🫡 Our Hero. No one has done a better job at this than you. Most people who try either give up after reaching an hour or two, or they don’t go into as much detail.
the moving vlogs would be insane. honestly, the moving videos are among some of my favorites. including the building out of the buildings. really enjoy the logistics and whatnot of it all.
Me too. I wish they made another channel just for more content on this. But I guess it all goes to Floatplane now, and some to the main channel here on UA-cam.
I'm not sure if crossing the US/CAN boarder with the equipment is possible/legal. It'd cost essentially nothing to do a giant painted logo in the parking lot.

I don’t really do metal either but enjoyed the Sabaton soundtrack when playing EU4. Seems like they have some more niche hits, along with the very metal metal.
I don't know anything about Sabaton, but it sounds like Linus just doesn't like death metal and screamo. He might be cool with the more "normal" metal stuff.
@@CMon_Jack He's making a callback joke to Dan and Luke playing dumb with Linus, because people assumed everything in their videos could be written off. That would be a very strongly worded statement though, I don't think I should go around saying that to people..
Or let your employees who can work remotely like software engineers , editors , designers , support employees etc work from their homes and free up tons of space? I know crazy idea since you cant trust your employees and you have to micromanage everything they do.

Just want to make a comment on your Colliers statement in the parentheses. Colliers is an Australian real estate company based out of Canada, but they pretty much operate worldwide. I just didn't think "canadian real estate thingy" was very accurate.
I would love to see a "Young People Try Windows 11" video. I'm a college junior and most of my friends don't even know how to do basic things like use file explorer or extract a ZIP file (or know what a ZIP file is). I feel like tech literacy has declined significantly and because most programs wrap every step in a really simple interface (like Adobe apps or Office automatically saving everything to cloud storage and just giving users a recent files list) it stops people from learning fundamental concepts about the OS or computers in general.
@@rallen2410 Surely. But that point is not now, and not anytime in the near future. I still very much consider navigating folders and files to be a critical skill among others that many of my peers don't understand. Whether it's changing the audio output, basic shortcuts, or even unpinning things from the taskbar, they very much struggle to do anything other than connect to Wi-Fi and search things in Chrome. I'm not expecting them to be flying through the terminal, but they clearly lack some of the knowledge that I feel is crucial.
@@valkaielod Absolutely, I think that's a big part of it. We also used Chromebooks in middle and high school here so everything they did was in a browser for years.

20:00 - I worked with a city planner that outsourced the cities permit reviewing to her own permit reviewing LLC. Basically, she was selecting herself to review the permits, paying herself twice. The name of the company was the planners last name, so it wasn't even a secret. I have no idea how it is legal, but somehow it is.
You can do plenty of illegal things if only a select few know of it and you're friends with the right people. Most justice systems in the world appear to be very skewed towards those in power. For example, let's look at the USA model: above everything else is the supreme court, where the judges are appointed by those in power, and they will generally always be on the side of the big sponsors of the political party that brought them in.
Depends on local laws (I'm saying this as a "I can't possibly know the laws everywhere" thing) , but in general terms it would be suuuper illegal due to the corruption potential. Official actors should never have a stake in the work they do. Imagine a judge who was overseeing their own divorce case?
Those large estate "farms" may be selling hay. Requires almost no land prep each season and the only times equipment is required is once in early spring and then the mid summer harvest. I make more off hay from my farm than till crops most years.
Plus in most of CANZUK & CUNA, farmland remains as farmland however you can have a house (or mansion), machinery shed, wood shed, stables, hayshed, etc. At no point are you required to actively farm the land - just that it remains as a farm or that it could be actively farmed in the future.
I know right! I put it on while cooking breakfast to have something to do my Saturday home cleaning to and the show was over before I even began cleaning. Very disappointing.
1:05:00 - Robot vacuums can be extremely helpful for people who cannot do it themselves for whatever reason. In Denmark pensioners (and certain other groups) are entitled to help in the home for a certain number of hours a week, and if they have robot vacuum those hours do not have to be used for vacuuming every week. Some of the robot vacuums can also wash your floors, which again frees up time, and sometimes instead of using an hour a week on vacuuming and washing floors, they can instead use 15 minutes on emptying out the vacuum and refilling the washer part.

