    Grand Design seems like it really gets the RV market, good floor plans, high quality, and reasonable prices. As we plan ahead to do full time RV life, it's one of the top brands on our buy list.

    I prefer the mid-bunk without a loft. I find the ones with Lofts have issues with air temperature control in the bunk area. The extra air volume and simpler ducting remove this issue. The extra natural light is also a plus. I'd like to see a fold out sofa bed on the bottom, as these traditional north-south bunks are becoming too short for our son. All in all this is one of the best efficiency mid bunks I have seen. Well done GD.

    Not sure why they don’t motorized the TV though and make it drop down into the counter. That would solve your proximity concerns. That’s the way our open range is and we love it because don’t ever use the TV

    What I like about that floorplan, is it is mostly travel friendly. With the outside fridge, you could boondock somewhere, and get to the bunks, and master without moving the slides out. Making longer travel days possible.

    We got this same unit in August. I really like it as well. The only thing I would like and I agree with you is I would've liked to have a coffee bar and a small divider between the tv and stove. However, the divider shouldn't be the full depth of the counter because you would lose a lot of counter space right next to the stove. Also wasn't too sure about the rear dinette but it turns out to be really a great idea. Very comfortable for my wife and her sister. Since our kids are grown and don't go camping with us it's plenty big enough for us. BTW I pull with a one-ton Ram with no problems.

    I like everything about this floor plan and the details except the second door on the bunk house area. Seems they could eliminate the barn door style one going into the kitchen and place the TV there giving much more real counter room in the kitchen. It would also allow them to place another window where the tv currently is.

    I bought a 31MB and I'm sitting in the dinette right now. I'm glad that this unit didn't have a loft that would have made the bunkhouse claustrophobic with the low ceiling. There is some lost storage underneath the lower bunk, but there are some videos of some simple mods that you can do to access this storage for things you don't need on a daily basis. Our TV, a Logix, is an off brand that I believe might be made by Seiki, a South Korean company. Decent picture and I might look into a slim sound bar. I was told that the Jensen entertainment center behind the glass door does NOT have a Blu-ray player, only a standard DVD player. That was a bad decision forcing you to get a standalone Blu-ray. Also, the empty bay next to the Jensen could have been deeper to accommodate my Dish Wally Receiver, which has to be put on the countertop. The Coleman Mach AC's are the best. Quiet, quick to cool, fully ducted so that each unit cools the entire unit. Both work off of a thermostat. The bath is a little tight, but the shower is adequate at 30x36. I use a shower chair, which fits inside nicely. The hanging wardrobe and 4 drawers in the front bedroom are great along with the storage on either side of the bed. The USB plug up above the bed in the center is a little strange since if your charging your phone, you have to put the phone up on the small shelf and tuck away the cord. The wall outlets on either side of the bed should have had a built in USB, which probably can be swapped out. In summary, this floorplan and unit is a major upgrade over my TT that had very tight bunks in the back corner. I won't mention the brand, since there were just too many problems I encountered in just a 6 month old unit.

    I like it as is except: I would turn the mid bunk in an office/sitting room/hide out. Kick out the bunks and cabinets, basically strip it bare and start over. Maybe call it a man,she cave. Like the rear dinette with the windows and agree that the tv needs to be isolated from the kitchen, easy enough to do. and if it isn't on a swivel type stand, make it so number 1!

    This is by far the best mid bunk Ive seen. I sat in one a year ago (2019 model) at the Tampa Super show and I was blown away. I did not understand why the theater seat window was so high that you needed to be a giant to look out. Well how bout this, the president of Grand Design just so happened to be right out side and the sales man said why not ask him. Well you know what, I did. The individual came in and sat down while looking out. He also needed to get out of his seat to look outside. He then picked up the phone and called someone in design and asked why this was designed this way. The person could not answer and he then proceeded to right it down. And there you have it, the 2020 model was changed (I'd like to think so).... I have to say after watching your video, I was extremely impressed that a person actually did what they said they were gonna do... It's been a trend lately..... Also the bunk in this version is the first one Ive seen that doesn't actually look like a dungeon. That loft, in my humble opinion is a waste of safe and is a hazard for a child to slip and or roll off the darn thing.... Any hoots, that you for your attention to detail in all you videos. Good luck and God speed sir!!!!!

  • @E_House
    @E_House 4 роки тому +1

    This model needs: 1) more windows in each bunk so you can actually get cross breeze ventilation when camping. No one wants hot kids that can't sleep! Kinda a deal breaker for us. 2) the vents in the midbunk are blocked when the slides are in. Stupid engineering. They should be mid way up the wall so if you are stopped and can't put out the slides, heat can still come out of the vents. 3) There should have been a loft (with 2 windows for cross ventilation) above the midbunk room so that kids can have separate space, especially since that ceiling height is waisted in the room bc it wasn't given to the top bunk(can't sit up in bed! ). 4) the rear table should not be a U seat. Those have everyone's knees knock. It should be a 45" table like the ones Outdoors RV uses in all their trailers. Outdoors RV benches and table fit 6 people and the tables are actually large enough to eat on and serve food at. They are the best. 5) Would be better if the cabinets next to the bed went all the way down to the nightstand like they do in Outdoors RV trailers. I fit my entire wardrobe into them. Then they could make the wardrobe cabinet big enough for a W/D & owners would still have enough room to store their clothes. 6) Would be nice to not have dark wood cabinets but gray washed so that interior's lighter but still dark enough to not show dirt and dust that comes with camping out in nature. 7) more insulation like true 4 season trailers have ie Outdoors RV. Need 2" insulation on basement doors and insulation in the compartments. Otherwise all that cold air is in the bay making the bedroom above it cold. 8) Personally, I'd rather have a window than a TV. It's camping after all. I like to see nature, not TV. 9) The couch should not be interrupted with arm rests & cup holders. This is a big family rig. Needs couch seating for at least 4. #1,3,4,7&9 are must haves IMO. Otherwise, GD has done a great job getting a 5th wheel for a family in a shorter length, which to me is a must since camping in National Parks, State Parks, and National Forests, which generally require under 30' rigs.

    The partially solution to the concern about cooking spray getting on the TV is getting a outdoor TV cover from Amazon. Of course this would not work if you were watching TV while cooking was going on, but it would be a partial solution.

    I wonder when they're going to start adding slides in the rear cap of fifth wheels, I think that would be neat. If you did that with this design, so that way that dinette would be completely out or at least halfway out of the floor space of the camper it would give a lot more room. But then again, it would take away some of the space from the slides on each side, else there would be no room for them to all come inside.
