    I guess the next step of this exercise would be to put the metronome on &ands, e's and a's...great lesson ! Thanks Dan.

    I find my internal clock and sense of time is great as a listener but once I have the mental stack of also trying to play, as a beginner it all goes to shit fast.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah that sounds normal so don’t worry. A lot of it is technique and control over the instrument. Once you get that down, it’s much easier.

    Thank you! I am just wondering why are you playing on the rests? E.g around the 5 minute mark

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  3 роки тому +3

      No problem! The notation indicates where the metronome beats lie, not the actual bass line. You can actually play what you like over these exercises!

    My apologies if I missed it, did you say how long for each exercise? I shoot for 3-6 minutes per to simulate playing a song.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  9 місяців тому +1

      I didn’t say how long. You can tailor it to how long you have. 3-6 minutes sounds pretty good. 👍

  • @AlexandarShmex

    I am probably doing something wrong. To me this isn't a challenge at all, because I don't even listen to the metronome clicks, I simply play the groove and it's always accurate. When I hear a groove, I know how it should sound and I play it from my head, I don't know if this makes sense.
    Please tell me if I completely miss the point of the exercise!

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  2 роки тому +3

      If you’re always accurate then you’re doing something right! Carry on. 🙏👍

      Are you making sure that you are playing the note on beat 1, then on beat 2& and on beat 3 ? At 1:07 Dan shows the bassline tab..

      @@nouyed Hey Naved, I don't even think about it like that, I don't count. If it makes sense, I simply hear it as du d-du ... du d-du :) I can recreate the sound exactly in my head when I hear it once and I just replicate it. I spoke to my bass professor about counting as well, he never counted anything and he's an elite player. He told me: "I'd like to see someone count a Macedonian kolo (form of music for kolo dance) that's in 17/16" :)
