I really appreciate what Tmobile and Verizon are doing in the internet space with fixed wireless access. They are giving people more choice in internet, especially those in more rural areas or those that may only have cable as a provider. Competition is good for all of us. Thank you for your content.

I have T-Mobile home internet and the set up was simple. Ordered it in the app. Received router about a week later. Plugged it in. Set the ssid to the same as the Xfinity that it replaced and all my devices connected. Didn’t have to do anything you said in this video.

Have had T-Mobile internet for the past year. They have never throttled me and I use around 2TB a month in data. One thing to understand is that home internet is already deprioritized and if your cell tower is congested you will see your speeds drop. For me this typically happens during rush hour and in the evenings. Even during those busier times, I can still perform all my work activities and watch movies/TV.
One major issue I have with it is that it doesn’t seem to play nice with gaming, I always have bad latency and some games just won’t work at all for online play.
You can also do T-Mobile Tuesdays with just home internet. The text signup just goes to the gateway which isn’t hard to pull.

I’ve had T-Mobile home internet since December. It’s much more seamless signing up as a T-Mobile customer, no need to text any info. I was able to add it to my plan, order the gateway, and track my package all on the T-Mobile app. The speeds have been much better than Verizon & Cox…. It’s the first Wi-Fi I’ve had where I can stream 4K video without buffering. I’m definitely happy with the service so far. The “customers using >50gb” message is shown for everyone but they don’t throttle. I think they keep it there for liability just in case, but even before I had the home internet, it showed the same message for my plans on magenta max (that has unlimited un-throttled data).

With Viasat we pay $89.89 a month. $70 for service, $10 for equipment lease, $8.99 for EasyCare and "Total Other Services". And after different sales taxes it comes to $89.89. We pay for 12 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up. We usually get 17.1 Mbps down and under 5 Mbps up. Our 40 GBs of data usually vanishes between 8 to 10 days. We do not know where the data disappears to. I guess that’s what you get for the cheapest package. We’ve used 92.9 GBs and data resets on the 28th of each month.

Best customer support is no customer support.
I ordered my FTTH service on-line and only the technicians called me on the day of the install, to check if I'm home.
Had to sign some contracts, whatever, but didn't have to contact them for 2 years, until my neighbor "accidentally" cut my fiber line and I had to call them to replace it. 😎👍
How much does it cost? First it was 8USD 300/150 connection, then I kept upgrading to 500/250 and 1000/500 whenever they had a "6 months 50% off" offer. Now it costs 10USD (full price) and they upgraded my upload to Gigabit.

When I first moved to my house in 2011, we had to get Time Warner Cable, cause it was either that or Windstream. We loved our service from them until Charter bought them and turned it into Spectrum. They raised the price, started charges us random fees, and the service got worse. In 2021 we switched to a new local fiber optic company in our area. We paid the same price, but there is no taxes or router leasing fee. We got 30mbps on average for download with Spectrum, now we get 500mbps.

I will say, while you can technically take your router on the go and it will probably work, this is a violation of the terms of service. T-Mobile only approves home internet in certain areas based in network congestion levels. They don’t want home users interfering with phone users. You may be able to get away with it, but T-Mobile can terminate your service if they think it’s a problem.

I ordered the 5G Home Internet two weeks ago and tested it out at home. It worked right out of the box. Setup was easy and I had zero issues. But I ordered to test it out for a family member who lives 2.5 hours away, on a dirt road just outside city limits in a much smaller city. I tested it for just over a week and delivered it on Memorial Day. T-Mobile recommends putting it near a window but I couldn't get 4 or 5 bars consistently near any windows. I have an Anker portable power station that I used to power the 5G modem/router and move around the house. I was about the give up but I found that a shelf in the middle of the house worked perfectly! 4-5 bars consistently with well over 150Mbps downloads vs ~25Mbps near the windows.
If you're not getting great speeds or signal, move around the house! No complaints so far. T-Mobile Home Internet is pretty darn good. But this is also just my experience.

If the devices were connected directly to the T-Mobile gateway, everything worked fine, but when connected to the mesh system it gave me all sorts of trouble. After a lot of messing around, I discovered that you have to enable IP V6 in your routers settings and You have to put it in Passthrough mode. Once I did this, I had to reconnect some of my devices to the Wi-Fi but ultimately that was the fix for all of the problems I was having with streaming services not working, especially Netflix. Hope this helps someone.

