2) self flagellation is not done to purify our body or our sins, it is done in the process of mourning and to feel the pain of grand son of prophet (hussain)

Shia and sunni are two branches of Islam just like protestants and Catholics are two branches of Christianity. Fact is a real Muslim never discriminate between them as anyone who believe in Allah and consider prohet Muhammad as his last prophet is a true Muslim period

to know more about shia, I highly recommend you to read the book Al Shia wa Sunnah by Alama Ehsan Ilahi Zaheer. Unfortunately, I couldn't find this book other than urdu language. So, if you are able to read urdu, please do read it.
