Greetings.. I tried the same powder and color and I also had the same results. It was cakey and hard to remove.
beautybychichi i appreciate your honesty in this video so much. this powder got so much hype. i have mine in the shade 20 light medium. i looks cakey on my face. it made me look like i had a tone of makeup. it made my makeup look heavy. i have combo to oily skin. it has a semi matte finish, hence doesn't work well for gals like me. i get oily easily using this powder. and by the end of the day, i was an oily mess and my lines cracked which i have never experienced before. on sunny days, my face became super greasy like crazy.

The maybelline side looked really good to me maybe another shade would have worked 😊
I believe the shade deep would fit your skin tone since you have a darker skin tone. I wear nc 45 and the shade dark is fine
I tried it today and the video will be up tomorrow, my opinion definitely changed when I tried deep.

Just wondering why you used a setting powder and finishing powder for comparison....? They are two totally different products and have different purposes. Finishing powders aren’t meant for baking or setting. They are just for finishing the look and getting a sort of airbrushed affect. Both of these are great products if used for what they were intended to do. This review doesn’t really do any justice to the Fit Me powder since it wasn’t used correctly. I think this would be better if you compared two setting powders.
The powders can be used both ways which is why they have them in various shades. Laura Mercier has their "translucent setting Powder" in white to set underneath the eyes or to set the face. When she created the darker shade, people can use it for baking, or setting and same for the maybelline fit me powders.
beautybychichi a finishing powder is a powder you apply after a setting powder (which locks in product) it’s used to blur imperfections and smooth over the face after you apply a setting powder. They actually aren’t the same (although it may seem that way)
Thank you Samitty! These are two completely different products. Here is the key difference (for folks who may be interested) the Maybelline powder will NOT hold back oil and break down of your makeup for several hours the way the the Laura Mercier will. Different products, folks! NO comparison. And, YES, I have them both and have used them both. I even tried to use the Maybelline as a setting powder after watching a few youtube videos and the oil broke through on my nose and cheeks in under two hours.
The cheaper one wasn't made for baking as u said so it wouldn't perform well as something it's not.
The powder with the red undertone works better for your skintone imo.
High Maintenance Minimalist It does look better with my skin tone but it doesn't highlight the under eyes as well as a yellow powder would.

@beautybychichi It'll probably be better if you went with the shade 35 in the Loose Powder. It did a phenomenal job for me. Shade 30 was way to bright & ashy so I went back & got 35 & it is marvellous! Now the shade dark I had concerns about using that as a contour color...Just a suggestion for ya.

exactly, the maybelline powder is a finishing powder not a setting powder
It's not because she's darker. I am like a couple of shades lighter than her, and the maybelline powder is hard to remove once you bake it, and it looks soo cakey. It clung into my dry patch. So I just use the laura mercier deep one- no highlighted under eye for me, but at least it doesn't look cakey.

You should dry....Deep. Deep was more suitable for my skin tone & I'm about your skin tone.

omg i want the laura mercier so bad! it has a warmer tone than regular banana powders and is very similar to my skin tone so it would look more natural while keeping me matte which I’m so here for! I’m just not down to spend $38 on a powder! can you please try/review/compare the milani make it last setting powder in medium deep? i heard the colors are very similar and it is $11!

Ive tried the powder in "deep" but it's not my favorite because I still end up really oily at the end of the day.

ohmanitscourt setting powder have potent oil control ingredients like kaolin calcium carbonate while finishing will have more "effects "ingredients like mica synthetic fluogophite to add some luminosity to skin

what shade maybelline powder did you use? because i have the deepest shade which is shade 40 in the maybelline fit me powder & its very close the Laura Mercier the only difference was the under tones....
The Shade was Medium Deep which is in the #30! and they did look similar but the undertones were definitely off
beautybychichi Ok whenever you can try shade 40 & see if you like i personally love & i went with it because i know these companies always get us wrong with their so call dark & deep shades.....

The laura in medium deep looks natural
it worked great on the other girls. you should have used spray.
I used a setting spray, it still looked ashy afterwords. Medium isn't a good match for my skin tone no matter how I tried it.

I use deep now, medium wasn't the right shade for my under-eyes...it looked a bit too ashy. & yes I definetly would recommend the powder when it comes to drugstore.

Yes I used a finishing spray which took away some of the powder but it still looked cakey after-wards!

The maybelline powder color u chose is wrong for ur skin tone, u need to go deeper
Everyone is saying that Maybelline looks smooth and better than Laura mercier you are the only one who doesn't agree with that ! and says the opposite which surprises me , i think it's not maybelline's problem actually it might be your under eye area's or maybe you didn't moisturize well before using it , and you picked up the wrong Shade honey so that explains why you didn't like the Maybelline side
