden away forgotten as Myth….i.e. Ol Norse & Sythians …. some of what was more true than many would believe tho it was devilry leechcraft if you would.
It is an odd film. Everything here is re-envisaged; no images by the many artists from whom Peter Jackson derived his imagery. Old style Star Trek prosthetics. Gandalf? Nothing on the BBC radio production (with Ian Holme), Imagery of American troops, shiny happy people reading LOTR, the yellow logo, a cross. The film makers don't thank God for the BBC nor for films made in NZ, but at least they're keen on Tolkien. So kudos.
Andrew Brooks actually in one of tolkien more obscure writing I can t remember which he actually does state, that elves ears are pointier and more leaf like then humans are.
The reason that he (Tolkien) wrote was to narrate the ''true myth'' of Christ. To ignore his Christian bedrock belief is crass. The 2019 film (Tolkien) as ever also, apparently, ignores his clear Christian or Catholic faith. A definite omission. That is why he wrote.

Thank you for uploading the video. I thought it was a nice ending tribute.
That war footage, though --! Tolkien was neither in WWII, nor the South Pacific.
J.R.R.Tolkien made these different books of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings
It's a wedding ring and once you put it on your doomed

I was going to say the same. These are US Army on the Phillipines I believe.

Yup makes it all seem fraud. Words ring true but vid does not
The son of JRR Tolkien passed away today
RIPChristopher Tolkien
Born in The USA, The Union of South Africa.
the secret to enjoying this is to not watch ...just listen
I believe "Tolkien" should be pronounced with two syllables: TOL-KEEN, not with three: TOL-KEE-EN.
Yes this has been on my mind for a while.
What an excellent documentary. Thank you :)
Whats up with the scary mysterious background music?
like how they show the battle of the somme with ww2 footage of american soldiers in the jungle lol
36:05 Death Metal album covers.
Take us for fools.
Why can't Americans pronounce Tolkien? It's 'toll-KEEN'.
Nowhere in any of Tolkien's writings does it say that the Elves had pointed ears... It's just a cliché and extremely silly.
wow, I had no idea....

Sidi Haroun Where did it say that?
@@Dino23968 im not absolutely positive but I think it was somewhere in the history of middle earth books edited by Christopher Tolkien.
Sidi Haroun Do you think there will ever be an on-screen adaptation of Tolkien's supposed final book, The Silmarillion?
3:45 "In February 1894, Tolkien's only brother, Hillary, was born" lol
Probably where he got the inspiration for Mary. Lol
Tolkien was in nam
This is dubious to say the least, the stock film clips being used are wrong. Dont bother with this its tripe.
Lol if they only knew how ridiculous their live action stuff would look now hahaha
I never heard of these books until Peter Jackson brought them to life!
SJW Films???? Oh Christ, what am I getting into!

Is for this?
LOTRs had a very gsy theme you have to wonder about JRRT
