Good job and explanation - I live alone in BKK and found your cost estimations spot on - well done SIR. I think you and I live similarly - I also use a slow cooker. Other prices - chicken quarters (drumstick & thigh) about THB 68 per kg (or USD 0.93 per pound), pork butt THB 117 per kg (USD 1.61 per pound) compared to USD 2.00 & 3.00 per pound respectively in parts of US.

Great video. Thank you for sharing. This is similar to a budget I might have when I retire, as I don't drink and really don't care about chasing women anymore.

Great vlog, I'm thinking of retiring next year to Thailand and have seen so many vlogs on living costs that conflict each other. I've got a budget of around £1,300 UK pounds a month and was beginning to think that wouldn't be enough but now I feel more confident.

You may be ok living on £1300 a month, but unless you have 800k in Thai baht in a bank, you won't have enough for a retirement visa with £1300.

I've lived in Bangkok for 16 years. You can easily live in Bangkok if you have 1300 GBP coming in each month. Most months I spend less than 700 GBP.

I live in Australia by myself and eat at home every meal all the time. I don't eat outside because it's not great value for the money, and what you get is crap.I spend around 30 AUD a day for my breakfast, lunch and dinner, and coffees and fruits I eat in a day. I try to eat healthy, so my usual meal look like 150g salmon which costs AUD plus rice and salad or grilled or steamed vegetables (all together 10AUD). Two meals like this is 20 AUD, plus my oatmeal and protein powder porridge with banana and mixed nuts is around 5 AUD, and the rest 5 AUD is for fruits, coffee, one yoghurt, all together 30 AUD. So I spend 30 AUD X 30 = 900 AUD a month feeding myself. Which is more than his monthly budget. Sometimes I think I must be doing something wrong, cant believe how I can be spending this much on food alone, but when you go outside and they charge 15 AUD for a shity kebab without adding any extras, which barely has anything in it, and you still feel hungry after eating it, 10 AUD per meal at home doesn't feel too much. Still something is very wrong in this country.

I run a family of four on ฿56K a month but for the most of the last 18 years it was like ฿40K per month. Now our oldest is in uni so that costs a bit more.
I do have a drink, so I could probably knock off 3 or 4K if I gave that away.
Ok, we have our own house, so no rent.....but we don't go shy on electricity....around ฿3K baht per month.

@@DiscoveringThailand Glad to help out as it is just an observation. I too live a rather simpler life in Bang Saray but I’m not a retiree though I have a non immigrant OA visa. I winter in Thailand and usually return to England in April. Though this year I may extend my visa as I want to go to the ashes series for the Boxing Day test and maybe the new year test in Sydney. I don’t have a scooter but choose to either walk and take public transport as the cost isn’t expensive but do a monthly shop at Big C and Makro in Sattahip for the items I can’t get at the morning market. I grab a bolt taxi for that. Breakfast is cereal 🥣 and a coffee and eat out everyday as it’s cheaper than cooking. I do go out twice a week at the weekend to watch the premiership football. All I’m doing is living life like I do in England but here in the sun of Thailand at a fraction of the cost. All the best 😎👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
