The cage helps them slowly get used to her pheromones and simulates an emerging queen, but it isn't completely necessary to use, especially with a queenless hive which is in the mindset of rearing a new queen. The cage has a higher success rate for sure tho.
@@33MileBeesso what was the "damnit" about? I thought either they rejected her or you got stung. Glad neither happened, but the question remains: what happened?
Wish you would have kept the recording longer. From where you stopped it looked like the beast started swimming rejecting the queen. I did read comments saying that she was accepted it would have been nice to see that. Hope you can understand from the video why everybody is thinking otherwise. Good luck with everything. These are very important and really awesome for the most part. A lot of people don't understand that they don't attack for no reason
Yea, I have another clip of moving her to the other side of the entrance, my recording skills were horrible and I didn't fully intend to upload this, but it took off so I guess I'd leave it. I still might actually edit the other one and upload it.
It's very rare that they don't accept a new queen especially when there is none. It does happen but it's about genetics. And about 70% of honey bees today are related in the United States.
Clip with a candy plug . not beating you up .. but to that give she's a foreign bee so they'll most likely ball her unless their made to slowly accept her.. been there ..
@MrAkurvaeletbe they did not kill her, she's mated and laying eggs. I said damn it cuz she was walking away from the entrance instead of into it at first.
Damn it? .. what! Did the kill her what happened? If they did I could have done without seeing that! Could do with some explanation about what's going on next time.
I've done if for years, along with thousands of other beekeepers, a hopelessly queenless hive will accept a virgin queen through the entrance just fine 🙂. This one is mated and laying just fine currently.
Maybe they are enjoying their life without a queen! No taxes. All the royal jelly they can eat. Weekends off.
Ahhh the drone life!
That is awesome the drone life
😅😅😅😅😅😅
❤❤❤
Maybe 🤔
Aren’t you supposed to introduce the new queen slowly in a cage with marshmallow plug? For them to rescue her?
there are many ways you can introduce queens, this is one way to introduce a virgin queen

I posted to him, I've had luck covering her in honey from the host hive and when they are done saving her they bring her in.
SOUNDS LIKE HE GOT STUNG at the end.😂
@@esthersanchez2264 nope didn't get stung, she started walking away from the entrance
I’m pretty sure there’s supposed to be a flowery trumpet fanfare and a loud announcement when a Queen arrives.
And a red carpet
I love all the people telling you what you need to do. When i bet 10000000% that they dont have bees lol 😂. This world is crumbling fast
Yea, and she made it in and is mated and laying eggs and I didn't get stung, so it worked like every other time I've done it
@@33MileBeesso what was the "damnit" about? I thought either they rejected her or you got stung. Glad neither happened, but the question remains: what happened?
@2dawgsmiked684 she started walking away from the entrance for a hot second and I forgot to cut that off the video
@@33MileBees oh, okay. At least it generated comments 😛
@@2dawgsmiked684 yea 😆
Gotta put a queen in a clip to get them used to her scent
Not always, if a colony is hopelessly queenless, they will accept a virgin queen as a direct release, like this one
Not like that one 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@ddh3098 actually that one did go into the hive, she is mated and laying just fine
You say that, all i hear was "If she goes in......... damn it" which would lead one to believe it failed to work
I'm guessing he meant she "eventually " went in.

ere you just stung the once or more ?
@@Jasfras1 wasn't stung at all actually
They looked like excited puppies for that new queen.
Yea, they didn't have a queen for a couple weeks
He got stung, don’t stand in front of the hive. That’s their flight pattern. If u interfere, I will get stung 😢
Nope, I didn't get stung lol. its always fun to block the flight path and watch the wave of bees come into the entrance.
Depends on your bees. I work without a suit and have never been stung by my Buckfast bees.
.... I call bs.!
No bees ------ no food.
Untrue. Honeybees aren't native to the Americas and life went on fine without them. Many crops are wind pollinated.
it would be better if you used the queen cage so they can gradualy except her
Accept
I've found a maybe, usually, put honey from that hive on her and when they are done saving her they bring her in.
I'll try that on another batch of queens to see how they react

There was no rush, she went in fine and she's mated and laying eggs

Way to ruin the bro party. Time to clean up the hive, and back to doing chores

She made it, I did not get stung

This is just another way to introduce, no different than putting a virgin in a mating nuc.
So all I saw was all the bees on her, so did she go in or did she fly off he walked away?
She ended up going in, she's mated and laying eggs now
Didn't look like she had any wings.. By his comment i'm assuming he thinks it didn't work I guess.
@@juliesmead5503 she had wings, my comment was because she started walking away from the entrance, but she found her way in just fine
That was fast they jumped on her
Yea, they were queenless for a few weeks and were desperate
Maybe stand to the side of the hive and not at the entrance, they do not like things in their flight path
ever heard of a cage?????
Yup, I use them with mated queens.
Do you have a follow up to this video I was wondering if she was accepted or they tried to ball her at the entrance. Truly interested ty
I haven't made a followup, I should. But she is mated and laying fine.
@@33MileBees thank you for responding back 👍🏻
Well, you did not put the Queen in the hive. You put it outside of the hive. should have put it inside, maybe.
Virgin queens are often introduced to hopelessly queenless hives this way often. This one however took a detour before going in.
Breathing all loud from walking is a sign to exercise
Or maybe I'm missing part of a lung and that's how I am most times in the heat and humidity. :)
Or has heart problems.
Oh shoot we got a doctor in the house, im missing one of my feet after an amputation what’s that a sign of?

That woukd be cool
Why is he breathing so hard? 😂😂😂
Because I'm missing part of a lung, thanks for laughing

The accepted her, shes laying as of today.
They killed her, you can see them tearing her wings off at the end, thats why he says ”dammit”…
