It was you who inspired me to start making videos. Some other great stuff came up too so a bummer about the camera failing. All the best, Rich.
Thanks, Rich, what an introduction to the gold coin club this was. See you also made the club with your fantastic gold 100 reis last week, well done, mate, yeah shame about the camera, but such is life All the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
Did do mate, already responded to say I'll be there (all things being equal). Was out this afternoon and came up with what I think is a medieval seal matrix, will get photos and video sorted as soon as FLO confirms for me, well chuffed as this is another first for me for this year.
Congratulations on a spectacular find mate. As you said, out of nowhere and completely unexpected......that's how it happens! You'll be buzzing for weeks, trust me! Hi Martin, OK you were quick off the mark there, mate, I only got back this evening, didn't find much else though. Had a great time altogether and it was great meeting you all. Anyway, look forward to meeting up again on 23rd, all the best, GL&HH, Ian,

But this one will always stay with me. Thanks for watching, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.

Hi Tom, thanks, mate, couldn't believe what I was seeing, even after I'd been looking at it for a while. Face was a picture indeed and the language was fit for a trendy BBC drama, so had to edit the clips, still think the excitement still came through, All the best to you, hope your knee is doing OK, GL&HH, Ian.
Amazing finds ian, well done on all the hammered coins especially the gold, very well deserved.. Looks like you are on quite the roll at the moment. I hope it continues for you too.. Hh Ian
Thanks, Ian, really was a weekend and a half (hammered half?) The roll seems to be continuing as I went back to Yorkshire two weeks later and had my second gold coin, unbelievable!!!, video coming up on Friday. Hope to catch up with you again soon, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Cheers, Philip, have to say Yorkshire is an amazing place to detect and I always enjoy my trips over there, as you say, brilliant, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian
Thanks, guys, this was my first ever gold coin find and two weeks later I found another gold coin, absolutely amazing. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian
Thanks, John, I have been really lucky and got some tremendous finds over the last couple of months, more to come as I had my second gold coin just two weeks after this one. Video to follow as soon as possible. Thanks for watching and commenting, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
Hello Ian, what a cracking gold hammered coin, very pleased for you m8 and congrats on the silvers you found and other finds, all the best, Regards Boo, ps Richbiss will comment when his work slows down, it's manic at the moment.

