Great performance! I appreciate your revivals lately of your older Alkan repertoire. Your tempo and technique are unrelenting! And, again, like in your most recent performance of Le Preux, I prefer your use of pedal here during the "bien chante" sections of this piece. Also, what a curious idea for an etude! Alkan's vivid text painting here is so typical of his creativity! Thanks, too, for your very interesting background notes in the description. (I wish I could one day be as "lazy" as you in my piano practice, haha.)
You're incredible. The dedication of this all is amazing. I'd be happy to buy you a new microphone as someone suggested so link me a paypal if ya want. Nonetheless, the mic quality - it's absolutely fine
You’re like Yui Morishita. It’d be nice to see the grand virtuoso MA Hamelin doing justice to pieces such as this, Scherzo Focoso, Comme Le Vent, or Le Preux; he refuses to play them for some reason. It’d be interesting to hear you play Alkan’s grand sonata, Liszt’s Paganini 4b etude @ full tempo as many people expected, or Liszt’s S253 at full tempo like Pletnev plays in the rarity of a fragment available on youtube. Always a great performance, and arguably one of Alkan’s greatest solo written etudes.
yui morishita is much much better. rather i have had a hard time finding someone as amazing as yui morishita. also this guy probably cant play etude 4b, considering he cant play this perfectly
Lol it's impossible to play that etude in full tempo! I bet even Liszt or Alkan couldn't even play at THE FULL tempo. Maybe they could do it almost 80% or over. Maybe. Well, dk
@@pleasecontactme4274 There isn't a specific tempo indication on 4b, however, it's implicit that it's intended to represent the first caprice. Due to this, one can play the piece at whatever tempo around that as they wish. Performer's discretion.
It is great that there is a daring in all youtube that is dedicated to work really complex pieces that are lost between the typical concerts and sonatas, that although it will always be incredible to listen to the Tchaikovsky 1, it is terrible that this type of material is left aside. First of all let me congratulate you from pianist to pianist, if you allow me I would love to make a recommendation that I am sure you would like to address for the type of material you post on your channel, I am talking about the "clabisembalisticum" of the great Sorabji, more than 4 hours of music and one of the most overwhelming readings I've seen in my life, please take some time to look for it. A greeting and a hug!
What book is this score from? If you could let me know the publisher and title I’d appreciate it. Dover? Schirmer? Utext? Also, would this piece be in a book of his etudes (is it an etude?) or in a book with an assortment of Alkan works, or is it a movement of a larger piece?
Not bad... But there are many places in which the groups of 4 semiquavers sound more like rolled chords than semiquavers. That's a shame, I think you could have done better than this.
4candles - Byways of Classical Music Yes I’m playing a lot, I don’t really have time to record right now, and I also have some technical problems with recordings, which should be solved relatively soon (I hope)
@TheFakeViRuZz I'm busy doing many other recordings actually, you can find them on Spotify (and other platforms): I'm Aldo Roberto Pessolano. I haven't been publishing music played by me on youtube mainly because when I record stuff I do it for Spotify now, and I get paid (while obviously, on youtube I never was). The only Alkan pieces I recorded since are 2 Esquisses... Unfortunately, I have to put many popular things if I want to hope to have any listeners. The album in which I put those 2 Alkan pieces, which was an experiment with several less common pieces, got literally 1% of the streams of any of the other albums that I published (about 300 streams vs 30k+ streams in my other albums), so I think you can understand that it really isn't worth it for me to record this kind of music. I might only decide to include just a couple less common pieces like this one, and/or publish things for free on youtube every once in a while, after all I still enjoy this kind of music, but it's not easy to find the time to record everything that people request to me (and trust me this is not the only request I got lol). Anyway, often I publish unlisted videos on my channel and I share them in my Discord server, because sometimes I make a video and I don't think the video is good enough or is appropriate at all to be public, and these videos include some requests I got from the discord, such as the first movement of Alkan's Symphony, Alkan Quasi-Caccia, and many others. If you're interested you can find my Discord under any of my videos. This is my video of Alkan's Quasi-Caccia by the way: ua-cam.com/video/GWpcXKD1LFQ/v-deo.html If you see it you might understand why I decided to not publish it, it was recorded about probably not even 1 or 2 hours of study.
I've been waiting for better quality for 12 years. Wow
YES. MORE ALKAN NEVER STOP UPLOADING
Your technique is absolutely insane
15 notes a second?!?!

Well now there is an S.253

What happened to your video of you playing Alkan op. 39 no. 11?? That was also wonderful performance!
