-2 pieces of fabric measuring 10" x 14" (front and back main fabric)
-1 piece of fabric measuring 10" x 14" (pocket section)
-1 piece of Pellon Fusible Fleece or batting measuring 10" x 14"
- 2 pieces of any ribbon measuring 15"
- iron/ironing board
- pins
- scissors
- rotary cutter + mat
- rulers
- safety pin (optional)
- coordinating thread
- sewing machine
Great little homemade gift, easy to make. And props to the instructor, very clear, succinct, got to the point. I made one change, for the pocket I sewed it right sides together and turned it wrong side in, pressed and sewed to the panel. No need to worry about the inside seem being upside down and catching the seam when inserting.
Thank you for your precise instructions. To make it even easier, for the pocket I didn't seam it or pre-sew it. I just folded it in half and placed the raw edges along with the bottom raw edges and sandwiched it between the top piece and the bottom quilted piece and sewed everything together at once, along with the ribbon, which I made out of the contrasting pocket material. Also, I made it taller so I could fold down the top flap covering the brushes before rolling it.
Virginia O'Malley I also did the slots before I attached my back piece so my stitching wouldn't go all the way through.
I don’t know if you ever look at the comments anymore but this is so awesome I am making some of these for my daughter-in-law’s for Christmas! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us how to do this
I was very impressed with your Tutorial.
How refreshing you are. Keep up the great work!!!!
From a 62 year old grandma, love your TOOS!!!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
8/26/22: I've seen quite a few tutorials on this project, but this is by far the best; very simple, explained well and there's no way I can miss. Thank you, Vanessa.
i just finished making one of these. a tip* when you are done doing the big poket make sure that u start making the pocket openings for your paintbrushes first! 2:48 because if u dont and do the step at last like she did, the stitching fron the paintbrush pokets will show on the outside.... great video i loved it you inspired me
Thank you! I've been looking for one of these tutorials for my crochet hooks and knitting needles.
Thank you so much...I still continue to make these periodically.
Not only are you a gifted teacher, but your tutorials don't bring on motion sickness like so many I've seen. Love it!!
I am going to make a longer version for my knitting needles! This is so helpfull!!
I love the way you explain it! So clear! Especially saying "the pretty side" versus "right side", which, even though I know what it means, takes a few seconds to actually mentally process what that means
your tutorial was amazing. simple, clear and easy to follow!
I'm making my 6th one of these today! I gave them as gifts, now everyone wants them! I found cheap makeup brushes at the dollar store (for a dollar each) and put four different ones in each, so when giving them they get full effect. Hope your getting rest and feeling better!
Clear and simple for a beginner like me, thank you. I will base my artist's pencils & brushes roll on your tutorial.
what a great idea and a cute gift for teenagers just starting out using makeup or for my granddaughter's paint brushes!!
thanks
I've always wanted to make one of these but never understood the written tutorials. Now I understand! :D Thanks for the help.
I've made several of these now and I love your tutorial 💕
Yea! I made one for a crochet co-worker of mine an she love this cute little gift. Know I'm making my grandma and I one using some very pretty fabrics... Thanks Vanessa
:)
Thanks for the super easy tutorial I just made this and it was done successfully!
Thanks! Glad to help. You can do everything exactly the same... just adjust it for the size of the crochet hook when you get ready to sew the slots down. Put the crochet hook in place, leaving a little room on each side and then gauge how much you need to leave for each pocket. Hope that helps!
Excellent video, clear, concise and no loud music putting you off 😃
Thanks! Packing for holiday and thought I needed one. Was about to buy it but thanks to this found some random fabric offcuts, used stiffer interfacing as no fleece to hand and whipped up a stylish black brush holder in an hour. £15 +p&p saved as I was about to press buy xx
Clear, concise, interesting. Finally a hint of the old Threadbanger quality. Can't wait to see more!
I like the way you talk and the project was great and very instructive.
thank you and wellcome to the channel :)
Yay a tutorial for a knitting needle carrier, this will come in handy when I finally get my sewing machine fixed.
grest video Vanessa , congradulations on being a part of threadbanger , you are awesome
Dude, she rocks!! She didn't stumble ane everything's so clear and great!!
