Joel & Ellie burying Henry & Sam is actually a huge gesture. I mean, who in this world actually gets any sort of burial?
The shows creators said that he probably did it just for ellie
they bury them in the game it's just off screen. there's an optional dialogue before you get to the dam where they discover a child's grave with a teddy bear on it. Ellie tells Joel that she forgot to put the robot on Sam's grave.
Aaa,mostly everyone in this world...😂😂😂
The bombs were mentioned in the game when you find buildings blown up, Ellie asked what happened. Tess talks about the bombs they dropped. Didn't have the scene from the show tho
Tess mentions that the bombs were dropped to prevent the spread of infected in Boston in 1x02. It's brief, but she does mention it in the show.
@@finnsheard2108 right, saying it was in game too
what im wondering is why so many yt channels relay this as a fact when its mentioned hella times in the game that bombs were dropped outside the Qz's
Yeah, the bombs were definitely in the game.
You see burned out husks of cars as a result of fire bombs in Pittsburgh.
My favorite change was definitely the death of Henry and Sam. That noise Ellie makes after Henry suicide I can't get out of my head.
That noise from Ellie has been reverberating in my head for the last week too.
I liked how the show is consistently surprising people with little changes but I’m expecting them to do some bigger changes in the later episodes
I really like the way the game did it. I find it weird when they change something big
@@BADDIELN05why would you want to watch a 1 to 1 copy of the game. At that point just replay the game. I feel these changes made the series better and interesting because we they proved the story is not the same
My only gripe is that Bill’s flashback should have served as a build up to another episode another episode to devote the scenes with Bill, Joel, and Ellie, and of course more action scenes. It would have been epic to know about Bill and THEN see him interact with the main cast.
Also small little grip, I wish they kept the whole “He’s not even hurt” quote before the ambush, that was one of my favorite scenes in the game 😭
The subtext of Henry seemingly blaming Joel in the game is that he's actually talking to himself (this was confirmed in a BTS thing), so not actually a change so much as a dialog tweak. I think in the podcast they also mentioned Lamar did several takes with different variations of the original dialog and they went with what worked best.
The audio overlapping when comparing the final Ellie and Sam conversation was a nice editing touch.
My wife finally played the game after HBO Remake. And she couldn't believe how good it was.
Yeah the Game is soo good....
Stay away from part 2 or you'll get a divorce

I'm excited for this! It's been a long time since I played The Last of Us, so I couldn't remember a lot of characters or have a good recall for the comparisons. Except for Sarah's section. Everyone remembers Sarah's section 😢
That Kansas City joke got me dying 😂😂😂
Btw, the birthday card is on sarahs desk, you can see the dinosaur etc.
I have been loving this show and the way they adapted one of my favorite games. So hyped every Sunday and hope that they go into The Last of Us 2
Great take on this part 1, looking forward to part two
Ata boy Aaron. Crushed that solo!! Belly button soup let’s goo
I’ve been binging nerd soup today. Seeing a new video pop up is nice
Just amazing so far! The changes made or details added to have been great. There are elements that are perfect for a video game but wouldn’t translate so well to live action, and they’ve done so well in knowing when to make those changes. Taking a big risk and adding so much to Frank & Bill’s story absolutely paid off in spades! Just as much as I can’t wait for the remaining episodes, I can’t wait to hear your breakdowns of those episodes!
Great comparison video! I'm hyped for the rest of the season and to hear your thoughts on it
Amazing series, amazing reviews. Please keep the videos coming!
Great video guys!
Awesome video man thanks for putting your time into this. I was 14 when I watched PewDiePie play the game so I forget a lot
Great review guys
Henry & Sam's souls up in heaven moaning about their death, when the infected victims souls say, yeah! At least you got a burial!
Great comparisons here. I am a huge fan of the game so hearing the same lines is always interesting even though the inflections are slightly different. It’s almost like replaying the game for the first time.
This episode scared the Bejus out of me! I knew Ellie survived since there's a season 2. But it is still a frightening episode to see! When they had her on the table, and she's screaming, I felt terrified. Fantastic acting by all!
god this frightens you?
Awesome video!
I read so many comments from people who played the game that they hated the changes and didn‘t like the show, so this is such a refreshing review!!
just finished watching the series and behind the scenes with the tv series and this is still well done to the story. can't wait for season 2.
