You know Kathleen, I have no system to my ideas and it's maddening when I need ideas. I waste time looking through videos and get frustrated when I can't find what I'm looking for. So I will give your idea a go! Love how it works for you! That sweet little school book is so cute! How exciting to receive happy mail, lovely! Hugs friend.🥰
I’m surprised a little Nancy - I thought you would have a system because you are so organized in your crafting. But, I admit it really is a challenge. I also spend way too much time trying to find videos again. I really need a system for that!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Kathleen~I have just found you. I've been playing around with Junk Journaling.....for about 2 years now. And I've grown to really enjoy it. Your videos are so helpful....you explain things so well~your organized......and your work is beautiful. You are a good teacher.....and I will continue to watch your videos. Thank you!!! Blessings..... Nancy
I nearly cried when you covered up the cute illustration instead of the boring lined paper! 😆. We all see things different. Your journals are always beautiful!
I’ve been getting tired of flipping through my idea books and making more books to hold the ideas. And to take the idea and place in the book to see how full the book will be I feel is a genius idea! Thank you for sharing! Have a fabulous day and fun creating! AKA Arlene
Beautiful gifts from Sandi! I have ideas books that I rarely open because they’re not convenient to use. I have admired your pouch system for quite awhile, so I need to reorganise myself as it is very usable and not bulky to store. Kathleen, I love how you are so creative yet systematic in how you think and work. My brain really tunes into your way of journal making! Thank you! 😀💞
I’m glad to hear this Keryn - you’ve been a faithful supporter for a long time, haha, so there must be something between us that connects. - I’m very glad for that. I hope you’ll try this. I find it really helpful.
Kathleen, your organization skills are wonderful. I use old cardboard flats but this way keeps everything neat. Your journal is turning out wonderful. I like fixing the envelopes and mailing. That way the USPS does the grunging for you. It’s like getting change back. 😃
Love the idea of decorated idea book to flip through but the pocket idea is awesome! Such a great idea to sift through templates and place in a journal where you would like it. Fabulous idea, Kathleen! TY for sharing that.
My pleasure Chris! It’s working really well for me. Having the templates be blank is also a plus. It helps me visualize the possibilities for the current project. Thanks for watching!
I really like the idea of having your templates in the pocket pouch. I do have an idea book with lots of samples in it and I will do mass makes and have multiples to choose from but my books often get too chunky. I like that having your templates gives you a good idea of how thick your book is going to be before it is all glued in. Thanks for sharing!
If I see something on UA-cam I send a link to myself. That way it reminds me of what I found interesting. Sometimes I take a screen shot of something I want to remember.
I am yet to keep anything related to ideas and this was a very helpful video! You are a great teacher Kathleen! Keeping a pouch is an amazing idea!! Would love to see such and more organizing/planning videos ❤️❤️❤️🤗
If only there was a simple way ... l have pinterest folders, instagram folders, books of ideas, boxes of stuff, l even started an alphabetical book of ideas ... And now l have given up trying 😂. I do like your idea of putting the templates in the book to see how much you need. I sometimes make the ephemera before making the book in which case l already know how wide l need the spine. It all keeps us busy 😂. Looking forward to seeing your design team project 🤩. Thanks, Kathleen, for showing your ideas 🤩
Kathleen, I have tried different methods over the years, such as keeping my notes and samples in a notebook, and sometimes lists on my iPad and I’ve taken pictures of my work. Sometimes I’ve kept samples in containers or pouches with similar work. I’ve been wanting to make an idea book, but I’m not really sure that it will be as helpful as I want. I think I like the idea of keeping samples and/or patterns in pouches with similar work best. Thanks for sharing. I love some of your ideas! 😃❤️
I think I actually started with a simple list of things that I understood, liked “a patch pocket with a thumb notch.” Haha, that didn’t last long, so then I tried the notebook and on it went. It’s a process isn’t it? Thanks so much for your thoughts and history - I appreciate your watchtime!
I just discovered your channel and am having a ball binge watching. You’ve inspired me to use the pouch method, so I’m off to my craft room to give it a go. Your work is beautiful and creative! Thank you for the inspiration!
I started an idea book but never use it. Maybe if it was actually finished as a journal it would work for me. Usually if I need an idea I'll look through some of my previously made journals. I like your idea of sticking the pocket templates in the book to get an idea of how much it will fill it up. What wonderful happy mail. Love those books ❤.
I also have a few journals on my shelf to look through, but I usually now just reach for this pouch. Thanks so much for your thought Evie! Yes, Sandy is a doll, isn’t she. I’m a lucky girl.
I like this pouch idea a lot, Kathleen. I currently use an idea book and same here, outta sight - outta mind! I also like the fact that putting the templates where you might like to put them allows you to judge how thick the final book will be! Thank you, I will give it a try! And what a lovely and thoughtful Happy mail!
I love this idea and made a pocket pouch for myself and am populating it with your pocket ideas. I also made a pouch for tags and another one for bits and bobs! Excellent idea!!!
Go for it! I do think creating an idea in an actual book or journal really has appeal, I just don’t remember to get it out to look, haha. Thanks so much for stopping in.
