Palika Bazaar is an underground shopping mall, known for cheap prices and a lot of haggling, kind of like the souks you have visited it’s not a subway …..still hoping that when you come back in Delhi area you may see Akshadham , you probably won’t be able to film a lot inside it’s about a 4-5 hour experience, hour long mega movie, boat ride and so much inside….. it’s near Raj Ghat…also Modi decreed years back to rid streets of cows, dogs and monkeys….they are my favorite parts too.

Even locals think twice before eating from such places. You can find the same street food but with better hygiene and quality at restaurants like Haldiram.

If you take a cab be very clear where you want to go and that you don’t want to go to the market. (They get money from the vendors ). Namaste Gabe! Wonderful to see Mahabharata and central New Delhi again! Visited the capital last 11 years ago - it seems remarkably clean now. The Connaught Circus area is great for up-scale fashion shoping, when time is limited. Otherwise I'd heartily recommend Ajmal Khan Rd in Karol Bagh for shoes and everything. So much to see, for instance the fab Baha'i Lotus Temple gardens, and in Old Delhi the Majnukatila (Tibetan quarter) - great also for jean apparel. I resided 1991 - 98 mainly in the lower Himalayas (Dharamsala and Bir) with cooler weather, plus one winter in the garden town Sarnath by Varanasi, and Tibetan New Year down south near Mysore (another favorite town). For the hot season the Himalayas are of course best, but many hill stations (e.g. Ooty near Mysore) are also passable. Other tips: Get a light-coloured cap to shield your head from the sun's hammer-blows. A water bottle is also handy, not only to quench thirst but to pour on your head (- better than passing out). Phrases: Namaste (= Hi), Namaskar (= Hello, I salute the Divinity in you); Shukriya (= Thanks), Dhanyawad (more formal = Thank you), Bahot dhanyawad (= Thank you very much). Happy Travels, looking forward to your new Vlogs!

Gabriel, I was at Sikandra (Agra) a week ago and the entry was now only cashless. I don't know if this applies to other cultural/heritage places but in case if it does and you don't know about this already: it would help a lot if you have set up a UPI or have some online wallet.
Basically you scan a QR and enter your details and pay (dirt cheap, it was 25₹ for Sikandra), which will give you your pass with a QR that will be scanned at the entrance and you're good to go. In case you don't have it, you can ask someone else to do it for you and they can send you the pass (it's a pdf, a screenshot will work too). This can save time.
Love your videos. Stay safe man last summer I had to pull up and eat glucose at the side of a road in June and I've lived here my whole life. The south will be far more tolerable than here during the summer.

We locals avoid old Delhi because it is filthy, smelling like rotten potatoes and of course the crowd. But I don't know why expatriates like to swarm these places...
The best shopping can be found at Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Nagar as well as Chandni Chowk.
Apart from the numerous gardens and parks of Delhi, places like Shillong, Kasauli, Khajjiar, Dharamshala and Jammu & Kashmir are absolutely lovely to visit, especially at this time of the year.

Foreigners don't come to India to see skyscrapers and nice roads. They can see lot lot lot better in other countries. They want to see the shabbiness and disorderliness of India. That's fanciful to them. This abnormal ugliness is what sets India apart from the rest of the world from a tourist perspective. It is bizzare that while the locals want to run away to Europe, America and middle East forever to escape from this suffocating hell hole called India, the foreigners flock to India to revel in the same.

The old idea of 'budget travel' has been obscured and is practically vanishing most everywhere. We are very happy you still venture out - it is most inspiring, making connections on the go as you do, but the absence of inexpensive hostels and guesthouses is telling. We understand that the modern calculus is $30-40 hostels and $75-150 hotels. People also budget for them, but it's no longer 'budget travel'. 🙏.

Because that is the way they(foreigners) see India or want to see India. Cows on the streets, poverty, chaos, slums, etc. That is their idea of India. For Indians when we think of America, we think of skyscrapers, times square so when an Indian tourist goes to the US, he wants to see that.
Tbh I don't understand why Indians get upset about it, they want to see what is different from their cities and towns. You see Gabriel isn't fully enjoying this part of Delhi. There are parts of Delhi-NCR that are far nicer than this but those things exist in his country too. So, let them enjoy the chaos which we have in plenty in India.
