Brilliant video. It was so good to listen to the old railwaymen. If only the viaducts and trackbed had been protected, the Larkhall line could have been extended to Stonehouse and Strathaven.
Super documentary thanks for posting, I get the feeling that the story of the Lanarkshire coalfields are being ether ignored or air brushed from history.
Great video. I remember Larkhall having two stations, Larkhall Central and Larkhall East. My memory is that Larkhall East was wooden. Looked like something out of “High Noon”.
Really interesting video. I was brought up in Carluke so could sort of overlook the line. Thanks for posting. Tilllietudlem is one of my favourite Scottish names.
A good film, made in 1997. Fortunately the reopening of the line as far as Larkhall, discussed in the last part of the film, was funded and was carried out, with all three new stations referred to. In 2019 the service is well-established and there are new trains.

Thanks for doing this film. Great. I've lived in Lanarkshire the last 30 years and really enjoyed all aspects of this film.
Most interesting. Many thanks for posting this.

I was brought up in Rigside I used to hang around Coalburn a great bunch of lads there
See at 4:58 is that the Lesmahagow viaduct ??
Thats the nethan viaduct. You can walk along the old railway to it from blackwood.
Cool
Hi, was this narrated by Jim Hamilton? Very fond of coalburn. Great stuff...
Brilliant
Wonder how many health and safety officers had near death experiences watching the viaduct being demolished