You guys are the goats bro
Just finished the 2nd game a few days ago, and I can't wait to see how it'll be adapted next season!
What they did to Joel is unforgivable
The second game was so sad
@@BADDIELN05 yeah, it’d be excusable if it wasn’t so boring too but sadly it’s the most boring game there could possible be lol.
Yeah BOII!!!
Haven't watched yet but I like the game more....
However the show is a 11/10
Good way to put it! 😀
Aaron you carried this one flawlessly! Great video #goodsoup
Great video
I've been enjoying your reviews as much as the show, it feels complimentary, really
Great analysis.
Both are so great done.👍🏽
I don’t have a gaming system. SEND ME MY BLOATER TEDDY
Good video, I like everything about the show so far. Hoping the stick the landing by the end of the season.
Imagine not showing Pedro Pascal’s face! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice KC dig! 🤦♀️👍🤩
10:43 - January 6th: where the QAnon Shaman, with all of his nuclear bombs, almost took down the entire United States of America by himself.
If you read Frank's note in the game, you can tell they had a close relationship. At the very least, they were like an old married couple. Combine that with the way Bill talks about the "person [he] had to take care of" and "wising the f- up" he sounds like someone talking about an ex (especiallywhen you find out that Frank left him and that Bill didn't actually wisen up).
While they don't explicitly say the relationship was more than plutonic, the context clues are there that they had a long-running relationship that was both emotional and (likely) sexual.
This was great.
I didn't know how they would do the Canable scene.
I think my biggest issue with the show is not only that Sara is aged up, but that Sara didn't give Joel his watch - she just fixed it with his money. Plus the dialogue exchange in the game worked a whole lot better for me. Besides that, all the changes have been fantastic and work for the show.
it doesn’t matter who paid for the watch repair. the ran the errand for him since you can see he works 8am-9pm for days at a time and would never get it fixed since he hadn’t gotten it fixed since it broke. it’s been sitting in that drawer for who knows how long
Is the giveaway still available
Love how the show looks compared to the game when you put them side by side in some scenes
Sam and henry's story is just incredible. a huge change for the game but for the better.
dude both in the show and game the stories made me so sad i felt like i was gonna throw up. they're so well written, i love it
Hmm awesome remaster of a playstation classic.... or Teddy... tough call but I think I'm going with the game lol. Awesome video, I've played the first game many times but it has been a couple years so it's nice to see all the little differences.
I recently obtained the HBO series and the 1st game and would like to play the game and watch Season 1 simultaneous. What I mean is, play a segment of the game and then watch an episode (or 2). Do you perhaps know how I should go about this? Or is there info about this somewhere? Many thanks!
This is some good soup
I wish d they used the outbreak music from the game, hopefully they use it when Joel goes through St Mary’s massacre
Chiefs: Rack up 38 points on a juggernaut Eagles team Aaron: "Kansas City is getting everything handed to them"
I think neil druckmann said henry was talking to himself when he said "its all your fault" after sam turns
There have been many moments (most of the key ones actually) where I have preferred the shows take over the games.
It's clear that they've been thinking alot of about what they would've do e differently for the game in the last ten years and are not wasting the chance for a clean slate
Just watched Ep 6. Really disappointed they didn't show the big shootout with the raiders in the University from the game.
they havent crafted 1 shiv the entire show or search for 20 minutes for mats to craft those shivs
Bill and Frank’s story was beautifully done in the show. I think it shows how no matter how bad things get, we are still human. Love finds a way.
No it wasn't. It was propaganda and you ate it up.
@@dragonfoxsolid1308 😂🤣 awwww did that episode hurt your manhood?😂🤣 Do you need a tissue for your issue? You do realize that those characters were gay in the game as well right? The only difference is their relationship wasn’t happy like in the show. You’re probably one of those clowns that cried about the new Little Mermaid movie too😂🤣
Legit was a waste of 48 mins. Had absolutely 0 impact on the story. How he was portrayed in the game is how he should have been portrayed.
Everyone keeps saying it was so beautifully done but it was just nonsense to me people can say it informs joel's character but really joel would still have killed off the fire flies and doomed the world without bill's letter so it changes nothing in the game its a warning of what he would become if he doesn't change
Coulda skipped that episode and not one thing woulda changed, I despise filler episodes.