On the topic of business leasing. A local Wendy's restaurant was leasing their building, they got told on a Friday that Sunday would be their last day, they have been leasing the building for about 30 years. Anyone who wants to look it up, it's a Brantford ON (West Street) location.
There is, well was, a little hotdog/burger/ice cream kinda restaurant in my town (they had other stuff too but were like an old school tasty-freeze kinda place) that's been around for almost 50 years with the same family owning it but the actual restaurant operations being leased out to various other people over the past 25 or so years. Last month one of the family members (I think it was the old man that originally started the place) died and the next day the current lease holders were told that the end of business that day was their last day because the family wanted nothing to do with being in the restaurant business or property rental business anymore. Pretty sure there is now a lawsuit in the works because of it.
I don't know how common this is in other countries, but in here, it's not rare for a large company to establish itself away from the city, where land is cheap, and provide the employees with a bus shuttle between the company and some stops in the city. LTT tech-fied bus for employees when?
Don't know why this is such a huge problem but its pretty normal in germany to have a 40 min - 1h 20 drive from work and the same time back. Hell almost 1/3rd of people i worked with at different companies travelled almost 2 1/2 hours each day by train to come to work, not even includng the time it takes them to wake up and get ready.
As Luke and Linus have both said on multiple occasions, Don't per-order anything. So I waited to buy the LUX backpack. I feel like I have been waiting years only to find out that now I can not buy one. It saddens me greatly. I can understand from a business stand point if it does not come back. I really hope your new supplier can work with you to produce something. Maybe alongside a LUX commuter? I would buy one of those as well.
Big agree with this. I think some things definitely should be exceptions to the no preorders rule. Like, for example, products that are already designed and vetted, and just need to gauge interest or raise funds for a production run,
I mean.. actually kind of get that.. initially I was just going to try to say something snappy about productize man tent consumerism but.. pre-ordering is extremely distractive to the overall landscape bed, while I do understand the actual components involved here.. I actually went on throw some thumbs up to you for not doing it, despite the forces of FOMO tugging at you.. if if that could happen more than once we might have a better gaming industry and technology industry in general.. But.. sadly.. oh well.
@XDRosenheim there might be. Just because it's a physical thing doesn't mean it will get made/shipped. Ask Luke about the hammer crowbar. But I would trust the LTT store a bit more to pre order from
@@halliktom1 It should be noted that if you ever "buy" something, and do not get the promised product, you can always file a chargeback through your bank.
It baffles me how difficult it has been to cancel subscriptions in the US. Over here in Norway, with what seems like *reasonable* consumer protections at this point, cancelling with just a few clicks has been a thing since forever.
Yes but across Europe, we're also used to having annual leave, paternity and maternity leave, ordinary voting rights, low prison populations, meat that wasn't bleached but properly slaughtered, road safety, national seatbelt laws and healthcare. Even Luke and Linus have it better than the US, but nothing like Europe or Asia. They think all that stuff is communism, or infringes on their liberty.
@@jonevansauthor We certainly could improve in many areas, but it's really not as dystopian as you paint it out to be. We definitely have issues but so too does every country, even in Europe. There might be disagreements on how to fix a certain issue, but there are very few issues which people claim "communism or infringes on their liberty". Comparing any one individual country in Europe to the USA as a whole is also sort of disingenuous. The closer comparison is comparing each state to each country. Some states are much better than others in every aspect you list. But of course doing that takes a lot more effort and space so I understand why we don't do that online. But addressing the problems you think we have, annual leave while perhaps not as generous as European countries isn't nonexistent. 87% of employees have access to some combination of paid personal leave, sick leave, family leave, and/or vacation. 