Wanted to do this for years! Well done. Not one other born east or west, could appreciate the geometry of your quest and presentation. You work a day, covering hundreds of metres +/- vertically, you've obviously covered kilometres horizontally, and your aerial timing was well met at your cello introduction. Rare to enjoy winter in Calgary without CC, but you've earned the heart.🥃🧡
As someone who was born and raised in Edmonton and since moved to Calgary, I'm so happy that you took the time to visit and document all of these locations as they are in their unassuming state. These are real life places that I grew up around just like you - waiting for busses and LRTs, looking for bears on family road trips, complaining about the weather. TLOU is a piece of personal pride for every Albertan, and I sincerely hope they come back for the next seasons (Drumheller . . . ?). I'm so excited for the future of the film industry in Alberta!!
Knowing my moms home province is where lots of TLOU was filmed makes my life complete. She was a huge movie person I know she wouldve found this awesome
The hospital they filmed at in Grande Prairie was actually the older one that the new one replaced. It’s mostly already emptied and was perfect because it’s older and run down.
As a Canadian and fan of the original game during its original release, I was beyond excited to hear that the show was going to be filmed in Canada. Makes me want to head to Alberta!
This was so awesome! The amount of work it must've taken to travel to each location and to compile the show's scenes with BTS footage. Well done, I was surprised by your sub count given the quality of the video, you earned another! You deserve plenty more.
Wow thank you! Yes... it was a crazy amount of work... but someone HAD to do it. Very thankful to have this out in the work now, I hope it brightened your day!

This was incredible to watch! So cool to see all the behind the scenes stuff and how they transformed all the buildings into post apocalyptic vibes. You put a ton of effort into this mate, well done and thanks for sharing!
I imagined that most if not every building in the show was computer generated from scratch, but to see that they made existing buildings and signs look old and degraded with such minute detail is fascinating!
No kidding. A lot was CGI, but seeing the few sets around town they were filming, most stuff was real, and they put a lot of detail into stuff that was only onscreen for seconds
The guy completely glossed over the Rice Howard Way filming location. Don’t quote me one this next bit. Someone had mentioned there were 3 locations in Edmonton. Not sure if there were three. I can confirm two locations though.
I’m so proud to be an Albertan in this moment! I got to walk the set in Canmore while it was being built and it was so cool. Such a beautiful natural film set we have here. Incredible all the work the crew did to build sets as well!
Great video! I’m from Grande Prairie, the hospital scenes were actually filmed in our OLD hospital the QEII - Queen Elizabeth II - not the new one shown in your video. They had free reign to do what they wanted in the QEII hospital as it’s upper floors weren’t in use anymore… only the lower floor offices are still in use. They had trailers/rigs and fences set up there over an entire summer during filming. I’d recognize those BIG elevator buttons anywhere… The pass thru kitchens where Joel reloaded his gun - those are so recognizable as well. Those little kitchens remind me of the days I spent there making snacks while my kids were born lol
The hospital scene was actually filmed in the Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Grande Prairie. The hospital you mention is the new hospital that was being built to replace the old QEII hospital.
This was so sick! I love how with the gas station they actually made it into a Cumberland Farms, that is such a popular gas station in New England. This show makes me appreciate ALL the small little details they used.
Very cool! As a Canmore creator, it was quite something to see this town transformed. So many hours of work, such a huge budget, I figured it would be featured in half the show haha.
As for the scene at the Leg, the entrance was the only part that was not CGI. You suspected it was the south side entrance they filmed but in fact it was the west as they did it up in vines and such. Great work showing all the locations!
Right! I picked the wrong side… it wasn’t till I got home to Calgary and saw that I picked the wrong angle 🤦🏻♂️ I made a few more mistakes too. It was a fun project, and I hope people enjoy it! Thank you 🙏🏼
absolutely incredible what the Production team on the show was able to achieve by making these locations look overgrown and desolate. a lot of care and detail went into this show and the 10 million budget per episode really shows on screen. can't wait for season 2!

Great video! I can tell you had a lot of fun. Several years ago I took my nephews to all The Walking Dead shooting locations in and around Atlanta. Atlanta is definitely the Hollywood of the southern USA, so many scenes are filmed on sound stages. There’s also a neighborhood built especially for the Alexandria location in TWD. They were in the middle of filming when we visited so access was impossible. I can tell you’re super proud of your home province. It is indeed beautiful.
Cool movie, man! Love how creators are... creative! Also Canada looks awesome, nice to know they will shoot second season in even more beautiful place of Vancouver! Hope someday I will be able to visit!
Wow! It is so awesome to see your video. We were eating lunch at Evelyn’s as you were filming, and we were excited to see what the end result was. Great job! Loved the video.
My music teacher was one of the location directors for the film, he was telling me a story about how one day they shipped in truckloads of snow only for it to snow the next day. There are plenty more things he told me about and more shots that did not get into the show, great video!
Really appreciate the hard work and soul you've put into this. I was searching for the articles on exactly this type of information, so your map is absolutely brilliant. As a huge TLOU fan, I'd like to visit all the shooting spots, so thank you !
I live in High River and the scene in episode 1 where they drive past the burning house was on my commute to work. They built this house on top of a scaffolding deck, just the shell and covered it with siding. One day is was new, the next day it looked like it had been lit up with gas. It was nice to see the show finally to watch it all play out from one day to the next. Great video Davey, thanks
@Davey Gravy bc traveling or living around places where a show/movie are shot and filmed doesn't mean a studio should hire you. If so, WB or CW should've hired myself or hundreds of other people from being around Supernatural locations. Not taking anything away from you, its definitely a good video. But doesn't incline you to get a job.

