Love the Schecter. I have an 80's schecter strat that was my main ax for 25 years. I don't pull it out much now that I got a PRS but it is a great guitar with a ton of character.
I see quite a few comments on the schecter. Like nice. Love the guitar etc. Its only the second video of yours I've watched so far and I appreciate what you're up to. I like the sharing of music and I taught 1 on 1 many years ago around 10 years. The one thing about the schecter that immediately got my attention is that terrible gap between the neck and the neck pocket on the guitar. That pocket is not cut for that neck. A 22 fret neck would hide that gap but still wont necessarily touch the edge of the pocket to the bottom edge of the neck. This will greatly change the tone and sustain and possibly help tuning stability. I'm building guitars now going on 3 years now and I somehow can't stop looking at that. Funny part is, once your ear gets used to what it gets used to you COULD get a different neck that wasn't pre-drilled. Install it where it fits perfectly. Improve sustain, and get a better tone (slightly but noticable) and miss it the way it was. Because you get used to what you get used to. But, I do want to give you guys a view from a different angle. I think it's cool too. Just cant stop looking at the gap cause its there.
My favorite lesson of yours …. Just built myself a partscaster Tele and i know you’d dig it !! Sounds awesome with this song thx to you showing me the ropes !! Hope you’re well bro !! 😎🤙🏼
Ok, so I'm getting that the trick is to tune the low E to what JJ played and then the other strings are relative to that, as if standard tuning relativities are retained.
Funny you mentioned about tuning by ear..I commented on a few You Tubers channels if anyone used their ear to tune then compared it to using a tuner...err..I don’t think anyone cared to reply ..I wonder why .? Huh ..huh..huh ? 😎
Marty would tune my guitar for me, and sometimes Justin bends the strings for me, just saying. And for a guy who drives a mid-engine from Stuttgart, you wear a lot of M series t-shirts (you'll get tired of bottoming out those 19s).
It sticks in my craw the way Doug Flutie was dominant at every level but he wasn’t drafted to go to the NFL. So he dominates CFL, sets every record possible, and he retires. Then he signs to play backup QB in the States and guess what?! The man is still playing as if he is on fire. Had he played NFL for his whole career he would own every record. And Super Bowl championships? Listen, we would not know who Tom Brady is, all due respect.
HA! This is funny! You just put out that video where you said you were going to try to be less disrespectful(? sorry, can't remember how you said it) And now you're telling people if they want to use a tuner they should go to another channel!! :) Sorry, I couldn't resist because I just watched that other video! BTW, good lesson, thanks.
Is that disrespectful? I’m trying to help people get what they want. If they want technical stuff, they won’t find it on my channel. If that’s disrespectful, then I can’t win.
I didn’t think it was disrespectful at all. I, however, am not blessed with the ear for pitch that you have. Mine has improved over time but I have a hard time picking out the subtleties of a note. So I need a tuner. Saves me a lot of headaches.
JJ’s salt is part of his undeniable charm. The guy puts in thousands of hours to share lessons and expertise for free. This constitutes generosity in my books.
@@jamesjames9275 I absolutely love your approach to teaching these songs. It's like you give me just what I need to learn. I'm just so thankful that you do it. You have a certain style and pace and obviously it appeals to many of us.
A bit grumpy about tuning, lol, I use my ear too, started with a tuning fork in 1980. Sure I use electronic tuners when playing with other musicians, sometimes. Players should strive to find E and A just by ear, without any cues for context, sometimes I can, I tend to be a bit flat sometimes, which is ok, it captures the Kiss, or ac/dc stone:
Good song from my younger days when Seger was on the radio nonstop. My tuner app says it's E flat. Now you can play SRV too.😁
Which tuner app do you have?
@@elinino5275 fender has one for free that works great!
Love when you tune to a song. Your explanation always cracks me up, I know you’re frustrated. Excellent lesson as always and killer tune.
I freakin love this guy!!!!!
Great lesson. Seger has so many good tunes.
Rambling gambling man came on the other day I was thinking the same thing. Unbelievable catalog.
Love that Tele. And as usual you’ve nailed it.
man i love schecter teles

Love segar.
Where is James James? I watched all the time and then life got busy. Love the content!
You're not the only one whose life got busy.
@@jamesjames9275Hey all, I miss seeing new content from you. But more importantly hope all is well.
You got some great t-shirts but that BMW ghost is my favorite!
I had a PAF 3 pickup Les Paul Custom fifty years ago. There was a tonal spot on that guitar that loved this song...Can't remember how I did it.
The first chord you are playing is called an EF U minor
Ha! That's good...🤣

Never a disappointment here. Thank you!
Always thought it was drop d. Thanks for the lesson.
Excellent! Thanks a bunch!
Nice lesson on a nice guitar and that tone sounds spot on.
My favorite tee
BMW M1 t-shirt!
Great shirt, by the way.
That opening chord is a common Seger shape. Check out Feel Like A Number, where it runs up the fretboard.
Hollywood nights too
Very cool JJ
Wait. You have 3 of these shecters now? Whew. lovely.
Just two. I gave one to my brother.
Ok, so I'm getting that the trick is to tune the low E to what JJ played and then the other strings are relative to that, as if standard tuning relativities are retained.
Yes.
Segar is tuned down half a step (Eb) on the album version.
When I first started playing guitar with friends none of us had a tuner. Hell I don't even remember anyone mentioning a tuner. That was 1973
had a pitch pipe, that's all
@@msa614 yup… just the A pipe at that.
I used a tuning fork lol
Oh yeah forgot about the pitch pipe
Just tune everything down a half step..van Halen, hendrix, others play a lot with this..
Subbed
It's tuned to E flat. One half step down
Nice Peter Gunn Grunge
It's tuned down half step D#
nice

tuned half step down
Thanks for this. What effects do they use on the recording?
There's some chorus for sure.
There's chorus and during the middle solo part bob kicks off and on a delay pedal.

Good job and thank you. Much appreciated. How do you like the Schecter Tele? I'm a Tele guy myself and have only played Fender's.
What is your opinion of bob seger
Eb 1/2 step down lol
That's solo is easy You just have to basically put a delay pedal on
Half step down
1/2 step down to E flat
Your ear is much more sensitive than a 350 dollar whammo combo bidet tuner .keep on trucking.
I wonder where Bob Seger is these days. Probably playing casinos or something…
He did a farewell tour in the last couple years and retired.
And he was still filling arenas when he did it (at least where I live)!
No face , but nails em every time … private….
I had a dream I saw a video of you playing live and u had a face. Wierd

my biggest problem with electric lessons is getting the tone/effects sounding right or at least close to the original, any tips on this ?
Yea, it’s a rip off of hangover by max webster, or visa versa.
