    The "Brautentführung" (kidnapping of the bride) does not happen before the wedding but during the celebrations.
    This tradition originates from times where most people worked on farms and had to take care of the cattle in the late afternoon. Therefore, the celebrations were paused for some time until everybody was back. This pause was disguised as kidnappig of the bride.

      No problem... We are ready to host them in Hesse, with the best types of cider on the whole damn continent. In fact, the Chatti (the Germanic Hessians) didn't took a part in the migrations of the people, at the end of the Roman rule, because of the great conditions, to grow apples at home...

    7:25 There was a big kerfuffle because of the energy crisis (even though it was about missing natural gas for heating in winter, so more electricity was not the answer) and they extended the deadline into mid-April 2023 when the last three NPPs were indeed shut off.

    And for the (long) compound words: German works like LEGO. You take existing words and stick them together. Least specific word is on the right, and the more left you go, the more specific is the compound. An example in english: dogcatcher. it's a "catcher" (least specific) for "dogs" (more specific). This makes German (and other nordic languages) very flexible in creating new words "on spot", which are usually understandable by someone who never heard this word before.

      To add on this:
      The word with "Donaudampfschiffahrt..." is a joke and not in use. A word with this is constructed to make an incredibly long word. Theoretically you could make up a grammatical correct word, which fits alone on a page of a book.

    #77 is actually a misunderstanding. The actual campaign name is "Meet a Jew". Some journalist mistranslated fell to the false friend "meet" vs "mieten", and translated this as "Miete einen Juden", which means "Rent a Jew".

    1:45 curves on the Autonbahn are usually rather gentle. Driving through them at 200 km/h is not much of a problem when the weather is fine and the traffic density low. (Different story when there is lots of traffic or it is raining, of course)
    Now when the curves are a little narrower, there is of course going to be a speed limit of 130 or maybe less, depending on the curve radius. But again, that's not the norm. Autobahns are planned according to certain standards, which include avoiding too steep ascents or too small curve radii if at all possible.

    17:23 The video is from 2020 but that fact was already outdated by four years. After GEMA lost in court against UA-cam, they reached an agreement in 2016. The reason is obviously not unknown, it's a frankly insane rule held up in courts that GEMA can demand you pay for any public performance of a song because most musicians are members in the GEMA, so *you* have to send a list to the GEMA every time, telling them what you played (even if it's in the public domain). It's an unwritten rule not covered by law which is now being challenged by the founding of a competitor called C3S. GEMA demanded that UA-cam pay up and UA-cam was having none of that and opted to simply geo-block those videos in Germany until 2016 instead.

    All nuclear plants are closed now. We run on renewables (more and more) and fossil plants (less and less). Currently we use 56% renewables. Just google it, it's a fact. This video is somewhat old and not up-to-date. We aim to reach 80% renewables in 2030. Currently there're periods/days, where we run 100% on renewables for a few hours, because of plenty sun and wind. And yes, not some 3rd world country, but an industrial leader. It's possible!

    The radioactive wild boar stems from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986 which spread a cloud of radioactive material around western Europe. The material included radioactive Cesium-137 with a half life of around 30 years that rained to the ground, and as wild boar eat from the ground, they incorporated some into their bodies. I remember that checks were introduced quickly and some hunted boar wasn't allowed to be sold for human consumption, but by now (2024) enough of the Cesium should be decayed to not be a danger anymore.

    • @andreasfischer9158
      @andreasfischer9158 3 місяці тому

      It doesn’t in Sweden. There are still samples with around 40 kBq/kg, which is not considered safe to eat. I guess the initial levels were lower in Germany.

    • @eisikater1584
      @eisikater1584 3 місяці тому

      @@andreasfischer9158 Couldn't find the original values from 1986/87, but for 2020-23, they still found wild boar with 1,200 Bq/kg. 40,000 for Sweden, that's quite a number! But I remember that Sweden was hit first (and reported it first before the Russians reluctantly admitted there had been an accident), so of course Sweden got the full load of radioactive dust, mostly Cesium. Horrible, so many years later! And I was wrong in my assumption that much of it had decayed: Germany, as I now learned, still keeps on testing because 600 Bq/kg is the limit for what can legally be sold. I would assume, however, that hunters and their friends and families eat what they hunted without testing.

    • @andreasfischer9158
      @andreasfischer9158 3 місяці тому

      @eisikater1584 Yes, the alarm at the Forsmark nuclear power plant went off, at first, they thought it was a leakage from their systems. Some places in Sweden had an initial activity of 1 million Bq per square meter due to the downfall. 80 % of that was iodine which decayed quickly. But the cesium is still present in the soil and concentrated by funghi.

    Stealing bread is of course theft in Germany, but there is also a clause that if someone is stealing food (essentials) to not die it is not punishable.
    Also the police often does not arrest people for example when they are cought stealing, even if its not just food. I have seen that more than once. One time a homeless man was stealing vodka, the shop manager called the police and was pretty upset, the police came and they knew the homeless guy and just told him in a friendly manner he should go and get some help instead of bothering other people.
    The thing is, one should ask why to arrest people in such a situation and when they are not dangerous and just want to survive? A person in prison costs the tax payer so much more money than just feeding them and leave them alone. Even a shelter for homeless is much cheaper than a jail, and on top of that punishing people that are already suffering is just cruel and absolutely pointless.

    If you two ever come to Germany, there is a good chance that you will end up in Frankfurt am Main airport. And you will have arrived at the place, the center of German apple wine, or cider. I don't want to make any claims based on ignorance, but the climate for apples is considerably better in Germany than in Sweden and Ireland. In fact, there are lots of people who have their own apple wine from their own orchard in their cellar. In Germany, there are dozens of apple varieties that were specially bred for pressing and are barely edible as apples. We know exactly what we are doing since the Romans brought apples to Germany 2,000 years ago...

    GEMA is about protecting artist‘s rights to their work. If you play someone‘s song, f.e., without paying a fraction to the artist creating the song, you are essentially a thief (very much like plagiarism or copyright laws)…

    • @MaxSujyGermany
      @MaxSujyGermany  5 місяців тому +2

      There is a substantial difference between what it's intended for VS used for. Copyright laws, GEMA, etc, make 0 distinction in what the work is use for. They abuse copyright laws all the time. I fought 4 copyright strike battle in 6 years and won all of them. If only you knew what's going on behind the scenes. These companies are abusing their power non-stop. You may be making a distinction between playing full song non-stop VS showing 10 seconds, but these companies do not.

    that Clark Greg part makes no sense, you can't name your child a last name as a first name, but Clark Greg are two first names, and being called something like Frank Peter is a fairly common thing. Last names that are also first names are for example Otto, Frank, Albrecht, Heinrich, Walter
