States were to stay out of religion but without God in our politics you get the corruption we see now. When people realize they can vote for leaders who'll give out goodies for votes, only people who reguard a higher power vote morally and to better their whole country not just themselves.
I don’t need churches, instead I simply do the next right thing. After seeing churches interfering in politics and dividing our country I pray directly too GOD🙏
The separation of Church and State... Essential in the balance of right and wrong for Christians in the US. There is a difference between supporting conservative idiology and courting evil as a means to a political end...
I mean, yeah. Never met a Southern Baptist that wasn't a Republican and conservative. Knew liberal religious people, but a liberal Southern Baptist was a modern-day cryptid.
Why would Baptists get involved with politics when Jesus said that his government was no part of this world? (John 18:36) And he taught his followers what government to pray for in the Lord's Prayer. (Matt. 6:9,10) Strange.
@Hayle Seyton real religion is your own relationship with God. What we're facing are philosophical conglomerates who, as you say, "tow the party line". The moral majority were a political crowd for politicians who've been using their "church flocks", abusing them, exploiting them helped by preachers in PULPITS exploiting their flocks too! Yeshua would not be welcomed. They would all glare at that skin like burnt bronze and hair like wool. Yeshua was a socialist. Look at all the things he said and did for the poor, sick and disenfranchised/ outcast. His way of life would not be tolerated in today's Christian society. He actually walk the walk and talked the talk. He knew he was doomed from the day he was earthly born. He certainly didn't want to die but he knew he had a job to do. No way would he tolerate racism and a lot of other things in today's society.
This is all very well said. As a catholic guy I have no idea what is happening with a huge segment of Christians. Baptists and like Christians should fight back at excessive secularism in America. We do not want to be like many of the European nations who take pride in disavowing their Christian heritage and have declining populations. As a catholic guy. I rely on you guys to give them “heck”! You guys are really good at it. I’m proud of you. American character and culture has been shaped and cultivated by your American Baptist spirit and song. I meekly say you guys keep us Catholics in check and doing right!
Church and State must remain separate, except in the case of the FBI. We need them to keep tabs on the Southern Baptist Church and other Right-Wing Evangelicals.
I’ll look at it like this the times are changing I like this guy just said the older Southern Baptist church members are stuck in them always the younger ones are not stuck in them bad bad ways things are really changing fast and I just hope for the better
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 1 John 2:19 AKJV
They also don't want race inclusion.. obviously if almost 100% of their congregation and leaders are white.. just like the Mormon.. Presbyterian.. Lutheran.. Methodist..etc...the racism and thirst for power run deep!
These are two separate issues. Yes the church (all denominations) in my opinion in the past has miss the mark quite a bit. No denial there especially decades ago. If they want to have an actual conversation on racial inclusion then good. Crt is not that

So many churches and denominations have parted from sound Christian doctrine that I'm not sure why they have Bibles. It's become "whatever we want to do" religion.
“Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”It’s like a poll tax for voting. Praying and voting should not cost you. Before the creation of social programs, up until about the late 1800s and 1900s, alms were all but guaranteed from the church. Early to mid 1800s people actually began to openly and overtly proselytize. Churches did their part, collected money, and spent it on the poor. Economic recession in 1880s changed that, as did large numbers of poor living in the streets, in terrible conditions. The unsightly and often offensive situation was enough to start a trend of looking down on the poor instead of giving alms. Add that classism, racism, and abject poverty together, you have the modern ‘ hate on the poor, and give your money to Jesus ‘ movement. Sad. But we still can’t tax them. You would think there’s enough money and resources in churches in Texas alone to solve this nation’s homeless and refugee issues..... which begs the question, what would Jesus do?
Thankful for Great Commission Convention and how JD Greer served them during these times to stick to the Gospel of Jesus. As he said, “When the Church marries government, the baby will never look like Jesus”. Dr Tony Evans preached Sunday at the SBC convention a powerful msg of there’s no black Christian or White Christian. There are only Christians as its identity is in Jesus alone and not age, gender, status, or nationality but being born again.