Nerd Soup on Game of Thrones: "Well, we've read the books so it needs to be accurate."
Nerd Soup on The Last of Us: "Well, we've played the games so it needs to be accurate."
Nerd Soup on Rings Of Power: "Well, we haven't read the books... Why are the nerds getting mad about accuracy?"
Considering the fact that Rings of Power has very little source material that they can adapt from, the comparison isn't very good. Both Game of Thrones and The Last of Us have the full breathe of source material available to the adaptors, while Rings of Power only had the appendices from the LotR books
@@thejediofchicago6580 I think you missed my point. Nerd Soup's attitude about people having problems about RoP were overall dismissive and called them "haters" and "internet trolls" while two facts hold true:
1. None of Nerd Soup have read Lord of The Rings, yet alone any source material connected to RoP (The Silmarillion, Lost Tales, Appendices, etc). They base all of their knowledge and opinions on Jackson's movies... that's it. They have no idea about the First or Second Age.
2. They debate and knit pick the GoT and Last of Us shows because they love the original material and are fans... yet were dismissive about people doing the same thing about the RoP without them having any firsthand knowledge of the written world and the lore outside of Jackson's movies.
Nerd Soup doesn't have to agree with the critics of RoP. If they liked the show, that's their choice. But to dismiss people who do have (justifiable) problems with a show that has little to do with the source material outside of names shows is hypocritical. I think one of them said "I haven't read the books so I don't know the material, but I like the show and I don't understand why everyone is hating on it." That would be fine if in the same show they didn't name call and condescend on Tolkien fans who like their property as much as Nerd Soup likes theirs.
I haven't played The Last of Us so I don't know the source material, but I am enjoying the show and listen to the fans who do have problems with it. I acknowledge their problems, but that doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the show. I don't have to dismiss their opinion in order for mine to be valid in other words.
@@swordmonkey6635 I might have missed your point, and I apologize for that. The comparison between the three franchises/adaptations isn't apples to apples though, since Amazon only had a tiny fraction of the rights to adapt when making the Rings of Power, while HBO had the creators of both Game of Thrones and Last of Us working with them when creating their two adaptations. They couldn't use the Silmarillion or the Lost Tales when making the show, they could only use what was mentioned in the appendices in the LOTR books.
Should people be called "haters" or "internet trolls" for not liking something, or not agreeing with how something is adapted? No, of course not. But at the same time, Rings of Power was massively constricted on the material that they could use in telling their story as compared to Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, and I've seen a lot of people who don't like the show ignore that fact. I'm not saying they can't like the show, or that the show doesn't have it's problems, but to compare the adaptation situations between the three is one I can't really make in 100% good faith because one (Rings of Power) only had like a 5 page outline available to them compared entire books/games (GoT/TLOU) available to them.
Amazon dug their own grave by deciding to buy the rights to such a creatively limited amount of lore (they wanted to use recognized names from the Jackson movies) and make this limited material stretch out over a multiple season arch (echoes of The Hobbit trilogy). The fact that they bought the rights to material that was so dependent on lore outside of what they could produce (First Age and Age of Valinor i.e. The Silmarillion) means they weren't really concerned with the written story and lore and more about the name recognition for their PG-13 version of GoT. Amazon could've just as easily set their series in the Second Age and used unknown characters that only brushed up against the big names, but had their own stories and adventures vaguely connected to the making of the Rings. Have a show set entirely in Numenor for instance and focus on the golden age of man and their eventual fall. Focus, not just have it as a side thing to Galadriel's fictious adventures.
My comparison was Nerd Soup's hypocritical stance on spending hours breaking down and debating changes in the franchises they like while poo pooing fans for having problems with a franchise they know little about. Like I said, they can like the RoP, but for them to smirk and dismiss fans who don't is petty.
@@swordmonkey6635 The fact that Amazon couldn't get the rights to the other stories is on the Tolkien Estate, not Amazon completely. If the Tolkien Estate didn't want to sell the other rights, then they didn't have too.
