What I do not get is why does there have to be 2 separate versions of the xbox game like why can't they merge the 2 platforms into 1 like alot of games

It's better this way. Most games simply ship with the Xbox One version on the disc and make you download the entire Series X version.
It's very annoying, I bought the physical disc Xbox one version by mistake for my Series X... There's no Smart delivery or free upgrade either..