79% of all private sector employees have access to paid vacation time. But the people who work part time jobs and the lowest 10% of earners however are half as likely to have paid vacation time. On top of paid leave, required work hours I think is a problem in the USA. For some reason we work a lot more than most countries and receive less benefits for it (from our employers). I think you would be hard pressed to find any worker who didn't want both of these to improve, but sadly corporations have power to prevent that. It does continue to improve slowly though. Paternity/Maternity leave on the federal level is 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave. But obviously unpaid leave sucks. Only eleven states offer paid family leave programs. So yes we could definitely do better. Pretty much the only dispute in voting rights is whether you need an ID to vote or not. I believe every country in Europe requires them. So there is a dispute, but the outcome is either become like Europe or stay like we have been where realistically ID hasn't been a problem. Most people have an ID. I do find it odd it's an argument, but in the end I don't think it matters. I don't really care either way and I think most people would agree, but politicians like their soundbites. There is no denying the USA arrests far too many people. The prison population has somehow declined 20% since the peak in 2008 while still being incredibly high. I for one hope we are able to make further reductions and I think most people in the USA would agree. Our chicken is chlorine rinsed, but honestly I can't say if that's good or bad. From what i understand this is an animal welfare issues and not a health/food issue. The chlorine rinse decreases the need for hygienic environments for the chickens to be raised. But if that is of concern to someone they can pay more to have a chicken raised in better conditions that wasn't chlorine rinsed. So really, not an issue. Too many people die on the roads in the USA, but the reasons why are varied and many. We certainly have big states and a big country where driving is the only feasible transportation in most scenarios, but is that the cause I don't know. Some people point to Canada to disprove that, but really 90% Canadians live within 100-125 miles of the border so really the comparison isn't there. But I for one feel perfectly safe driving and I think the majority agree. Honestly I would think the people who don't feel safe are probably the ones not in vehicles like pedestrians or bicyclists. I'm all for cities designing better for them. It's true we don't have a national seat belt law, but 49/50 states have laws that require them. New Hampshire doesn't require them for those 18+ but does require them for everyone under 18. And finally healthcare. I think most Americans agree the price of our healthcare system sucks. Thoughts on how to fix that definitely vary, but hopefully we can find a way. However I don't think you will find many people who are worried about the quality of the healthcare they will receive. And they will receive it no matter if they can pay or not.
I am curious what subscriptions you are having trouble cancelling in the US. I have never had a subscription that required more than a few clicks to cancel. Amazon was perhaps the worst, and it was like 3 or 4 clicks.
@@jonevansauthorWe have most of that stuff too. You have a collapsing welfare state and rapidly shrinking population. Western Europe is like a ritzy retirement community, and its inhabitants know nothing about the US except biased BS John Oliver told them.
this advice is more applicable to items with larger manufacturing count than a limited edition backpack. i.e. not preordering a game which you can buy after it comes out and gets reviewed, is much more different than not preordering a limited backpack which you have a slim chance of grabbing after release.
ruling against ISP's will literally kill the internet providing as a business. ISP's will run out of clients if they actually become trigger-happy. does ANYONE even understand how much global GDP is tied up with internet in general? unreal.
That's also the deterrent to people doing it. Someone may be lucky and have two ISPs in their area and switch to the second when they get dropped from the first. But almost unilaterally, nobody will want to risk being permanently locked out of home internet, so they won't risk another ban.
@LinusTechTips 1:37:00 Thanks for calling out the zip carabiner form, which I've now filled in. Linus saying his music taste is random and giving those examples is like the joke in blues brothers where they play at the country bar and they say "we get both kinds of music! Country AND western!" It's random like the shuffle play on a public jukebox at a bar lol
@@battmarn correct, I mean I don't have a problem with that. But calling your collection "random" when it's mostly stuff you'd hear on the radio is just a bit... Sheltered. I worked in a rental warehouse-turned-gym. One landlord owned every building in the area, and wasn't looking to sell. They charged us our triple net as if they were fixing our AC, but since the unit was on the outside the building, they refused to fix it.
In all commercial leased spaces i have ever had, the tenant was responsible for AC repairs and maintenance. That's why I have always required an inspection of the units by a third party.