I do agree that Amazon should have made the show around original characters (though they did add original characters in the show, and some people raked them over the coals for it because apparently black elves and dwarves are bad), I would have made the series an anthology series with each season focusing on a specific event from the Second Age (first season: leading up to Rings being forged, second season: War between Elves and Sauron, third season: Fall of Numenor, fourth and fifth seasons: War of the Last Alliance), and who knows, maybe they are doing that since the first season only covered the forging of the Elven rings.
Never had the chance to play the game, so like for many games I’ve just watched the gameplay and skipped around to all the scenes, and the show is kinda starting to seem like a lesser version than that experience unfortunately
Originals are always better (in most cases anyway)
First. Aaron showing Beau he can do a pod on his own as well. When is Teddy going to step up and knock one out of the park?
Amazing

Yoooo never played TLOU and was looking for a another reason to play!
Can you believe it's been 6 months since the series ended. It felt like a long time since season 1 ended.? It's crazy.
My son asked me yesterday, "Why didn't you ever tell me about this game. It's awesome!" Haha, he was way too young back then for that content!
I loved that Joel’s voice actor dies the exact same way you would in game if a bloater grabbed you. The way they bring things back from the game is great
That was actually Tommy's voice actor. Joel's VA played James, the guy with David near the end who gets the machete to the neck
Pedro Pascal is the fucking goat 🐐
Man season 2 gonna break everyone’s hearts again
Oh I'm early early. Sup y'all
I always had a thought that if Henry and Sam survived and stuck with Ellie and Joel would henry help Joel kill everyone in that hospital and save Ellie or would he try to convince Joel that Ellie must die to make the cure and let it happen
Hounestly I just don’t feel like the actors really connect with the characters like Joel’s actor is great but everything else is like a whole new character
ooooo. what if i already follow you guys? (somehow i havent played the games yes)
i need that teddy in a bloater suit. a copy of the game would be nice too
Just what a masterpiece. The show is obviously not as good because of only 9 episode to cover a full game + dlc but the works is still crazy, can't wait for season 2
They definitely made Ellie less likeable in the show, she already wasn't the most likeable in the game so it just made it worse.
This is the first instance where I feel bad for a fictional character.
Joel went through a rough time. On his birthday the world was destroyed and his daughter died in his arms
Love the whiff @ KC , but fair game. I'm still hurting as a Eagles fan. Love you guys keep doing your thing!
Bella Ramsey isn’t the Ellie I remember. Her acting is phenomenal but look wise she’s a whole different person.
they talk faster in the show, in the game every line every delivery is more focused, pronounced i feel the vocies in the game are much much better especially Ellie
I realized that too
17:17 🏈🏆🤣
6:40 broo she got f*cked up
Yes who would do such a thing😷 Love Bella and Pedro together in this show ❤Handed to Kansas City😂
My favorite episode is definitely Episode 5.
They did Henry and Sam way better in the show!
You broke me with, "It makes sense because it seems Kansas City is getting everything handed to them these days"!!!! Brilliant!!!
The bloaters were epic in the show!
“The QZ Zone.” The Quarantine Zone Zone.
I’ve liked the changes they made so far. But where’s Nash?
If they didn’t try the blood thing and told the adults, could they have cut off sam’s leg to keep him alive?
Game was the best game in the world
The world's best character arch ever created worthy of my tears of both happyness and saddens
The show was shit

So this guy forgot about the entire scene where you escape the Boston QZ. where you see the impact site of a bomb, and the ACTUAL first time you see clickers.
So they interviewed a the Doctor who founded DNA, and yes, a fungus can live at Body Temperature.
Dope
The games is just better because we spent more time with all the characters. So the big moments hit different. Is more realistic and cold if that makes sense.
TV is not bad, is a well tv show, but is just copium viewers trying to put the game underneath the show, is just not as good.
best game, best show on series !!!!
Henry was blaming himself when he was saying that, not Joel.
I’m not a gamer, but I love the show. Where does the gameplay come in?
Nice Video and I’ve really loved the show. I’m just gonna leave this comment here for a Chance at that Game 🎉
i loved your video, and i thought it was funny you making fun of people w/old playstations (at the end of your video)...i found this particularly funny bc 2 months ago i finally decided to buy a ps5...which is a BIG upgrade from the last playstation i got (and still have)...a PS2! 🤣 and one of the 3 games i bought with it was the last of us!