I was raised a Southern Baptist in Georgia, but I left the church a loooong time ago. Why?? Because I realized that the church (all denominations, not just the SBC) was not just preaching their politics from their pulpits, but also teaching hate, judgementalism and rejection of our fellow brothers and sisters who were gay, didn't believe as we do, Islamic, you name it. The God I believe in encourages love and inclusion for all of us, no matter what. Jesus never said a word against homosexuality, for example. All references to the condemnation of homosexuality is, for the most part, contained in the verses of the book of Leviticus, which is Old Testament and represents old Jewish laws. The last I checked, the Christian faiths follow the words of Christ and not old Jewish laws.
Still, we must ask ourselves, why did Miss Darrow experience such a conversion, even an incomplete one? What strikes us im- mediately is the Communists' manipulation of her conflicts over honesty and goodness, and over incomplete "Chineseness." These are once again problems of identity and guilt; and Miss Darrow's background encompasses many such problems in relationship to religion, ideology, and cultural conflict, and to historical, racial, and personal sensitivities. Miss Darrow's early and tenacious identity of the missionary's daughter included a near-absolute approach to good and evil, to guilt and sin. Her parents, and especially her mother, as individual carriers of the Protestant tradition sought to make their daughter "iron-clad," a bastion of honesty and goodness impregnable to the dishonesty and evil ever threatening from both without and within herself. In her rebellion against her origin, Miss Darrow struggled to find a more moderate course-a compromise identity which would neither violate the "ideal of being good" of her missionary back- ground nor perpetuate the narrowness which she came to see in it. But from the beginning, her struggle was accompanied by many disruptive forces which shaped a negative identity of unusually large dimensions. On both a personal and an ideological level, her parents' inordinate stress upon "iron-clad honesty" produced in Miss Darrow-as it inevitably does-an attraction to honesty's opposite, to beating the game through the hidden maneuver, or the "use of the lie." This attraction had limited importance as a mode of action, for Miss Darrow could bring to bear upon it the powerful conscience of the missionary's daughter: but for this at- traction she was forced to pay a terrible price in guilt. At the same time, the tyrannical judgments of her conscience ("negative con- science," as Erikson has called it) *could at any moment so magnify this pattern of guilt and self-condemnation that she would see her- self as nothing but a "selfish person," a "cheat" and a "liar." These personal sensitivities were fed by her historical situation, about which she was also guilt-prone: a privileged Westerner, who owed her position to imperialistic policies of questionable moral standing, living among poverty-stricken Chinese peasants and ar- ticulately resentful Chinese intellectuals. Closely related to this historical guilt was her racial guilt, a sense of evil which the more egalitarian representatives of any dominant race experience in relationship to any ambivalent feelings they may hold toward members of the dominated race. The stronger one's libertarian con- science, the greater the guilt. Miss Darrow could believe herself evil and insincere because she perceived her own sense of repulsion (itself partly a product of guilt) at the idea of becoming a Chinese and having to share personally the disadvantages of an oppressed race. The problem is insoluble as long as situations of racial discrimination or dominance persist, since guilt begets resentment, which in turn begets guilt; both emotions then cause suffering, as they did in Miss Darrow, in direct proportion to the amount of love felt for certain members (if not for the more abstract whole) of the dominated race. And everything is magnified when the problem occurs in the oppressed race's native environment. ia902504.us.archive.org/8/items/ThoughtReformAndThePsychologyOfTotalism/Thought_Reform_and_the_Psychology_of_Totalism.pdf

John Quincy Adams 6th U.S. President "The hope of a Christian is inseparable from his faith. Whoever believes in the divine inspiration of the Holy Scriptures must hope that the religion of Jesus shall prevail throughout the earth. Never since the foundation of the world have the prospects of mankind been more encouraging to that hope than they appear to be at the present time. And may the associated distribution of the Bible proceed and prosper till the Lord shall have made 'bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God' (Isaiah 52:10)." --Life of John Quincy Adams, p. 248.

Reading the books of the New Testament, we probably asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years? The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. In this world, the great fertility of atheism can be explained by the fact that there is no main opponent of critics of the Bible - the Church. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist. Find *"The Mystery about the Church of Christ"* video on UA-cam, which shows the real causes of Christian sects and atheism. The video reveals a prophecy about the disappearance and reappearance of the Church of Christ before the end of the world. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever..." --Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, p. 237. "I am a real Christian - that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ." --The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, p. 385.
Southern Baptist is pretty bottom of the barrel. There are so many good protestant denominations to chose from. Find a good Congregational, Methodist or Presbyterian church to join. Thy offer solid guidance and are not so political. The SBC needs to get it's stuff together.