I stuck the link up on the forum to let the DS members have a look :-) hope to catch up with you on your next trip but if not mate we are heading down to Norfolk in August ( Kim's digs ). If your interested then I can send you the links
Cheers, mate, I did try to do that myself but couldn't figure out how, must be an age thing :) Will try again with my next video on Friday with the gold sovereign. Please send me links for Norfolk, I have an invite in August to a dig in Stoke but am not sure if it will go ahead. Thanks again, will catch up one way or another, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Thanks, Mac, really is an awesome feeling, keep at it, mate, they seem to come at you right out of the blue and most unexpectedly, all the best, GL&HH, Ian,
I,m at Bedale this Sunday with the chance of some really good finds as the Romans were in the area were doing, hopefully i,l get a coin or two but I,d really be Happy with a Gold 1.
Looks like someone had a good days detecting 😎. Amazing find Ian and well deserved.. Gold is nice enough but gold hammered is something extra special. You did well not to swear and run around the field naked . Hard to tell how I'd react if I ever found one but lots of swearing and some naked-ness 😂😂. Stunning find Ian , good on yer mate.. Best wishes
Hah, good days detecting? good three days detecting, Mik. To be honest, although I didn't do the naked field running thing (didn't want to curdle the cows milk in the next field) but really did swear like a trooper, had to make loads of edits to the video, lol. So hard not to react like that. All the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
Awesome Ian, I am still waiting for my first gold coin!, it will come! congrats again mate, Still waiting for the Big hospital app!. Catch up with ya soon mate GL & HH Baz...
Hi Uli, greetings, mate, from Cumbria. Thanks for looking in, glad you enjoyed the video again, hope everything is OK with you, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Congrats Ian on a great hunt.We have nothing like that to find in NZ. I wish I could just once come out with you and find a hammy or something similar, But I don't at this stage even have a detector; working on it though.:-] but will never get over your way.
Hi Neville, thanks very much, we really are lucky to be able to detect and find ancient coins and relics like this, though to be honest, these finds are the exception rather than the rule, many times we go out and find very little and for the first couple of months this year I blanked on every dig, but times like this one certainly do make up for the blanks digs. There do seem to be a lot of detectorists in NZ and Oz either coin shooting or gold detecting, go for it ,mate, great fun all round. All the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
Great hunt Ian, I no it was a nearly a year ago but great finds 👍👍👍👍, I've been out of the hobby for a couple of years but I have just bought my self a bargain? A Garrett ace 250 only been used twice + a spade £129, the ace 150 & 250 both went up in price mid December 2016 😢, any how great 👍
Hi Jason, this was an unforgettable hunt for me, never had a gold coin before. Nice one on the 250, cracking price even for a 2nd hand model. Welcome back to the hobby, mate, still great fun. All the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Hi Seb, Thanks for looking in and for your comment. I used to do the live action clips but then I started doing a lot of sites where headphones were required so people couldn't hear the machine going off and then I started to find it too difficult to do the live digs and film with a steady hand at the same time so gave them up. I could include a camera tripod in my kit but I need to limit the amount of stuff I carry round on these digs as they involve a lot of walking and often hill climbing, not only on the sites but also to get there. All t he best, Ian.
Hi, the 400i is a great machine. My other machine is a Euroace. You just never know what you'll find and where. More recently [last year] I found a raw gold nugget with the 400i in a field in Yorkshire, a long way from any rivers, so no idea how it got there. All the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
How you doing Ian, not had much time to view the vids with work and kids but really chuffed to see you get the GOLD hammy, you and hel now share the same feeling for that gold but alas it is evading me lol noooooo I'll keep on looking though. 😆😆😆😆
Hi Steve, nice to hear from you, mate, am doing okay, thanks, was a long time coming but wow when it came it really came good. As you say you haven't had much time to view the vids, I guess you haven't seen the next vid after this one, where I had my second gold coin (two weeks later!), just amazing. Been all over the place detecting recently, was down in Norfolk for the rally there and have trips planned to Yorkshire, Scotland and Cambridge with non detecting trips to Somerset and Isle of Skye as well. How did I ever find time to work, lol, Hope you, Hel and family are all okay, we must catch up sometime one of these days, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian. PS. Your turn for the gold.
+ian hughes Just finished watching your other gold vid, " it's a gold rush " lol and what a beautiful coin it was, stunning, I feel a hoard of staters are waiting to jump under my coil if only 😆, yes it would be great to catch up maybe our paths will cross at a rally you'll have to let us know which ones your heading to mate and we'll try to attend and meet up you can now take hels crown as gold digger lol 😅
Yeeeah! Well done Ian! I'm very happy for you. Are you still using the salt in vinegar trick I told you about to put a shine on your coppers? Do any of your friends use it?
Hello, mate, yes have used it quite a few times now, have also mentioned it to quite a few people, don't know if they're using it though, all the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
Hi Wayne, Was using the Garrett Euroace at that time, since upgraded to the Ace 400i, still use the Euroace occasionally though. Thanks for watching, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Hi Richard, I did straighten the edge, just slight pressure with finger and thumb, very soft metal. As to what it is, the FLO has it as a Henry VI quarter Noble, 1422 to 31 but the Searcher valuation and ID page has it as a possible contemporary Continental forgery of the same, jury is still out on this one. Both friends and landowner have said they do not want a share of this coin, as they are just pleased to see such a great find coming up, mind you if it was a hoard I guess the reaction would be very different, lol. All the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
Not at all daft, mate, the only daft questions are those that are never asked. It seems that during the reigns of Henry IV, V and VI, continental imitations of English hammered gold coins were made and used in trade transactions. I suppose this is different to forgeries, as the gold content was exactly the same. Either way it is a fantastic find and I'm still chuffed to bits with it.
Oh, right, I thought they were suggesting it was 20th Century or something like that. May have been thrown away since you may have been put to death if you had it?
Hello Ian. Awesome footage. Love it. You and everybody else love to spend their time with prospecting, are warmly welcome to publish your movies and pictures in our PRO GOLD PROSPECTORS GROUP in Facebook. Cheers facebook.com/progoldprospectors/
Hi Jorge, just got your message as it was put into my spam folder. Thanks for your interest, glad you liked the video. Unfortunately I do not do facebook but have passed your link to several other detectorists who do. All thebest, mate, GL&HH, Ian.

