    I use to hate the idea of this stuff, but when I was 20, I finally tried it on a burger, and it changed my life. Used to eat plain cheeseburgers too. Mayo opened me up to MORE.

    A tanker of liquid eggs... it's gonna be weird passing one on the highway now because I always just assume they're full of gasoline or oil, now I'm gonna be wondering if that 80 ton truck that just passed me is full of eggs... 80 fucking tons of eggs.....

      They're using thickeners(or "bulking agents" in the trade), starch and xantham gum, to make "light" mayonnaise. Or solidified sour water with paprika colouring.
      Oh! You can also markup the price because it's a "diet product". Win-win situation, if you ask me. Spend less, earn more.

    I personaly like to make it with kernel oil, tastes great. By the way, did you know that you can make soybean oil at home? So much for the GMO part. If you don't want it manufactured then make your own, opens doors to so many taste and health options.

    • @jashroy

      Soybean oil and all other grain/seed oils are bad for you due to heavy processing that oxidizes the oil's polyunsaturated fats.

  • @coolbionicle
    @coolbionicle 11 років тому +3

    Mayo is the easiest condiment to make, all you need is a beater or food procesor. The ketchup has to be coocked and has a LOT of ingredients. And the mustard, which is the hardest, has to be left to ferment. And if you ever want to make some salt, all you have to do is to take a bucket of sea water and leave it under the sun to evaporate :) .

    Take 4 eggyolks, a teaspoon of mustard, the juice of one lemon, some salt, pepper and beat vigourously till it starts getting lighter in colour. Add olive oil in little drips while continuing the beating, takes less than 5 minutes and you end up with a really lovely mayo. I do it once a week because I'm gluten intolerant

    Homemade mayo is easy. It's just eggs, oil and some seasoning. :) This factory made stuff is just nasty :(

      Tiffy tiger, people that hate Mayo usually like Miracle Whip. The real difference is that Mayo people like a sour tang while Miracle Whip people like it sweeter.

    Anything with egg in it shouldn't be able to sit on a shelf more than a day. So many preservatives. Mayo should be eggs, vinegar and oil and nothing else.

      The Vinegar and Salt are both preservatives and the eggs themselves are pasteurised. Also don't forget the entire process is cooled and sanitary. It won't go bad till it heats up and is opened which doesn't happen really since mayonnaise is kept in the fridge after you buy it.

    Try McKormick's or La Costeña Mexican mayonaises, natural ingridients and sugar free, I also like Fud deli products none of them is sweetened with sugar,
