    Figured out that K9 sells their bags on Amazon, so you can hit up the description for links to all of their products!
    Yes, they're affiliate links (no added cost to you!) 😊

    Hi Ben, I recently bought one of these k9 backpacks from my neighbour. Their dog has out grown it and I bought it from them. My husband and I would go for rides, me on my ebike and my husband on his mobility scooter. We love going places and sometimes would be out for 3/4 hours. Our eldest son would be at home whilst we went on these long rides but we would always feel guilty that our dog wasn't with us. Our son would entertain him but then our dog would want his dad and I lol. We didn't think about a backpack for him, infact we never knew they existed until we saw our neighbours dog in his! Now that we have one, once the weather improves, we're going out as a family! He loves going out but as we love to go places and at a speed we know he can't keep up with, the backpack is going to come in really handy! I can't wait! I've told his dad, when I get tired of him being on my back he can strap him onto the front of himself and he can enjoy the ride on the scooter! Thanks so much for this vlog.I have the k9 pack with the a bag attached to the front of it. When our neighbour told us the price he paid for it we were shocked but he sold it to us for a good price and we are more than happy 😊. Thanks again and sending you hugs from London UK 🇬🇧
    Edited..I have a shih tzu who weighs 10kg that's before he's eaten lool. The size we have is a Large.

    Nice detailed video: I have had 2 types of carriers for my dog when i ride my motorcycle here in the Philippines and both failed on me. 1. is a fairly sturdy dog backpack and there other is one of those front backpacks where the dog dangles (Kind of like one you see baby's carried in). The problem is nobody (or few) make anything of quality material. My dog fell out of both. 1. The front carrier Velcro came undone and zipper slid down luckily he was connected to the harness clip. I fixed this by having a tailor add buttons to the existing Velcro, but it still has other issues including balance and as my 2lb Chihuahua became 6 pounds it just isn't safe to even carry a dog in now. The sturdy leather/cardbored type carrier is bulky and fits him fine but it has zippers on both sides and one for the dog to stick his head out the space ship capsule type view for the dog. For these types of things I think fewer possible failure points the better So im a fan of 1 entrance/exit point.
    On a busy street i was riding my Fiido ebike on i got a rapid flat front tire my handle bars yanked to the left and i flipped over the bike going about 20mph with my Buddy in the backpack. I assumed he was in the bag so took it off and looked and it was empty and my dog was staring at me from the middle of the street. (Luckily he was unhurt - Note: The cheap harness clip broke and zipper came open so 2 failures at one time).. I think the k9 sack is the best (Saftey wise) that i have found in my research so i will get this for when i carry him walking, or maybe some rides. Chinese makers and poor designers and low cost material are littered on amazon and simlar sites and because PETS are not considered the same as HUMANS the standards are low and would never be acceptable if humans where carried in them, Most of the motorcycle mount carriers (That secure to back seat or sissy bar of motorcycle sort of like a duffle bag) seem to have flaws that don't suit my needs. They are very expensive and are made for huge motorcycles but I ride around on a scooter 125cc. So weather i order one of those or not there is going to be modifications needed (Can I call your mom?) so I figure i'll go find a high quality duffle bag or some kind of bag that will allow me to modify it to be safe and suite my dogs needs. Add D rings to it and make it able to strap it to my rear seat.. I might even save money, but just need to source a good sewer. Maybe upholstery shop or perhaps some tailors will have skills and ideas to customize a bag for me. Safety is my #1 priority with this bag given my past experience im very paranoid now and id rather just spend the time to make a custom bag for my dog that exceeds existing safety standards found in other bags. On that note I'll be buying the K9 Sports Sack Air 2 because its a good body carry bag for my dog, the other one I suspect will take many hours for me to design/source and have customized..

    Loved this video, super in depth! I'm stuck between this style and the more rigid-y carrier sort of backpacks. My dog suffers from reactivity issues, and I'd like to make sure whatever we get him can handle that. Can this handle a bit of an outburst from a 12-15lb dog?

  • @samanthab5006
    @samanthab5006 2 роки тому

    We use this when walking/hiking more than 3 miles with our Cavs. Also at outdoor festivals and airports. They can go closer to 6 miles comfortably with a break every 2 miles or so. I will say though that I think they prefer being carried as when we go let them out they just lay down on it and look at us.

    Thanks for this. Perfect video for me because I'm looking to use a K9 backpack for my mini schnauzer too! He's 28lbs so should be good to go - he may have to lay off some of the treats tho!

      Haha glad to help out! Just a few less treats... or a bit more running beside you while you bike (he can rest in the bag, too haha)!

    I’ve bought cheaper versions of this style that didn’t use sturdy material and my 22lb French bulldog didn’t feel secure on my back, didn’t even bother to try riding. I’ll give k9 a try and keep you guys posted

      We were also tempted by the cheaper options but I would say going with the brand name one in this case is great 🤷‍♂️ again, no affiliation with them or kickbacks.. just an opinion.
      Actually, as a matter of fact we recently switched to a trailer because Kasper is getting older - so now he has a chariot 😜

    Many of us have reached out to K9 to get a waist strap on models like these. K9, 2 years later, refuses to do it. So now I'm also having to take mine to a seamstress to get a belt sewn on. Ridiculous.

    • @BenDurham

      He was hesitant at first and it might take a few days for your dog to get used to it. It could be the sounds that it's making or the smell of the factory, etc. I'm not sure if this has ever been recommended anywhere else but maybe putting the bag near their bed for the next week to get them used to it? Or something?
      Just takes some time and patience :)

    I have two K9 trainers, different color, the bags are well made, goof material, but there's a major issue, probably with my Chihuahua (9.7 kgs) only, he tends to hang her head, and there's no way to avoid this, so I am thinking in buying the Kurgo G-Tain backpack.

    • @rachaelwright1847
      @rachaelwright1847 Місяць тому

      I have the kurgo and am going to try one of these. The kurgo is relatively heavy even when empty, and the way it carries means the dog is far away from your body and the weight feels heavier. Plus the dog is facing backwards, which my pup doesn't like. Just food for thought!

      @@rachaelwright1847 Thank for the info, yes I saw it in Petco, it is heavy and I also dont like the fact the dog is facing backwards, I just saw the littlechonk backpack, it has a kind of head support that will prevent my dog from hanging his head. Thanks again.

    • @BenDurham
      @BenDurham  11 місяців тому +1

      Apparently yes but I definitely get your concern! Especially with our upright bikes.
      Debatably, these backpacks would work better with more stereotypical, agressive bikes (like road bikes where you're pretty bent over).

    • @Uncool-vn5vz

      @@BenDurham Thanks for the reply. After a bit of digging, I’ve found that these unnatural stances for our dogs isn’t the best for their spine. The ones where they can stay horizontally (natural stance) is the safest. Harder with bikes, but might be worth installing a frame to support their bags.

    • @juicys_gametime
      @juicys_gametime 10 місяців тому

      Surely not good for a dogs spine to get carried like that for more than a few minutes. They can't move and are forced into one position. Not okay.