their neighbour is basically the old guy rom UP refusing to give up his lot and being surrounded by LTT on all sides, I wonder if Linus has considered lots of balloons. but really Linus should maybe see if he can actually give the neighbour a deal they can't refuse, help him find a bigger unit for the same price exactly where he wants to be (excluding the spot he's already in), but it would be much easier to find a dream move for him than it is to find the dream move for LTT, even offer to move his stuff out for him
he's just pissed because the obvious way rich should use this loop hole is to build a moderate sized castle, with accompanying fortifications, and then have serfs work/live on the farm land.
1:04:21 my wife works for a big professional cleaning company and she’s always bringing Professional cleaning tools home for our house, and one that we use all the time are those deep sucking Carpet Cleaners, and the water that comes out of those things when you pour it down, the drain is almost black every single time we use it, and we use them pretty often usually once a month, if you care about being sanitary, then don’t get a carpet. 1:23:50 what Dan is talking about is a pain in the ass to solve! Can cause A LOT OF ISSUES on audio apps, it took me so much time to figure it out and get my studio working. It's been like that for years and it would be a great topic for LTT to cover in a video! It can cause freezes on games too, not only audio apps. Please LTT shed some light into it, maybe with enough noise DEVs will fix it. It usually has to do with nvidia drivers, but in my case it was related to core parking on my Intel 12900K and nvidia drivers. In some PCs you almost have to disable all power management to get it working. (I used multiple audio interfaces, it was not related to one specific model/brand. Also happened o different PCs for me) Regarding your streaming issues, Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling on Windows causes this when I'm streaming with my Quest... disable that, it might help
I figured my VR stuttering issues were related more to the fact I'm still clinging on to my Samsung WIndows mixed reality headset, so I haven't bothered to troubleshoot. I'll check out the hardware accelerated GPU scheduling thing for sure though. Did the nVidia studio drivers make any difference for you when troubleshooting your audio stuff? Don't know if that's a route I should look into as well.
@@BenMagargee Unfortunately studio drivers made no difference. I Used DDU to remove the drivers and than another tool to install a barebones nvidia driver with telemetry and some other features disabled. I'll see if I can find a link
What Luke doesn't understand is that in most of CANZUK & CUNA, farmland remains as farmland however you can have a house (or mansion), machinery shed, wood shed, stables, hayshed, etc. At no point are you required to actively farm the land - just that it remains as a farm or that it could be actively farmed in the future.
@@LukeLafrenierenot as stupid as it first seems. Farmland means land with topsoil. We DO need to track that, preserve that even if it’s not being actively farmed on. Because we have a topsoil crisis coming. And your studio, your suburb, your road, is infinitely less important than the limited resource that stops us all from starving to death. Yes there should be limits on how long you can own farmland with out farming it. And corporations absolutely shouldn’t get to own it. But you have to get why these laws exist. Actually I bet you don’t. And that’s okay. Almost nobody in tech has looked into soil science. Maybe you guys could? Look into the viability of home rapid composters. Do a video about industrial vs pile vs home machine composting.
@@MycaeWitchofHyphae I get why the law exists, I grew up in the area. I'm assuming you're talking about mineral nutrient reduction in foods? I could chat GPT it to sound smart but I think that would just prove your point. My issue - Which I thought was rather obvious - Wasn't that we were retaining land for agriculture, it's that it's getting scammed from the people by the rich and crimal. I personally know people running the scam I described on the show and it disgusts me. My issue is with the corruption, not the preservation of good topsoil/farm land/etc. I would be stoked if my tax dollars supported topsoil renewal projects, we have a compost bin in our appartment, my parents have a compost heap. Further Linus: "Our Lux backpacks were on pre-order for years, to the point that people were complaining that they hadn't gotten the thing that they ordered, but now that they are in we will talk about how the 10 extras we ordered are in stock once... and they are gone... We waited years as the two people sitting in the room next to me begged for tall T-shirts, then I finally gave in and ordered a small quantity of them, and everyone bought them so fast they are gone." Linus was SO not interested during Luke's Space X segment. I feel bad for buddy Luke but I'm so with him every time he talks about AI or space stuff. Much love, LLD