You make this so easy with your instructions. Love watching your tutorials. Hands-down best teacher. This bag came out so cute
Excellent, this is the cool threadbanger back, even with a new crafter to learn from.
new paint brush carrier! awesome!
Thank you for this video. You explain things so simply. And everything you do is pretty, too.
Really great tutorial! I liked that you mentioned ironing between a few of the steps. When I first began sewing my projects would come out all lumpy and.. just terrible. I later realized it was mostly because I did not iron during the process. So again great work!
Crafty Gemini, I made this today and followed your directions exactly-mine came out perfect! Thank you. Also, watch your channel and still love my slouchy crochet hat! 💃🏻
My daughter and I have made so many of these as gifts and have been asked by friends and family to make them one too. Love making them. Easy to follow tutorial. We make ties using the same fabric and prefer this option to the ribbon but that's just our opinion! :-).
I love the way you talked about the processes and the visuals were great. the tips and reminders were timely to the process as well. This is not for someone who is unfamiliar with a sewing machine but it is a perfect learning project after someone has played with the basics of a machine. this was one splendid tutorial. Thank you. ; )
easy and practical, and you have a great narrating voice.
Am a beginner sewer and will make this for a xmas present. You did a fantastic job on making everything so clear and easy to follow, do_able!
Thank you for this awesome tutorial!, I looked on UA-cam for tutorials for this makeup brush holder, and yours was the best and easiest to follow!
Such an AWESOME tutorial, especially for beginners like myself. Thank you, great job!! :)
Excellent video, explained very simply, but still interesting.
Loved the simple instructions, very easy to follow. Thanks for posting! :)
Loved this! The only thing I changed was sewing in the lines for the brushes b4 sewing up the outside piece and then sewing some strategic tacks to reinforce & strengthen outside to inside pieces. I used contrasting thread and didnt hv thread to match outside piece well to quilted stitches and color of fabric.
That is so creative! I love it!
I love this and have made it many times, I wondered if you have printable instructions as I don't always have wifi/computer access and sometimes want a reminder if I havn't made it for a while. Thanks for the youtube instructions so easy to follow and successful every time I have made it
Not sure.. you'd have to try it and see.. I've never used it for this project but it wouldn't hurt to try!
@Poorstargazer23 sounds like a plan! Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the tute.
Such a fantastic idea!
Great video, thank you! very well explained!
@AnnaJeanArt I was thinking on similar lines. Very well explained tutorial.
Very Cute! A perfect combination of my crafting and make-up interests.
Really cool.
Instead of using it for makeup brushes I'd use it for my crochet hooks :D
Very nice .... I'll try to do it. Greetings from Rome !
Me gustó, trataré de hacerlo..Gracias.Saludos desde México.
I made a darts case for my daughter - really clear instructions thank you!!
I just followed today, cause I've watched some videos and noticed that I LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM lol but thanks so much , ill make this for my sister :D

Art supplies! This would be great with the inside bits made of that waterproof coated fabric for easy clean-up.
Welcome to the TB family! This tutorial is really nifty, I think I'll do it, but make it bigger to use for my paintbrushes :)
You do such wonderful tutorials. I don't know a hoot about sewing but I love watching your tutorials and look forward to learning how to make new things. Thank you for sharing - have a super weekend! :)
loveee this! cant wait to try it
Such an easy tutorial to follow! Thanks so much xx
Thanks! I did the stitching last on purpose so it would add more body to the pockets otherwise the weight of the brushes will make the pocket part lift away from the backing... but either way will work.. just a matter of preference.
Sweet, functional, customizable AND machine washable! :D Me likey
I love that idea!
thank you for this! I need something to put my makeup brushes in for travel and whatnot. I'll definitely need to make one of these before my next trip

THANKS YOU MAKE THINGS SO EASY LOVE THIS TUTORIAL
Great tutorial. The case can also be used to hold knitting needles, crochet hooks or colour pencils =]
You always post great videos
@TheLaydewlf I think its so that the front and back layers are fully connected. Otherwise, if you pinched both layers in the centre and pulled them apart, they would kinda separate :)
Chulísimo tutorial. Muchísimas gracias por compartirlo. Estupenda explicación. Gracias, y me he subscrito a tu canakl.
Thanks for this upload I know how to do it now 😊
@tigeritzabeefu Definitely! Color pencils, markers, etc...
