Had the same issue with idle on my 1994 Toyota 4runner. I adjusted the idler valve on the throttle body to let more air mix in to even with the fuel and it ran wayyyyy smoother. Different motor though I'm not too familiar with the 3.4 but it worked wonders on my 3.0 🙂
I laughed when you acted like you were just going to grab some pipe and a muffler and throw something together. Anyone that has watched your videos knows that's not how you do things. You did exactly what I expected, a well laid out and well assembled system.
Nice welding btw I do a lot of MIG welding I also do Tig. You definitely have to "Send it" with mig. Know the manipulation you want to do and move fast. You can't really sit there and see the puddle forming as much as you do with Tig. The eBay exhausts rust fast I recommend painting it with rustoleum BBQ paint just brush it on and the exhaust will last longer
I got this 3.4 in my prado 98, idles at 700 and it's smooth as My mate has injector issues with his 3.4 and he idles at 550, plus a shit load of white smoke when he starts it after a day of sitting, but we're getting to it eventually lol
Love the sound off toyota motor 4Runner, love the sound remeber my dad truck, i want to see, if you install a trd turbo boost on the motor, more pontencial for that motor and for racing.
I bet it’ll clear up after you run a couple tanks of fresh fuel through it. Try some fuel system cleaner like Lucas Oil. I use the stuff that comes in a little clear bottle with a green cap. I use it to keep the fuel system in my old yota clean (since I hardly drive it) and it works great. You can use it diesel fuel systems too.
Pretty sure the 5VZ doesn't have an adjustable idler valve like I've seen mentioned. I'd start with cleaning the throttle body and idle air control valve. Resetting the ECU can definitely cause a low 500-600rpm idle too though. My 04 automatic acts different from my 99 manual when the ECU is reset.
I have the same 2.5" piping kit that I'm going to use to straight pipe my parents 4 runner when they go on vacation. That 4.0L needs to breathe. Are the URD headers good ?
For what its worth, my toyota yaris runs super low idle and rough when the ecu is reset (dead or unhooked battery) Put some miles back on it, 100 or so, its back to running smooth.
Hey this is Rabbie from New York. I have a 1991 Toyota pickup in Guyana and I would greatly appreciate it if you can tell me what parts I would need to change to a 3.4...apart from the engine itself.
Just my 2 cents but in regards to your miss. Both 3.4s I have had would get a bad miss about every 2 years and it would throw a code. A set of plugs and wires always fixed it. If that doesn't help it might be a coil pack. The reason these motors go through plugs and wire so quick is if Im not mistaken they fire twice per 4 strokes since they use one coil pack for 2 cylinders.
The vaccum hose in front of the intake goes to the idle step up valve on the steering pump and them to cold air pipe now you have a large v leak eng lean running
Hey Austin-Dont use POR 15, save your money and get ACE Hardwares Rust Stop-they are $5 a can and works great-theres a guy on youtube that tests it out and compares it to other rust encapsulators-he also mentions if POR 15 is used that a topcoat has to be done
Can anyone help me with my 3vze, fuel consumption is way to high (I aware that 3vze don't get good gas mileage but since 1-2months, consumption doubled). Any advice please !
@@waywardfrank2604 Thanks for the reply, I recently removed my intake to adjust my valves clearances... Not so stoked to remove again but I was anticipating the shot
On the 3.4 you need to check conectors to the air mass sensor and throttle sensor if the wires are hardened ad the connector ends you need to cut and reattach to terminals sometimes they look good but partially broken inside insulation if it look hardened rewired worked for toy ovet 25 years now eng very well
I love how you work on Toyota pickups compared to everyone else on UA-cam building heavily modified garage babies
That's me on my channel too Bro!!

Nice job. Glad to see someone actually building an exhaust instead of buying a full exhaust.

Everyday I check if you have posted something new, I love your work, keep up buddy 😎
Thanks man!!
Fabrication skills unmatched keep it up man
It sounds good. After you drive it some the ECU will be able to complete its cycle and hopefully straighten it self out.
I got a Flow Fx for my 3rd gen 4Runner a couple months ago and it sounds great. The white truck sounds down right nasty strait piped. Great job !
Just replaced the u-joints and carrier bearing on the Taco and removed the old exhaust from the ‘92.
Ready for ya to put the new one in!! 😁
Great job on your exhaust
I just went with the preformed exhaust
Looks good. When you put the bed back on you may want to add a short tip so he comes out to the sheet metal. Keep up the good work.
Great idea!
After yelling at my car projects for half a day I come in and watch Austin and it calms me right down. Like a desert oasis.
Weird! Yelling usually works 😂 Have you tried kicking your car?!
@@austinniemela I like it enough not to kick it hehe. Keep up the good work Austin!
good sound! wait to see more, good job.
Nice, clean work for the custom exhaust
Good vid! Try cleaning the inside of the IAC ports in the throttle body. 👍
Sounds amazing man!!! Ima do this after Xmas!!
I was hoping you'd paint the frame! My 3.0 idles too low after I climb my hill or just let off the gas, sometimes it dies.
Check the idle air control valve they can do some funky stuff

