    I dont know what it is, but when I'm depressed or mentally not doing well, watching these videos brings me back to when I was a kid and changes my mood to a much better one. Not sure if it's the voice of reasoning (JRs) or the chemistry you have with him Connie. Keep up the good work and keep making all of us happy and excited again like you always did over the years.

    I loved the king of the ring tournament and the multiple matches on the same card , as long as it’s once a year. Plus I love the stakes, winner get a shot at summerslam, I’m a mark for things like that. My favorite was Bret hart winning three matches in three different ways

    Damnit Conrad.
    The initial stipulation to the main event was, if Hunter's team was victorious, then Hunter defends the Title against the KOTR winner at Fully Loaded, but if Rock's team won, whomever made the fall would get said Title shot at Fully Loaded.
    Then, the stipulation changed to, the Title is on the line, and if Hunter's team won (regardless of who got the fall), Hunter would retain, but if the opposing team won, then whomever got the fall (Rock, Kane, or Taker) would win the Title.
    It's actually pretty simple.

      I think they scrapped that because of low early pay per view buys think how much that would’ve sucked as a main event almost would have seemed pointless to purchase it if they would recap it the next night on raw that’s just my opinion but it changed one week out from king of the ring 2000

    Ultimately the problem with the main event was that it should've been the big blow off to the Rock/HHH feud with Rock getting a clean pin fall victory over Hunter & instead Rock wins the belt in a 6 man tag without actually pinning the champion. On a completely unrelated note, I believe it was around this period that HHH started to attend creative meetings.

    • @stevepmg9202
      @stevepmg9202 3 роки тому +1

      I dont think that mattered. It was episodic storyline drama and there would barely be separated for long until after SummerSlam anyway, with the PPVs being nothing more than end of chapters. In the context of pinning Hunter clean, which they'd already done, I can see the appeal of Rock winning the belt by pinning Vince, which they hadn't done, to get one over on the boss thats trying to keep the belt off him. Also it was getting one over Hunter for letting Vince into a match where he could lose the title on his behalf. We weren't half the smarks at the time which we'd become, as a 17 year old I didn't give a shit that this time he hadn't actually pinned Hunter to take revenge and get his belt back from him, I was just elated that he had. It was justice and vengeance for the month before which felt like a robbery anyway.

    • @josephboza7448
      @josephboza7448 2 роки тому

      I was thinking the same thing. Triple H losing the title without losing was dumb as blank. I didnt mind the 6 man tag but they created a mess by making it for the WWF Championship.

    In the main event the stips were a six man with the winner from the face team getting a title shot at Fully Loaded
    That was created by Linda
    If HHHs team won he would defend against the KOTR winner
    The heels changed it to a title match to create dysfunction in the face team
    Whoever got the fall on anyone of the heels would be the champion
    The stipulations were simple

    • @briansolo
      @briansolo 3 роки тому

      I believe the ‘89 or ‘90 version was somewhat a tournament. Nothing was on the line besides pride, but the survivors from each of the matches on the card would then return for the final match of the night to determine the “ultimate” survivor.

    I never really bought much into the main event because I knew there was no way in hell HHH would retain and realistically the only 2 they could possibly put the belt on would be Rock or Taker there was no way they’d put the belt on Kane

    • @blueblur2329
      @blueblur2329 4 роки тому

      Why? They put the belt on Kane before in the 1st blood match against Austin at King of the Ring 98. You wouldn't have guessed they'd do that in that ppv.

    • @murraysaucedo897
      @murraysaucedo897 4 роки тому

      Blueblur23 I agree I was surprised when Kane beat SCSA in the 1st blood match but back then Kane was really over. During this time, Kane seemed like a mid carder gatekeeper. I did see Kurt Angle was going to get the belt but I didn’t think it was going to be so soon at Summerslam. I really thought Rock would be champ until Survivor Series and there he’d put Angle over.

    • @blueblur2329
      @blueblur2329 4 роки тому

      @@murraysaucedo897 I always looked at Kane as a guy who was a top mid card to low main event top guy. A midcard gatekeeper is a good description but he was also a guy who whenever they needed to they could always plug him in the main event picture mostly because he was always over and even top guys still feared him. I thought booking in 00 was pretty unpredictable. They gave the belt to Chris Jericho briefly on a random night of Raw in like April. I thought Rock would get the belt at WM2000 but instead they kept it on HHH. When the Rock finally won it at the next ppv Backlash 2000 it was surprising to see him lose it again a month later at Judgement Day ppv. So because of that it was kind of hard to see where they were gonna go for King of the Ring.

    • @murraysaucedo897
      @murraysaucedo897 4 роки тому

      Blueblur23 yeah I was really expecting Rock to go over at WM2000 but I was put off by the main event being a Fatal 4way back then I thought a singles match would’ve been the way to go especially at Mania. I kinda knew that HHH would go over in the Iron Man match because a friend at school leaked that Taker was returning during that match. Long story short this friend also leaked that Nash would be the one to end Goldbergs streak but had it not been leaked to me then yeah I wouldn’t have thought Rock would drop the belt back to HHH so quickly.

      I wouldn’t say it “sucked,” but compared to the rest of the shows in 2000, this one was definitely a rung or two below the rest. Overall, WWF was on a hot streak that year. Great booking and great in-ring work.