Nothing will happen to the Southern Baptist Convention - just as nothing ever happened to the Roman Catholics. Christianity in general is on the decline. When I was a teen, everyone I knew went to church every Sunday. Now ...
Ugh. 😩 If Jesus was living he would denounce the Southern Baptist. Nothing but a bunch of hypocritical double standard individuals. They are a major reason people are turning away from going to church. "Accordingly, we assume that the three patriarchs of Israel---Abraham, his son Isaac, and his grandson Jacob---were monotheists, that they believed in only one God. This does not seem to have been the case. Indeed, it is probably more accurate to call these early Hebrews pagans who shared many of the religious beliefs of their neighbors in Canaan. They would certainly have believed in the existence of such deities as Marduk, Baal, and Anat. They may not all have worshipped the same deity: it is possible that the God of Abraham, the "Fear" or "Kinsman" of Isaac and the "Mighty One" of Jacob were three separate gods. We can go further. It is highly likely that Abraham's God was El, the High God of Canaan. The deity introduces himself to Abraham as El Shaddai (El of the mountain), which is one of El's traditional titles. Elsewhere he is called El Elyon (The Most High God) or El of Bethel. The name of the Canaanite High God is preserved in such Hebrew names as Isra-El or Ishma-El." -An excerpt from "A History of God" by Karen Armstrong. The truth is that the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity) all emerged from pagan polytheism.
well look at that as providence would have it I am studying the names of God for my church. Having more than one name for something or especially someone does not mean there are more than one. You have more than one name. You have probably dozens, including nicknames. Are you more than one? God's a bit more complex than you. It's basic, but if you refuse to believe that you'll seek out something else more "complex" in order to justify your unbelief in YHWH. I'm going to go with God's word, that's the bible, on this one, and not Ms. Armstrong, who was not there, did not create anything, and will be a mere vapor on the scene of history. The better thing to do is to go to God in the flesh, Jesus from Nazareth and turn from your sin. He will wash you and give you new life through faith in his name. He will you show. Not Armstrong. Or you can die in you unbelief. two options
@@Richardcontramundum "A History of God" isn't talking about me having nicknames. The book talks about facts and scientific evidence that proves that all of the tribes in and around Mesopotamia and Canaan were polytheistic before monotheism was invented. Archaeology and linguistics have already proven that the Israelites were pagans who worshipped multiple gods before monotheism even existed. Archaeology and fossil records have already debunked the lies and fairytale creatures in the Bible. I am not afraid of death and I will not bow to your imaginary friend "God." Unlike the Christians I have read more than one book. I was raised as a Protestant from birth and it took me years of studying science to shake off the anti-science fanaticism of Christianity. There are plenty of artifacts and ancient settlements in the Middle East that definitively prove that Abrahamic monotheism came from older polytheistic societies. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all came from polytheistic paganism. Every person has intrinsic worth and I do not need fairytales to give me existential meaning and morality. Religion is losing ground every year while science is winning.
@@Richardcontramundum You are the one drinking the anti-science koolaid. Won't the truth set you free? Isn't the truth righteous? Why are you afraid of things like fossil records and archaeology if the Bible is telling the truth? I was brainwashed growing up by the church and drank the koolaid for far too long. Scientific innovation is what improves people's lives, not easily debunked Bronze Age myths. Why won't you buy a copy of Karen Armstrong's "A History of God" and examine the facts? Doesn't the Bible say that ignorance and deceit are evil? Isn't knowledge good and something to be pursued? Sedimentary rock is an amazing thing, don't you agree?

