Fun fact: when making Tyranny, Jules asked the producer if the lyrics could sound like the listeners could make up they're own lyrics. That's why to this day I sing: "Meat, but a buzzy meat!"

I don't think he asked for that. I read a different thing... He tried to work with the producer Shawn Everett to make the lyrics more understandable to us because the first time he heard the songs the lyrics weren't comprehensible and he wanted people to know what he was saying since this record lyrics are really powerful and important even to a moral extent. Loved the album Tyranny! (And now Virtue!) (but not as much as Tyranny)

People saying "Come back to The Strokes please!" or "This doesn't sound like The Strokes" Are you really that dope? THIS IS JULIAN + THE VOIDZ, Not The Strokes.
This is something he wanted to do, this is nothing to do with TS.
It doesn't matter if he is the lead singer of TS, he always try something different, because he can do whatever he want. Just like Albert or Fab did. Don't you get it?
And if you don't like it, then go to watch The Strokes videos and stop crying :)

The highest compliment I think I can pay this song is the fact that, when The Voidz ended their set with it at Shaky Knees in May, the first ten rows of the audience were moshing simultaneously by its close. Surreal. No further testament needed to the power of a great (and timely) song.

  • @skylinezAblaze

This song challenges you to have a reaction. You either love it or hate it. No other song sounds anything like this, pure originality.
Julian is an artist that pushes the envelope and creates music with a passion and it is very obvious. My inspiration all the way from is this it?, phrazes, and now tyranny.
A breathe of fresh air to my ears and the music industry. Salute to The Voidz aswell respect from an aspiring musician.
Last but not least the music video is incredible. GreetingS to the director.

    Lyrics:
please, come on babe, they'll end up all confused,
what's the point of telling people if they won't use it?
fly on the wall, bird of prey in the mall
it's the eye in the sky, where no eagles fly
    meat,
    predators eat meat.
    predators eat meat.
    ceremony or a speech,
in a church or on a beach,
    predators eat.
the wolf will cry sheep as they take him away,
we plot in our sleep but follow orders all day
the rhythm is for you but the song is for me,
the meaning might be secret but the melody is free
    meat,
    predators eat meat.
    predators eat meat.
let all my big dreams sink in,
no one to enjoy it with.
    oblivious… stay oblivious,
why can you not be more like me?
    hiding in a nearby tree.
    business, business, i forget,
    pray for predators i guess
uh-oh, uh-oh, here we go, all our future's thru that door
future future's come to this, everybody cheats i guess
let's go down to mexico, 'there's a couple guys i know'
all our future's come to this, i don't want my friends to know
all our future's come to this, i don't want our friends

This is exactly the kind of material I could see him building up to release on a side project album. His views on today's society/people in power etc. It's gonna have plenty messages and lyrics to digest, this album. It won't please everyone that looks for just a catchy sound, but if you take the time I think it'll be appreciated by most. Then again the same goes for anyone's work... I close with this: He performs Ize Of The World with the Voidz. Look at the lyrics for that song. If you understand that it helps see his visions on this...
Or I could be wrong, oh well.

I love that Jules has two amazing bands, as if they’re both sides of his personality. The Strokes are his purity and The Voidz are his chaos.

Got this album yesterday, couldn't work out why it took JC 7yrs to write a mere 9 songs for The New Abnormal then I found this.. I bloody love it, ain't heard anything that's all over the place like this LP fanfuckintastic time we'll wasted Julian ✌️

Joder entiendan, el estilo de el video y de el disco es asi, no es por falta de presupuesto, ya que Julian es dueño de la disquera.

❤ it! That bass line keeps getting stuck in my head and love his raw, screaming vocals, more than the auto-tune type.
Reminds me of when he screams "I will say, i will say; don't judge me!" - 50/50 - The Strokes, i just love the tone he gets when he's shouting/screaming lyrics.

I love the vintage sound and look. The vocals are hard to hear, but hey, that's nothing new. I always have to look up Julian's lyrics, and once I do, I'm like, "daaaaamn".

amaaaazing sound!!!!, the bass rhythm, the riff, an abrasive voice and lo-fi video thats remind me the VHS american B movies of 80's and early 90´s.
honestly this is much better than the ultimate work of the strokes.

  • @commuterail

for the last goddamn time, this is not the strokes. stop comparing it to the strokes. it isn't trying to be the strokes. it never wil be the strokes. this is good shit, the strokes are good shit. but it isn't the same good shit. stop pretending that it is.
