- Third song for today... "Smoke gets in your Eyes" was written in 1933 by Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach. It was performed by Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra in 1934, and in 1958 the Platters did their top-ten #1 hit version as a vocal group. Neat drawbar registrations used here, which give a rich sound to the mix, featuring percussions and light diapasons. Was just singing this yesterday - would help if I knew the lyrics though 🤣 - band I played in had a flugel solo chart which I used to blow poorly. Funny how musos encountered in life leave such a mark.