Simply by remembering we are all his children and should treat each other with love and respect. God is everything thing. How dare we preach what he says while not knowing him. He is everything good and bad. Churches are for sheeple. Get to know God by loving yourself and the one's around you. I don't know why we make this all so complicated.
Christian's are to be a light which shines in the darkness. We are the only faith which believes that our Lord lives within us, therefore we become co-workers with Christ Jesus on this earth. The gospel of Jesus Christ has been compromised by too close alliances with political figures. Evangelist Billy Graham warned of this danger after his association with former President Richard Nixon. Jesus Christ told us that the Father is always working and so was he. But, working at what? To save humanity and to reconcile the world back to the Father. If the Church is not doing that, then she's missing the mark. They are going to have to decide who they are going to serve, God or Man? 🤲🏾✝️
from the first words of this propaganda piece "up for grabs" makes it sound like a coup of sort. It is not presented in the appropriate manner at all - this Jezebel makes it clear in the first 15 seconds how this is going to be presented. If a person continues listening past that point, they do not have ears to hear.
Her generalisms and assumptions only indicate her biases and lack of understanding of the Bible and the Pastors adherence to the Bible and what the Bible teaches.
It's too political. Simple as that. It also is very white. And women don't have much of a roll in SB churches. Pornography is running rampant in most all denonations not just baptist
Samuel Adams Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Father of the American Revolution "And as it is our duty to extend our wishes to the happiness of the great family of man, I conceive that we cannot better express ourselves than by humbly supplicating the Supreme Ruler of the world that the rod of tyrants may be broken to pieces, and the oppressed made free again; that wars may cease in all the earth, and that the confusions that are and have been among nations may be overruled by promoting and speedily bringing on that holy and happy period when the kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ may be everywhere established, and all people everywhere willingly bow to the sceptre of Him who is Prince of Peace." --As Governor of Massachusetts, Proclamation of a Day of Fast, March 20, 1797.
This is a crock. All southern Baptist don't have the same views these people were talking about. You can't take a poll and then say all southern Baptist or any other religion for that matter and say all of us believe that way. Not to mention you can't believe half of what the media is saying and who knows who is really filling out these poll questions.
Yet it's a fact that that most Christians don't even agree on important passages concerning foundational Christian beliefs and principals even though the majority of Christians have earnest intentions when they interpret their verses. Not surprising that the religion of Christianity has the most denominations (flavors) of itself. Sadly the bible is vague concerning some passages and also contradictory. Ironically, Christians believe Orthodox Judaic Jews whom worship their same god are wrong when they proclaim they're correct -SIMPLY BELIEVE AND HAVE FAITH! - AND YOU CAN BELIEVE ANYTHING. CHOOSE YOUR POISON - ISLAM, CHRISTIANITY, JUDAISM. THESE THREE RELIGIOUS VICES ARE ALL, 'A LA CARTE', ONLY CHOOSE ONE. DON'T WORRY, THE SMORGASBOARD OF VARIATIONS WITHIN EACH ONE WILL HOPEFULLY APPEAL TO MOST BIZARRE, BLAND, GENERIC OR REFINED OF SPIRITUAL TASTE PALETTES.

God will get it fixed for you when he judges you. That goes for all of us not just you.
Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?
At the same time, the tyrannical judgments of her conscience ("negative con- science," as Erikson has called it) *could at any moment so magnify this pattern of guilt and self-condemnation that she would see her- self as nothing but a "selfish person," a "cheat" and a "liar."
These personal sensitivities were fed by her historical situation, about which she was also guilt-prone: a privileged Westerner, who owed her position to imperialistic policies of questionable moral standing, living among poverty-stricken Chinese peasants and ar- ticulately resentful Chinese intellectuals.

What now to make of I Corinthians 6:11: "And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God..."1 Corinthians 6:11. This seems to imply also the acceptance of change in lifestyle.

"The hope of a Christian is inseparable from his faith. Whoever believes in the divine inspiration of the Holy Scriptures must hope that the religion of Jesus shall prevail throughout the earth. Never since the foundation of the world have the prospects of mankind been more encouraging to that hope than they appear to be at the present time. And may the associated distribution of the Bible proceed and prosper till the Lord shall have made 'bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God' (Isaiah 52:10)."

Who cares

Thomas Jefferson

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever..."

Correct, Jefferson DID believe in Jesus. But he did not believe in god. Look up “the Jefferson bible.”
Southern Baptist is pretty bottom of the barrel. There are so many good protestant denominations to chose from. Find a good Congregational, Methodist or Presbyterian church to join. Thy offer solid guidance and are not so political. The SBC needs to get it's stuff together.
What about the Lutheran's?
@@arthurgearheard4701 A solid choice. I'm Catholic was really looked down upon by Southern Baptists growing up. I've never encountered that issue with older, established protestant denominations. I never got the holier than thou treatment from a Lutheran.
They are too conservative
Nothing will happen to the Southern Baptist Convention - just as nothing ever happened to the Roman Catholics. Christianity in general is on the decline. When I was a teen, everyone I knew went to church every Sunday. Now ...
That's good news
Ugh. 😩
If Jesus was living he would denounce the Southern Baptist. Nothing but a bunch of hypocritical double standard individuals.
They are a major reason people are turning away from going to church.
People want God and spirituality, but not religion like God as a White old man and Jesus as a blonde and blue eyed man telling people what to do. What you call the gospel or the kingdom.

All the old people that are stuck in church are dying, no young people to carry the torch or take over. Plus southern baptists are very judgemental that's why real sinners are not welcome in Baptist churches.
God's house has been corrupted a long time ago. God says call no man father. Believing in God is not in a church. It's something you believe and do. Simply by remembering we are all his children and should treat each other with love and respect. God is everything thing. How dare we preach what he says while not knowing him. He is everything good and bad. Churches are for sheeple. Get to know God by loving yourself and the one's around you. I don't know why we make this all so complicated.

I use to be proud I passed the Baptist national convention now no no...

Great news to these heathens misleading the general public