And how cut back and forth multiple times from a shot from the show to a real shot, to show how they similar and recognizable, but VFX altered for the show. My comment came from how the location of the hospital scenes came across in the video, as you only mentioned the GPRH. The QE II is is still in use as a medical facility though (just no longer a hospital), so your comment about not being allowed to wander around the location with a camera and filming still stands.
This is amazing! I can imagine exactly how much work went into producing this video, and can tell you for certain that it'll be a long-term hit. Keep it up!
What a fabulous undertaking. Congrats on all the driving/hiking/sneaking around you did in order to bring us the filming locations. 14:00 I don't believe that the scene in Grande Prairie was filmed at the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. Rather, I believe this was done at the QE2 hospital, which it replaced recently. Specifically, I operate a tri drive tank truck and was called out by AHS to the QE2 for a clean up. For a large vehicle like mine, you can only access the facility from the west side. You then have to immediately choose left or right and I (mistakenly) went right. Within 50m there were several rental crew trailers and I was stopped by some non-local security. I used to be a paid extra in films once upon a time (including Mystery Alaska filmed in Canmore) and knew that I had driven onto a film set of some description. The part I do remember well was the security not allowing me space to turn around and having to back up the whole way to the helicopter pad to turn around. Bit of a narrow twisty back up but it wasn't my first rodeo so I got it done without a fuss. If you are looking to fact check any of this, I do know of some drone camera shots that were taken near downtown on those days and believe they show the film crews at the old QE2 hospital.
Yeaaaah, this video is a pearl. I haven't watched the LoU series and I don't have any intention to, but just watching your great piece of work here made me connect, wanting to watch more and more of your content.
Thanks for this! As someone who grew up in Calgary, I had so much fun pointing out locations while I was watching the show and I was hoping to see more about the filming locations.

I happened to go to Canmore when the second episode dropped, and I absolutely made sure to go to the engine bridge :) it's just so cool actually being able to go to a spot that your fave story was made
Great video. I live in High River where a lot of the first episode and Bill and Frank's episode were filmed. I watched some of the filming going on and the amazing work they did transforming the area (then cleaning up as if it was never there).
@@davey_gravy Yeah it's tricky since the homes were demolished and they put a berm up so the roads are pretty much wiped away as well. There's a video on UA-cam about the creepiest neighborhood where a videographer went through it after the flood. If you look on streetview the houses are still there (I think it was done in 2015). My friends own Evelyn's Diner so there's a lot of people coming in just for that. Great stuff! Too bad Season 2 is going to be filmed in Vancouver. Oh well.
Fantastic video! There is one location I keep seeing missed. In episode 1 where the police car crashes into Joel and Tommy’s truck and Joel/Sarah and Tommy get separated is filmed in front of Pandoras boox in my hometown, Olds! They also borrowed the hockey arena to do some blue screen stuff with the driving scenes for episode 1!
Really cool video. One of the things I loved most about watching The Last of Us is recognizing the film locations such as SAIT, the Lethbridge train bridge and Nanton. I'm not surprised Joel was stabbed at Mount Royal though. They have more cannibals and chimps than SAIT.
I started my acting career in my hometown of Calgary 23 years ago and have always known it is world class for locations and the crews out there are second to none. Thank you for this video; Alberta deserves to be recognized for its role in the series and you did that!
Great video Davey!! and I will give you one you missed in episode 9 the parkade seen with Joel and Marlene was the Chinook center parkade. keep the awesome videos coming dude!
It’s true… I did. I actually missed a lot. I figured it was not worth visiting the parkade because it looks very generic, and I would be able to find the right angle. I appreciate you watching!