To be honest, although I didn't do the naked field running thing (didn't want to curdle the cows milk in the next field) but really did swear like a trooper, had to make loads of edits to the video, lol. So hard not to react like that. All the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.

Hello Ian,
Haven't been here for a long time,
but congrats on your great finds.
And a good video again.
Greetings from berlin
Uli
Hi Uli, greetings, mate, from Cumbria. Thanks for looking in, glad you enjoyed the video again, hope everything is OK with you, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Yes Ian everything's good.
Started to go out again after a long time of absence.
Hope to load up a video this weekend.
Happy hunt to you.
Uli
OK Uli, look forward to that, good luck and happy hunting, mate, Ian.
If I can manage to pay for one, then I will head to our Westcoast looking for some nuggets :-]
Great hunt Ian, I no it was a nearly a year ago but great finds 👍👍👍👍, I've been out of the hobby for a couple of years but I have just bought my self a bargain? A Garrett ace 250 only been used twice + a spade £129, the ace 150 & 250 both went up in price mid December 2016 😢, any how great 👍
Forgot to say that I bought my ace 250 second hand from smack converters
Hi Jason, this was an unforgettable hunt for me, never had a gold coin before. Nice one on the 250, cracking price even for a 2nd hand model. Welcome back to the hobby, mate, still great fun. All the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Thanks 🙏 Ian, good luck too
only thing I would suggest is live action.... see you working your machine and a few live digs!
I have a 400i I like you have a 250 is it. And you find gold in a place like that. Makes me feel good of the land I have that I haven faith in.
@@Janhyooz thank you for the reply again this gives me confidence brilliant.

Amazing!
Thanks, mate, amazing find indeed, well chuffed, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Ian what can I say but well deserved well done m8
Hi Paul, thanks, mate, still buzzing when I think about it even now, lol, catch up on another dig soon, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
still a good outing
Loverly mate.
Cheers, mate, thanks for watching, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
nice finds what metal detector is that one
Hi Wayne, Was using the Garrett Euroace at that time, since upgraded to the Ace 400i, still use the Euroace occasionally though. Thanks for watching, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
👍👍
Thanks, Donald, all the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
Where did you get your equipment and where in Yorkshire is this
Hi I get my equipment from Regton in Birmingham, can't tell you in any more detail where the sites are though as they're not my permissions.
Well done, Ian! What was it? Did you straighten it? Did you share it with your friends?
Hi Richard, I did straighten the edge, just slight pressure with finger and thumb, very soft metal. As to what it is, the FLO has it as a Henry VI quarter Noble, 1422 to 31 but the Searcher valuation and ID page has it as a possible contemporary Continental forgery of the same, jury is still out on this one. Both friends and landowner have said they do not want a share of this coin, as they are just pleased to see such a great find coming up, mind you if it was a hoard I guess the reaction would be very different, lol. All the best, mate, GL&HH, Ian.
lol! What year are they suggesting if it is a forgery, Ian? (which sounds daft)
No definitely not modern. You may very well be right with your reasoning about why it was there as there were no other finds in that field.
