The Budgeteers Loved it as always guys ❤️ for the challenge, I genuinely thought you’ve done a better job than the restaurant. At least you didn’t overcook the fish like they did it with the fresh water prawns 😂😂. Thank you for staying away from “tourists Sri Lanka” and travelling through the real country and showing it to the world. 🇱🇰🇱🇰
The fish you've bough is a Skipjack Tuna, ( Scientific name: Katsuwonus Pelamis) which is a sub-species of the Tuna Family. The local name for this fish is "balaya", and is about half the price of a Tuna (in kg). So paying SLR 450/= for a small Skipjack Tuna is not a bargain but a fair price. I see that the "budgeteers" are still in Sri Lanka based on the most recent post ( ie today). I am from the western wetlands of Sri Lanka, and would like to accommodate you @ my home for some new adventures. In fact I've watched all your videos about Sri Lanka. Pls let know how I can get in touch with you if interested. Cheers. Dharshana W
Wow another super duper nice vlog 👍 🇱🇰 the best meal is the tuna & crab. Dude can you drop here price list for the dices you guys ate from that restaurant..
Yes, I want to eat the sliced cuttlefish marinaded in Sri Lankan spicy oil. At the moment I'm living in Tokyo but have never tried to taste this kind of fusion food though... Anyway I have now a good idea and a suggestion to you, guys! In Japan we have some special hotels known as "capsule hotel" features a large number of small bed-sized rooms. After coming back from Sri Lanka you can find something nice in Japan while staying at the capsule hotel. And it's another suggestion to you to stay at a type of Japanese traditional hotel called normally "ryokan" and eat sashimi by using chopsticks, etc. I'm waiting for all of you in Japan!!
Boys (plus Lena) I’ve been a fan since series one and love you guys to bits. I’m a chef and the chef if in me is telling yous ......when filleting always start from the head😉 Food looks awesome though thanks for your hard work and content
Good Video guys!! Didn’t know that Tuna & Crab restaurant is one of the best 50 in Asia until now. 🤦🏽♂️ Btw it’s illegal to ride a motorcycle 🏍 without helmets in Sri Lanka. 😃
Paddy and Thijs.. Man ur cooking skills are not bad... Its pretty good.. Right techniques uu used... The fish filled was good... That restaurant's sea food definitely heaven... But I wanna say uu cooked with heart is better than any restaurant's food...^^,
as much as you tried, the restaurant dishes were mouthwatering in presentation. the descriptions were tantalizing. However, you didn't have the tools nor condiments and spices that put theirs in a way different category. if yours had sesame seeds, soy sauce, advocado, etc, yours would have bumped up a level too.
Another great experience! Have to say though, never say never. I have gotten a bamboo sliver in my lip before using the cheap chopsticks. In a nice place like that, of course you don't have to worry.
Guys the food looked amazing. Being able to travel cook like the boys did. It was so intimate and a chill time. While the restaurant seem out of body experience. I just love to watch you guys whatever the hell are you doing 😁 So these bonus videos are awesome. I wish you have had this idea last year while in India. Its just so culturally different food in every state in India. But nevertheless awesome guys. ❤️
Im usually not into those teeny weeny fancy pant dishes so im gonna go with ur dish.. it looks good i think u nailed it but srilankans cook some more.. we overcook everything our moms use to say that raw food make ur tummy hurt lol its a myth i know it now.. :P good luck with ur experiments with local food guys!
i'm a big fan of you guys , but having a super luxury meals in your video doesn't quite related to "The Budgeteers" overall concept .... My personal thought anyway.....
this isn't part of our regular series. this series is about culture, food, drink, and more. as our channel grows we want to be able to try new things and take on new opportunities that are presented. and we hope that our audience gives us the room to do this as all we want to do is grow. we also realize that our audience are all kinds of people and travellers. we constantly get comments saying "oh we love what you do but we'd never do that" or "we budgeteer but not that extreme and not always" if youre on holiday sometimes its nice to be able to treat yourself once or twice! with comparative videos like these we hope to show you guys all the different experiences available to you as a traveller so you have the choice and knowledge to do as you want!
Guys don't ride bikes without Helmets. Sri Lankan police never forgives bike rides without helmets. Fine is Rs. 1000. Anyway love your vlogs 😍 Stay safe !

The best combination would their coffee jelly and your home made tuna!
