What I love about the beginning is that Vale LITERALLY FUCKING FOUND THE RECIPE FOR BOILING WATER AND SAID THAT IT NEEDED TWO ROCKS and then everyone just forgot about that because apparently in the crew everyone's pipes are lined with lead and their carbon monoxide alarms are 50 years out of date.

I feel really bad saying this but I'd like to correct a common mistake. A 'modpack' is a group of mods, and a mod is an individual modification, like First Aid, the mod responsible for the ability to damage individual limbs. Sorry for being 'that one commenter'

Valefisk seems to be mistaken; the fact that the end goal is completely unobtainable, making this entire island a fruitless torture chamber for the players, makes this perfectly on par with every other Valefisk video.
You can pan for copper pretty easily with a pan made from clay. Also, there are different types of copper like malachite and tetrahedrite, the latter of which spawns in marble.

Accents in America are generally an interesting thing to read about if you ever feel like it, coast to coast it varies widely but when you start looking into neighboring regions they can blend into each other.

I’d bed the first caveman to discover how to start fires would feel really stupid if he found out that thousands of years in the future his descendants would use technology more advanced than he could possibly imagine to imitate the caveman lifestyle. I mean you don’t even need a copper saw to make a canoe the Polynesian islanders clearly managed just fine without copper but this mod insists you need it anyway.
Yeah, the copper saw requirement thing really boggles my mind. It's a canoe, basically a log with a hollowed out center. In what world do you require a SAW to hollow out a log? It's so ridiculous, especially with the fact that the mod creator added "dietary needs" as if to make it more "realistic". Putting in arbitrary, nonsensical requirements just to make it more difficult is not how you make a good mod. 2/10

There's an actual game called Vintage Story which is basically TerraFirmaCraft the game. It was heavily inspired by it among a number of other things. It's gorgeous, and it has mod support built in. The modding tools were used for the base game itself.

I literally started playing this mod pack 2 weeks ago, I have died 45 times, have played for about 40 hours and I haven’t even gotten to iron in terms of progression.
Holy moly, is that the Yogscast Shadow of Israphel Season 2 Survival Island, released on January 2nd, 2011, while waiting for the Nether to be finished? That's amazing! Never knew Valefisk was such a fan of the classics!
kinda funny but how you detail everything at the beginning is just. vintage story. you have to knap stone for basic stone tools, you need to craft baskets to unlock inventory space, bears are a Big Threat, etc. it's also a voxel game, and has a lot of neat stuff!! highly recommend checking it out if this modpack interests you. (also it has a detailed handbook to teach you how everything works)
To anyone who was interested in the big mod changing crafting and eating. The creators of it eventually got pissed off with struggling against Minecraft spaghetti code and went off to make their own game. Vintage Story. While it looks similar, it is not minecraft, it is it's own thing and it's quite wonderful ! And not as difficult to learn as it may seem. It's not on steam yet, only on the devs own site of the same name, but I highly recommend you all check it out ! Alone or on multiplayer, it's really a treat to learn and master.
yeah, the vintage story devs have nothing to do with TFC. fun fact, though: the lead dev (Tyron) worked on Hytale for like 6 months in 2015 before deciding he wasn't satisfied with the direction of the game and leavihg. he's since released an actual, working game with plenty of updates while Hypixel trips on their own shoelaces lmao

TFC on an island? Immediately I have a list of things that could be the ultimate reason why they don't succeed. No copper veins? No flux stones? No graphite/kaolenite for fire clay? No veins to create any kind of bronze (bismuthunite, tin, etc)? No iron for a bloomery once they DO get bronze? That's just off the top of my head.

Fish eyes do actually have drinkable water. It isn’t enough to live off of but it’s enough to keep you alive.

While TFC was a stated inspiration for Vintage Story, I don't think they actually share any developers. VS is still cool though, check it out.
yeah, the vintage story devs have nothing to do with TFC. fun fact, though: the lead dev (Tyron) worked on Hytale for like 6 months in 2015 before deciding he wasn't satisfied with the direction of the game and leavihg.
he's since released an actual, working game with plenty of updates while Hypixel trips on their own shoelaces lmao

@@ronaldtugnut8954 You're right, I was thinking of vintagecraft, except you're not right, TFC is definitely a modpack, I have seen that health mod used in other packs, like RLCraft, and that weather mod I know is available as a stand-alone mod.
TFC is also regularly mentioned in VS talks as being either a precursor or inspiration, you sure there's no relation on that end either?

TFC on an island? Immediately I have a list of things that could be the ultimate reason why they don't succeed.
No copper veins?
No flux stones?
No graphite/kaolenite for fire clay?
No veins to create any kind of bronze (bismuthunite, tin, etc)?
No iron for a bloomery once they DO get bronze?