Thank you for walking thru your process. It is always really nice to get different ideas and find smoother processes! Such a gorgeous journal you are working on! Hugs 🤗❤️
Hi Kathleen, this is a wonderful idea. I have not been organized at all. I save UA-cam videos with ideas i like, but my samples are scattered around. I think I’ll make or find a pouch and start tucking them in that!
I have the most beautiful idea book, but like you forgot to go to it. I love your pouch idea and being able to put them in where you think they might go. Thanks for this
I have one of my junk journals that I put my favorite ideas in (sample pockets, etc.) I also have a chunky little notebook that I use to list ideas and to write-out directions for some of the ideas.
Hi Kathleen, nice to see and hear you again. Summer has been busy and I've missed lots of videos. I started saving samples of ephemera in a notebook and write details, sizes, explanations for each one.on the page. That worked for a while, but like you, if it's not in front of me, I sometimes forget about it. I think I might try the pouch idea. Or maybe use a box, like one of your other viewers suggested. I use a lot of boxes (preferably see through) for storing extra ephemera and the ability to "flip" through items is helpful. Hope you have had a good summer.😁❤
I really like the idea of a box, Jeanne, although it would take up more room, haha. I don’t have a lot of horizontal space - like everyone I would guess. thanks so much for stopping by and spending some of your time here. I’m glad you’ve had a great summer.
I love this idea! I am the same way...I took all of the patterns out of my idea book because I wasn't using them and put them standing up in a shoebox 😊. TYFS Kathleen! ❤
Kathleen, do you have a tutorial on making all theses templates to put in my “pouch”? If not, would you consider that? Tysm! Love love love your channel! So inspiring and helpful!
I do have tutorials on many of these ideas Mimi - just check out the “Pocket Patterns” playlist. I will keep making videos with the templates in the pouch, so I hope you’ll come back often. Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for sharing - love your pouch idea!! Would you be willing to go over what you have in your pouch ? I need to come up with a system as I am getting stuff lost ! Thanks
Many of the templates are already in my pocket patterns playlist or in a journal flip through. Others are coming up, another one this next week. Thanks for hanging around with me Tracy.
I made an idea journal awhile back and realized I wasn’t putting stuff in it after awhile I kind of forgot about it so I made a new one with only my Tim holtz paper and I use it all the time
Interesting Melissa - maybe I just needed a prettier book. I do think we gravitate towards our favorite elements over and over. At least I do. Thanks so much for watching.
I don’t use an idea book but it’s a great idea. I’m a craftroom nightmare. I think I’m organized and then 30 minutes later it’s like a Tasmanian devil just ran through the workshop and it’s a total casualty lol. I’ve made templates and then I use them and it’s not a template anymore. I need to enrol in a craftroom organization for the lost causes :-)
Haha - well, you have a good attitude about it after all. Organization is a real challenge for all of us, to be honest. It’s part of what we do. My husband thinks “it’s like trying to organize the dump!” BTW, the problem you describe about using the template is also tempting for me. That’s why I typically make my templates out of file folder, so that I have to create an actual element instead of using the template. Yeah - it’s understandable, haha.
I made a folio with a 3 inch spine. It has sections, and pockets, and tucks to stuff prototypes into. It’s jammed now so I’ve had to make a Kathleen folder and a Cori folder. I’m thinking I need to put all tags together, all tucks together, all pockets together to just get some organization. It may be easier for me to just line each type of example in an open box to flip through. 🙆🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
It sounds great Dawn, but I know whatever we use fills up, right? Someone else here says a shoebox works. It sounds like it would, but it would be another thing on the table, haha.
This is brilliant and I'm going to use this method (along with many MANY of your decorating ideas) going forward. Like you, I have "idea notebooks" that are in various places, but I forget to refer to them. The pocket pouch idea makes much more sense to me and seems so much more accessible. Thank you SO much for sharing your wonderful ideas so freely with us! - Trudy @ JournalJourneys51

I hear ya LeeAnn, haha! I wanted it to fold better, hah! Thanks for watching!
Hi Kathleen, I usually take a photo of an idea and save it on my desktop into a file labelled junk journal ideas, then I can refer back to them.
That’s a great way Debbie! I also have a file of screenshots!
I’ve been getting tired of flipping through my idea books and making more books to hold the ideas. And to take the idea and place in the book to see how full the book will be I feel is a genius idea! Thank you for sharing! Have a fabulous day and fun creating! AKA Arlene

Big Momma is the best! Her happy mail always goes above and beyond!!
She certainly is the best!
@@BeAgainBooksyes I agree!!
That pouch is worth its weight in gold! Lovely happy mail. I love the blessing too!
Yes! Thank you Sheryl, it is actually! Sandy Moore really is a blessing. Thanks for coming by.
I usually make a picture with my phone if I see a good idea and then forget about it hehe. I need an idea book! Thanks for this!
Yes! I know we all try some kind of system, and it usually doesn’t work for us. What a challenge! Thanks for watching.
Big Momma is a bundle of sweetheart 💕 great ideas I have taken away from this video. I'm a bundle of unorganized mess and need these ideas😂
She certainly is! Thanks so much for your time today! I hope this helps a little.