I had wanted a plaid flannel for quite some time, but I always ended up cutting it from my order because I wanted other things more. Then I finally got one and immediately fell in love with it. I now own one purple one and two of every other color. There are more days I wear one of them than days I don't. What I'm saying is this: the flannels are absolutely awesome, but until I first wore one, they came across as just good.
school buses are a legit form of transportation! Especially for industrial parks that can't really have good transit service since your entire warehouse might only have 100 people. The independence of your own car is nice but how much is that flexibility really worth?
I was scoffing at Linus a bit when he talked about this random music, thinking of Sabaton, and then he goes and lists my favourite song from them. Caught me off guard. I'm not the biggest metal fan, but love the history centric song. Can only recommend
I mean in fairness "additional rent" happens in residential as well. They just raise the price for the next person. My last hoise i re ted before i got a mortgage was around £700pm. They increased prices and wanted to charge me £720 (£20 quid who cares in this context right)? We were leaving anyway. New advertised price pm? £925. People who rent, jusy save everything you can. Have no life for as long as you can and get a house (be smart and dont get a house with no savings etc though, dont screw yourself)
The company i work for pays about 700k annually for their warehouse. 2 years ago they had the option to buy a building at 3.1 million and they decided to rent instead.
You could always move to China you could likely buy half a ghost city with your budget xD It'll even be within reasonable range of high speed rail to more useful places!
A tech-based solution to bringing everyone together instead of finding a whole new patch of dirt would be to get an intercom solution like Green-go that provides communication across your whole network and building. We would use these from producers desks, to editors, to camera ops. It makes communications super easy. Let us know if you want to chat more about it. It could even just be a cool video from the tech perspective.
If LMG is going to build their own building, they should take a look at how the old Bell labs building functioned, and the ease with which it facilitated contact and collaboration among employees.
Regarding commercial rent, residential landlords in many countries do the same, EVERY cost is passed onto the tenant in the form of rent increases. Buildings insurance, letting agent management fee's , building repairs are all passed onto the tenant. The majority of landlords will speak out saying they do not do this and the reason they do this is because they do not want the general public to know that residential tenants are being totally ripped off by residential landlords. Their actions also affect the rental market because all the extra costs that should be being paid by the landlord but are not pushes the up the cost of the monthly rent which means estate agents and letting agents around the country advise their landlord clients to increase their monthly rent to match what they are seeing elsewhere. Commercial landlords have been screwing over their tenants for decades, residential landlords are seeing how commercial landlords do it and are copying them.
For me as a Cities Skylines fan. My only issue with the release of CS2 was the fact that the performance is WORSE than the original. You can excuse lack of content with DLCs and a modding community in tow, but the lack of performance is the real killer for a lot of us.
To maintain your farm status you have to show a certain amount of revenue. They need to sell some kind of product. Been there, done that. We typically kept some chickens and a couple head of cattle. For a while we had a deal with a forestry company, growing trees for research. PS for Luke - there is legislation coming up to prohibit building houses over 5,400 sq. ft. on ALR land.
e bikes and e scooters are such a good solution for people who work in large, low population density, flat industrial facilities to zip around quickly. unfortunately a lot of less cool places would be worried about liability, and restrict employees to certified industrial vehicles only.
The NNN lease discussion is why commercial leases MUST be reviewed and negotiated by an attorney. It’d be absolutely crazy to not have an attorney involved.
I fell asleep to this playing in the background, and I got so annoyed at Luke completely ignoring me and answering random questions constantly. Dream Luke needs to work on his listening skills.