Short of building a small outside plastic shell in my front yard for this thing, I just could not get better performance than the Cox Cable Internet I already have. My signup process was no where near as sleezy, I did have to call, but they didn't try to upsell me on anything. I am getting really good speeds, above 500Mbps down and sometimes 75Mbps up (usually 50 up). Especially in the evenings, mid day, it's dipped to similar speeds you have here. So far I have pumped over a TB through it (in 10 days) and haven't noticed much if any difference in speeds. So far, I highly recommend.... UNLESS, you're a gamer. And by gamer, I mean fighting game fan. This service is good enough for some Paladins, MOBAs, MMOs, but it's ping is just too much for a fighting game to play respectably. Maybe one day they will get that sorted out, 5G is suppose to offer connections with sub 1ms ping, totally not seeing that yet.

They have the hardware in most store, and it takes maybe 5 mins to get through the purchase, not to be confused with waiting on a rep, and you can skip all the annoyances that was talked about in the video.

I’m currently using a cable internet for 10 Mbps upload and 50 Mbps down for $65 per month. And I been checking the T-Mobile home isp for the last 2 years now and finally it’s available in my area.
The cable internet is capped at 1.25 TB per month. Couple of months, we’d be pretty close to the limit.

Drew, you probably need to log into the T-Mobile home internet app and see what 5G band your modem is locking onto. T-Mobile's ultra capacity band is NR41 (2.5Ghz) and their regular 5G is NR71 (600Mhz). When I had T-Mobile internet, the modem kept falling back to NR71, which has better range but way less capacity, so my speeds would drop from 300-400Mbps down with 20-25Mbps upload down to 30-80Mbps download by 7-13Mbps upload. I would have to reboot the modem to get it off NR71 and back on NR41. If it is falling back to NR71 a lot, you may need to find a better spot in your house that gets better signal on NR41.

Just wanted to touch on the whole "Mobile Situation" the Home Internet modem has a GPS in it, if the GPS sees you are in a area that has open towers that can service the home internet modem than you can connect to it, However if you are in a area where lets say a tower is already at capacity then the home internet modem will not allow you to connect to it.

The 50gb message is a generic message they put in everything. The home internet is the lowest of the QCI value on the network, its behind literally everything, even prepaid. We use 3TB roughly monthly (tons of 4K streaming and doing WFH stuff) and its been fine. The home internet is and will always be behind everything on the network. It’s never prioritized, ever. Depending on what band you connect to (N41 is really really fast usually, and N71 is slower, but goes much much further).

A bit envious of everyone here who has a good experience with tmobile. Like im glad it works for yall, but man was my tmobile experience utter garbage.
I live in a semi dead zone so all carriers have poor signal strength already getting to my house but tmobile would completely cut out. Tried to use their signal boosters and what not to get better service, nothing worked.
Finally decided to change carriers but had such a hard time trying to return products and cut the service, sounded a lot like drews experience trying to *get* their service, but trying to leave.

I’m sorry about that. I am a T-Mobile worker and looking at reviews for my customers about other people interactions. But if anyone have the same issue. Ask the store rep or the online rep what is the number associated with the device. Each device have a SIM card which allows the device connect to the 5G towers. Get the number go online. Create an T-Mobile ID on the website. This will have access to your account information and billing. And will give you information about your shipping details. The shipping details will also be included in your email. The email will give you a order number which you will use on the order details on the T-Mobile website. It’s confusing I know I’m sorry I wish they made it easier on the consumer. Plus adding onto the waiving the activation fees comment. Usually starting a new line like a phone line or a watch line or tablet ETC. There is a 30 one time activation fee same as a one time upgrade charge. Right now the home internet is free out the door no activation fee. So the rep was probably got permission to waive it. I’m sorry about that. But I am glad to see everyone is enjoying the home internet plus you got the newest Home internet device.

I seen people been with T-Mobile over 20 years having some Sc unl ++ North America plan and there plan stayed the exact same. So they won’t bring it up on you. Unless you decided to cancel and go with another ISP and come back to T-Mobile for some reason they changed it where it is 60 rather than 55. 50 with autopay of course. Then you will be charged the 60 dollars.