Coming along nicely
My fav channel atm been watching all the vids back to back and you sir are very informative keep up the good work 👌🏼
Thanks man!!!
Top work as always ! Can’t wait to see the raptor liner on the whole truck and bar work 🤘🏼🔥

You should put a diy ifs blazeland LT kit on it. Good job man.
I got that same note on my vzn130 too man. Sludgey but really nice n tough as a truck should sound 😅
Nice work man looks good.
Very nice work as always!
You and your brother are the best on UA-cam
Thanks man!!
Parabéns ❗👏👏👏👍
Like always another great video. Great editing, keep it up.
Another nice video won’t be long until I start on my 93 regular cab 22/re 4wd I’m still paying close attention
Hey austin love your work man..hope for your next project you can find toyota hilux sr 2.8 2002..love that car and hope i can see you mod that car..
Good job, saludos desde España

Urd is a awesome brand!
@@austinniemela awesome I'll order some when the border opens up. I can't wait till the border opens. I miss going to America 😢
This kinda makws me want to take the cat off my 3.4l 3rd gen 4runner, sounds pretty good
I heard you talk about that resister mod for the O2 sensors I'd really like to see how you did that and how it turns out!
It will be in one of my videos when I get there! 👍
I have been waiting for this video.🕺🕺

What kind of 02 simulator did you use on the rear 02 sensor? Does it simulate a signal for the ecu?
i think you should of put the pipe on the other side of the spring hanger shackle
but nice job
What size exhaust? I have a 96 blazer with a 4.3 want to redo the exhaust eventually when It doesn't need anything...wish you could help
2.5"!

Seafoam it maybe check for vacuum leaks hopefully not a head gasket good luck
👍
Link to the kit that you used ? i would like to purchase the same kit

I did plugs, wires, coils and new maf! Seems to run better now that I just ran it for a bit
@7:35 Uh huhuhuhuhuh huh huh you said "bung"
I guess you don't have to worry about emissions up in your area, no catalytic converter.
I have a truck just like this white one, I am considering dropping a vortec chevy 350 in it. Should I or no??? Also any suggestions?
I’d do a 3.4!
Man I wish you could help me with my aftermarket exhaust on my 07 Impreza, the Toyota exhaust turned out Bad A## ☮️
Thanks man
The vaccum hose in front of the intake goes to the idle step up valve on the steering pump and them to cold air pipe now you have a large v leak eng lean running
Where is the leak? Everything not used is plugged. Your talking about the line to FPR or the one on the front of the manifold?
And the 5vz doesn’t have a vacuum valve on the power steering pump
It should have 1 send me contact number i send you a diagram
@@luiscruz-no3ib email? anjone77@icloud.com
Do you now the year of car eng came off it may have a different idle control by ecm and not a steering valve
Makes me want to redo my exhaust and delete the Cat. Sounds good even better with a supercharger

O2 sensor bung? Where’s u get it from
The timing belts have to be replaced every 90k or so. Have you checked this one?
Yes it was done 2 years ago
Think you could duplicate that exhaust for me? I'm doing a 3.4 and a manual swap into my 3.0 auto 1990 pickup.
You got a welder? Its really easy to do! I just showed you how!!
@@austinniemela I'm deployed right now and I dont have a welder🤣
Idle air control unit is a common issue with these
Toyotas cool.yotas
idle air control valve?
Could be!
Could be your maf sensor
Where do you get the hangers and bung

Диаметр трубы какой воткнул?
Did someone already take the bumpers?
Not yet! Have someone wanting the front
@@austinniemela I’m interested in the rear for my 4runner I won’t be back in Washington until December though.
No catalytic converter? If my truck didn't have that, it would fail an emissions test.

Turn up the idle . It could just be missing because idle is to low
I actually tried this and got much better!
Please repaint the frame already
Hang on man