I work in an office with a lot of 22-28 year olds. They have extremely poor OS literacy, don't undertand multiple desktops, snapping, alt tab etc...
I agree but at some point those skills are no longer the fundamentals as you don’t need them anymore
@@rallen2410 Surely. But that point is not now, and not anytime in the near future. I still very much consider navigating folders and files to be a critical skill among others that many of my peers don't understand.
It wasn't just no one was looking into it.
No no Mr Red Tape from the council, we’re farming servers. It’s a server farm.

In the USA, the government allows huge companies to scam us
@@jonevansauthor We certainly could improve in many areas, but it's really not as dystopian as you paint it out to be.

Linus”don’t preorder, wait for people to have reviews” also Linus “idk man if you wanted to lux bag should of bought it”
this advice is more applicable to items with larger manufacturing count than a limited edition backpack.
i.e. not preordering a game which you can buy after it comes out and gets reviewed, is much more different than not preordering a limited backpack which you have a slim chance of grabbing after release.
ruling against ISP's will literally kill the internet providing as a business.

Linus Sabaton is a great guy
Linus saying his music taste is random and giving those examples is like the joke in blues brothers where they play at the country bar and they say "we get both kinds of music! Country AND western!"

Also happened o different PCs for me)
Regarding your streaming issues, Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling on Windows causes this when I'm streaming with my Quest... disable that, it might help

@@MycaeWitchofHyphae I have a compost bin. Its large, somewhere between 100l to 500l? Its not uncommon here.
I'm in a different country though. 😃
I don't hate hotdogs because I said I like hamburgers.
Sounds like you'll need to stop it "degrading" beyond a meadow, then. If it starts to get shrubs everywhere?
just bought 2 LTT screwdrivers retro and original for my dad, and as a welder who uses tools regularly i must say i am quite impressed, they are the best feeling drivers out there
Linus "If you want the things you have to buy then when we have them, don't complain when they are gone"
Also Linus: "Our stocking situation is terrible, we have swimsuits in January and Coats and Flannels in June, but then no one buys them, so we put them on clearance to get rid of them because no one buys them and we don't restock them because they didn't sell out of season."
Further Linus: "Our Lux backpacks were on pre-order for years, to the point that people were complaining that they hadn't gotten the thing that they ordered, but now that they are in we will talk about how the 10 extras we ordered are in stock once... and they are gone... We waited years as the two people sitting in the room next to me begged for tall T-shirts, then I finally gave in and ordered a small quantity of them, and everyone bought them so fast they are gone."
Final Linus: "WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE ORDERED THEM FASTER IF YOU WANTED THEM! THIS IS YOUR FAULT REALLY! Our bad stock management and promotion of goods is the consumers fault for not knowing about the products."
(awaits his shadow ban from sad linus)
I'm already looking forward to the next series of moving vlogs!
I miss the 4 hours plus shows. They were perfect for my Saturday morning chores 😂
I appreciate the two pockets for water bottles in the new bag, no one needs that much water but water and coffee. Yes.
Video arranging the studios would be great.
And an official linus tech tips studio tour.
gerardundone did one around last LTX which is worth watching
Linus saying crypto is an asset that's not volatile is the hot take of the century lmao. I've seen people go from poor to millionaire to poor again in a day

2:02:17 dude does not sound thrilled with the after hours work call! Luke’s expressions follow too ha
After more than a decade of watching LTT, hearing Luke say "instead of hookers and blow..." actually blew my mind
Linus: doesn't like metal
Also linus: likes sabaton
Linus was SO not interested during Luke's Space X segment. I feel bad for buddy Luke but I'm so with him every time he talks about AI or space stuff. Much love, LLD
2 hours and 13 minutes, that hurts. I need atleast 3 hours to distract from my misery
UA-cam is truly a supreme distractor. Confronting anxiety and existence is cringe.
Only 20 minutes of after dark :(
I had wanted a plaid flannel for quite some time, but I always ended up cutting it from my order because I wanted other things more. Then I finally got one and immediately fell in love with it. I now own one purple one and two of every other color. There are more days I wear one of them than days I don't.
What I'm saying is this: the flannels are absolutely awesome, but until I first wore one, they came across as just good.
It was shorter than usual, but still fun nonetheless.
It has a name, his name is Linus

1:40:19 I turned mine into the tank top love it and after hearing how poorly they sold, I’m glad I got mine
I assume it'd be too expensive, but I know some companies near me have started running charter buses for employees to avoid paying for parking
school buses are a legit form of transportation!
2 years ago they had the option to buy a building at 3.1 million and they decided to rent instead.
buying a brand new building is murphy's law for everything about to go majorly south
Gotta own buildings rather than lease to make sure situations like these never happen.
It's simple, buy two lots. One for the building, one for the new multi-storey car park.
You could always move to China you could likely buy half a ghost city with your budget xD It'll even be within reasonable range of high speed rail to more useful places!
The fact that Luke has sea shanties playing for the birds sounds like the most Luke thing ever
sabaton is awesome! its mostly historical battle power metal. seen them in concert a few times
01:21:02 Linus does not discuss moving
If LMG is going to build their own building, they should take a look at how the old Bell labs building functioned, and the ease with which it facilitated contact and collaboration among employees.
I want somebody to look at me like Luke does at Linus at 50:45

Luke sneaking random Letterkenny references when I'm currently watching the show BECAUSE of him, makes me happy

Is it just me or are all the chapters wrong? I can't find any of the subjects within their chapters

e bikes and e scooters are such a good solution for people who work in large, low population density, flat industrial facilities to zip around quickly. unfortunately a lot of less cool places would be worried about liability, and restrict employees to certified industrial vehicles only.