If you are looking to fact check any of this, I do know of some drone camera shots that were taken near downtown on those days and believe they show the film crews at the old QE2 hospital.
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment
Yeaaaah, this video is a pearl. I haven't watched the LoU series and I don't have any intention to, but just watching your great piece of work here made me connect, wanting to watch more and more of your content.
Thank you for the high praise! Very kind words!
Davey this vid is so great! You put so much work and research into this! 👏🏻
Thank you! I did! This video took me a long time to make, but I hope it’s entertaining
Thanks for this! As someone who grew up in Calgary, I had so much fun pointing out locations while I was watching the show and I was hoping to see more about the filming locations.
Thanks for watching! Hopefully this video was fun to watch
I hope this video blows up! It was very well done
Thank you! Please share with any friends and family, the more people that see it, more better the chance it will show up in the proper hands. Thank you for taking 15 minutes out of your day for me! 🙏🏼
omg this video is SO COOL,, makes me wanna visit Alberta again!! So excited for season two to be filmed near me in Vancouver! then time for another one of these videos hahaha
Hopefully someone in Vancouver makes a video like this!
Okay THIS is awesome! Wow! Fantastic job ❤
Thanks for watching! This was alot of work and am so glad people are seeing it
outstanding video! Love it! And your attention to detail is incredible!
Thank you for watching! Much appreciated
I happened to go to Canmore when the second episode dropped, and I absolutely made sure to go to the engine bridge :) it's just so cool actually being able to go to a spot that your fave story was made
It really is! And such a beautiful location to visit
Great video. I live in High River where a lot of the first episode and Bill and Frank's episode were filmed. I watched some of the filming going on and the amazing work they did transforming the area (then cleaning up as if it was never there).
I actually thought I visited the wrong area, very amazing! Thank you for watching
Oh well.
@@occularmalice Although if it was Beachwood Estates, that's in another direction.
Oh, and Evelyn's is so fun.
Dudeee this was incredible! Much respect from the Netherlands!
Thank you! I’m in Amsterdam right now 👀
@@davey_gravy Enjoy!
Hey Davey, first time watching your videos and absolutely loved it. Awesome work! The legislature is just minutes down the road.
Thanks for taking the time to watch ♥️ it’s quite the commitment! I appreciate the kind words. Edmonton is a beautiful city!
Great video! You made the exact video I was hoping for.
No way! I’m so glad I was able to make it for you
I watched tlou with a bunch of friends who i grew up with in Calgary. We got so excited whenever we saw an area we thought we recognized 😂
It was so cool to see Calgary in the show!
Love ur effort and the outcome and the little hints u give. Very beautiful video!
Thank you! I really appreciate it and hope you learned something
Thank you! I did miss that. As well as visiting Lethbridge, and inside many buildings
Wow what a great video you did Davey! Lot of work in this video and it's very interesting! I watched the entire 15 minutes of it! Thanks you!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this 🙏🏼 I really do appreciate it, and the kind comment
So good Davey, you killed this!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch Jordo! It’s a long one
Really cool video. One of the things I loved most about watching The Last of Us is recognizing the film locations such as SAIT, the Lethbridge train bridge and Nanton. I'm not surprised Joel was stabbed at Mount Royal though. They have more cannibals and chimps than SAIT.
Haha!!
Watched the first half as to not see any spoilers! Great vid Davey.
I’ll come finish it when I finish season 1
I love that! Hurry up and finish the show. actually, take it slow, its amazing to watch
I was in Canmore while they were filming the last of us
Thats awesome!
I live in Edmonton and we were all hyped when we found out the hit film was filmed right here in our home
It was so awesome for our province!
What a nice video. Such a high quality. Keep it up man
Appreciate it! Thank you
Outstanding ! Great work on this project and thanks for making this video
I knew someone had to make the video, so I took on the challenge!
the effort in this single video is amazing @_@
It took me forever to make, I'm glad you noticed!
My brother found most of these locations; love that you're giving some attention to the work he did :)
Was your brother a location scout for the show?
@@davey_gravy Yup. Made me super proud to see his name in the credits at the end of every episode.
I started my acting career in my hometown of Calgary 23 years ago and have always known it is world class for locations and the crews out there are second to none.
Thank you for this video; Alberta deserves to be recognized for its role in the series and you did that!
Alberta really does need some more recognition, hopefully this is the start of many shows made in Alberta
Awesome video , I haven't seen Alberta but it's for sure a great place to visit , thank you for showing all those beautiful places .
@@sthecommenter76 thanks for taking a couple minutes to watch the video, I really appreciate it!
Complete Banger. This was so good bro
Thank you for watching! It took forever to make... and only 15 minutes to watch
This is an amazing video. Deserves much more attention. Thank you for your dedication to making high quality videos.
Thank you for watching! Feel free to share with a friend!
Fantastic video!!! Thanks for everything, man!
I really appreciate you watching, it means so much!
k we Edmonton do not Call the legislator building the leg
im just saying
also they filmed a scene in downtown Edmonton called oeb(i think)
You call it the Leg?
This is amazing, nice work Davey! So cool to see all these spots in real life, so much snow to navigate! Haha!
The snow was such a challenge! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment ♥️
So glad someone took the time to make this!
Someone had to do it! So I accepted the challenge
That was amazing!!! So much work put into this video 🙌
Thank you! It did take me about 8 weeks to make this one video
This video's amazing!! Hope to see a filming locations video for Season 2 when it comes out! I think it's in Vancouver next
It’s such a threat show! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!!!
There's a few locations you missed but you did good haha
I did miss so in the video, I was under a time and financial crunch, but all the locations are on the map in the description. Thanks for watching!
What a great video! Thank you for showcasing our beautiful province 🙂
Thank you for taking the time to watch! Alberta is so amazing and it's easy to share how great our province is.
