Good job and explanation - I live alone in BKK and found your cost estimations spot on - well done SIR. I think you and I live similarly - I also use a slow cooker. Other prices - chicken quarters (drumstick & thigh) about THB 68 per kg (or USD 0.93 per pound), pork butt THB 117 per kg (USD 1.61 per pound) compared to USD 2.00 & 3.00 per pound respectively in parts of US.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. This is similar to a budget I might have when I retire, as I don't drink and really don't care about chasing women anymore.
Great vlog, I'm thinking of retiring next year to Thailand and have seen so many vlogs on living costs that conflict each other. I've got a budget of around £1,300 UK pounds a month and was beginning to think that wouldn't be enough but now I feel more confident.
I live in Australia by myself and eat at home every meal all the time. I don't eat outside because it's not great value for the money, and what you get is crap.I spend around 30 AUD a day for my breakfast, lunch and dinner, and coffees and fruits I eat in a day. I try to eat healthy, so my usual meal look like 150g salmon which costs AUD plus rice and salad or grilled or steamed vegetables (all together 10AUD). Two meals like this is 20 AUD, plus my oatmeal and protein powder porridge with banana and mixed nuts is around 5 AUD, and the rest 5 AUD is for fruits, coffee, one yoghurt, all together 30 AUD. So I spend 30 AUD X 30 = 900 AUD a month feeding myself. Which is more than his monthly budget. Sometimes I think I must be doing something wrong, cant believe how I can be spending this much on food alone, but when you go outside and they charge 15 AUD for a shity kebab without adding any extras, which barely has anything in it, and you still feel hungry after eating it, 10 AUD per meal at home doesn't feel too much. Still something is very wrong in this country.
Same only I eat more meat .At the moment, in Thailand Australian beef burger x2 cost about 120 Bath, about $ 5//6 I made pictures iven these items import and compared to local it's expensive Still cheaper than back home . There is a problem back home

@DiscoveringThailand I think, just watching your visa rejection vid, maybe lay out the various options to stay long term in Thailand other than the retirement visa...cheers 😀
@DiscoveringThailand maybe also for another vid, explain the options for mobile phone access as I would think it'd be rather expensive to keep an Australian sim card ...
@@DiscoveringThailand I mean the list goes on, basically every aspect of setting up life in a Thailand, motorbike rental/purchase, options for living in condos/gated resort, public tpt, food budget for cheap options eating out/or in as a cost comparison, why to live where, beach or country, I would think the smoke season in Chang mai would be horrible, rather be beach side personally but what sold you on Chang mai....so on, obviously you touched on a few things already and I haven't seen all your videos yet 🙂

Hey Pete, enjoying your informative content mate… When your super hits will you up your expenditures or live a similar life? I guess I’m asking are you living as minimal as possible at the moment or are you living how you like?
Hi there, I hope to buy a condo and not pay rent anymore. At that point I will travel a bit more. I could live a lot cheaper than I am now but this is how I budgeted. My expenses won't go up by much... I have all I want but would like to travel around asia like I have in the past :) Oh and buy a nice adventure touring motorbike :)
@@DiscoveringThailand Thanks for reply. Early retirement in South East Asia has been really playing on my mind for the last 6 months… Your channel is answering a lot of the questions I have about Chiang Mai. The heat is the main thing that is putting me off, not sure I could cope,

So obviously, you don't have to have $20,000 in the bank or prove that you have an income of at least $2,000 a month to retire in Thailand? Because that's what I keep hearing.
That depends on what type of extension of stay visa you're on. I don't need the income, just the 800k baht sitting in a thai bank account for my visa. But that's nothing to do with my monthly budget. I have a video on getting a retirement visa.

You may be ok living on £1300 a month, but unless you have 800k in Thai baht in a bank, you won't have enough for a retirement visa with £1300.

I've lived in Bangkok for 16 years. You can easily live in Bangkok if you have 1300 GBP coming in each month. Most months I spend less than 700 GBP.
