thanks JB i did find THEMOVE in applepodcast...going on the road and didn't want to miss out on you and Johan..you guys have a great chemistry and one of the most informative podcast about sports ..thanks again !!
I think if Dos Equis is watching, George with the beard looks an awful lot like the "most interesting man in the world." Keep the beard and "stay thirsty my friend..."
Disk brakes are heavy. They don't make sense unless your riding in wet weather or descending at extreme speed and weigh a lot. Otherwise I believe rim brakes are best...isn't Egan riding rim brakes in the tour?
Greetings from Luxembourg guys! :) I have one question, I dont get my head around one thing, why does no one has Emmanuel Buchmann on the list to win the Tour? See you in the DOUCHES!!! Keep up the great work guys :)
Great idea with the virtual distance for the finish of the stages! There are other sports that implement this technology including the 2-hour marathon attempts. Who will be first to do this for Cycling? Eurosport?
hey lance, I wanted to let you know, the whole having those circles on top of the riders are already being done by Tour de France tv. not sure what broadcast NBC is showing maybe US does not see Tour de France official markings. but if you watch international , they showed the names and circle signs above the heads in top view as you suggested. I was surprised when you said you just thought of it, because I had seen it on Tour de France before. :)
The virtual 400m, 300m, etc line is a great idea... funny George mentions "or if it's downhill". He had a victory taken away after winning a downhill sprint in Tour DuPont.
I discovered this channel last year and really liked it because it was an expert, insider's perspective. Now there's very little of that. Instead they discuss swear jars, bike towing, beard shaving, grandstand masking, and virtual overlays. It's entertaining. But it's not what drew me to this channel. I would think they could have discussed how teams function on rides like this, what the directors were doing, more discussion on equipment choices, how injuries from the earlier falls were impacting different riders and how teams were adjusting to injuries, nutrition and fueling strategies racers use, what the accommodations are and how they impact rest/recovery, the apparent camaraderie between the guys on the breakaways, the display of power on the climbs by Perez and how they stacked up against his performance on the earlier stages. I did like the comments on the sprint where it was described not so much as strategy but intuition that kicks in in the moment. And the bit about how a potential headwind at the finish resulted in so many lead changes was good.
Voice of reason Hincapie...thanks for mentioning about Pérez. Wasn't sure how you guys were going to address that..... I can't imagine how that must feel, all that hard work and game over. Digging the bike shots in the Pelotan and do feel they should have yellow line across finish line for viewers. Thanks guys, can't wait for action to start! Sorry Hincapie, 🐻 beardsgottago!
Awesome Idea. And you could have a countdown marker on the bottom the screen. 5,4,3,2,1,50 Meters Final! It could be sponsored AND could be used for every point. Sprints & Mountains! Trademark that shit Lance! Love the show!
How about some low tech yardage lines on the road (like the NFL). Maybe one every 10 yards starting at 200 then every 5 inside of 50, something like that.
4:07, disc brakes ARE superfluous for road riding. Not needed, its only marketing. Rim brakes are far more aerodynamic and easier to maintain. Lance, your the only pro rider (former) I've heard speak positivity about disc.
go lance. NFL The yellow first-down line. Since the late 1990s, the virtual yellow line has been quietly enhancing football broadcasts by giving viewers a live, intuitive guide to the state of play.
Hey lance and George considering alot of uneventful luck and circumstances.Do you think the riders are complaining to much when it comes to the elements and conditions of the race?
I have in the previous years enjoyed the show. However, I feel that this year is too focused on commercials and discussion around the TDF, instead of focussing on insider knowledge and comprehensive analysis about the stages.
Good idea for the swearing, my kids are always laughing and pretending they’re shoked when you swear ( about every 5mn, which is not that bad) And excellent french accent! ( I’m french) Always been and will always be an « fan » of the 7 Tour de France winner!!!
All of you interested about Peter Sagon strength. He is older he has lost some of that power but he is still going to motor through the tour and be better place than any other rider, or any other sprinter that is. Peter for the Green
I agree with Lance's comments about the KOM jersey, but to say 'there is only one jersey' is a slap in the face to all the amazing sprinters. Riders who could leave Lance in their dust during a fast sprint. But yes the KOM is a bit contrived, look at Virenque's 'victories' to get the picture.
Thanks for another episode. Do you think Ineos not appearing as cool, calm and collected as in previous years could be linked to Nicolas Portal no longer being there? Would be super interested to hear yours and Johan's take on this. Best from Germany, Jule (if you want to avoid having to spell out my youtube nick ;))
I don't know I think Ineos look fine atm. The commentators on ITV have been saying they are just using different main road captains on different stages for protecting Bernal. No need to have all the rest of the team hammering up on the front to keep him safe. Anyway, we're only at stage 3, gonna have to wait for the big mountain stages to see where Ineos really are.
@@06alepea1 Oh, I completely agree. I wasn't just talking Tour de France but also the hoopla in selecting the team. I mean it wasn't a surprise to me that Froome simply was not fit enough yet. But Thomas as well? And then drafting in Carapaz at the last second? They just seem less super-structured and confident.
Good show guies !! I honestly don't think Alaphilippe should keep the jersey today... I see Roglic or Yates for the stage win. Regarding Lance's pick, Quintana is my pick for the GC win, but I think his stomping ground is more a long /hard climb like col de la loze rather than the final climb of today's stage. Dumoulin could also be a legit contender for this stage win. Cheers from France
Lance's idea is great. In addition to the on-bike cameras, the broadcasts need to include many more different camera angles and motion titles to explain the race play-by-play for non-experts like our roadie asses.
With the threat of stopping the race after 10 stages and having a mountain finish on Stage 4 (early - fresh legs), wouldn't you think the top riders would take off with a few kilometers to go (aka Lance) to gain seconds/minutes? It seemed they all waited to the last to go!
Swearing- specifically saying the F-word, better known as FUC***K!!!! lowers your blood pressure- it's so good for you to speak freely- good job Lance! There are a lot of folks who can don't understand that swearing is a way to improve the range of your expression and not meant to be personally offensive. Calling someone a Fing F, which is not too cool, is different than just saying AWWWW F****!!!!! God help all the phony bastards who feign taking offense as if they are not adults and as if they never heard it before!
2009 TDF. HTC Columbia broke it up in crosswinds, Lance got in the small group & George was doing massive pulls for Lance even though they wasn’t on the same team. Proper buddy.
I've Been Riding For 32 Years , a Bike Is a Wonderful Effiency Ride If Ridden Properly , I Wouldn't Mind Riding In The Tour de France .. I Would Try IF i Was Offered The Chance Yes
Ads end at 4:37 and again at 20:00
thanks. Some ads are ok. They have too many.
Thanks
Thanks John
@@GuitarguyRichard56 UA-cam will show ads for them and pay money. They have figured this out
over 4 min of ads is so rough lol
My favorite time of year! I look forward to this every day!!!!!
The reason that George is my favorite cyclist of all time is he seems as easy going as they come!
I’ve never seen such a cut across sprint finish, that was so cool coming from so far back! Love the shows brothers!!
Reminds me of Mark Cavendish during his prime days mate
I agree with the line idea...it makes perfect sense
George's beard looks like it was glued on!
You are the only podcast/video recap I watch after each stage. So happy your in the top 10.
Hey JB thanks for reading from the comment section..means alot to us fans👍👍
Can we have a Photoshop of the Tiger King Lance wearing the Cipolllini skinsuit?
What happened to the Patron of the Day guys ?
Scott Belongie Patron not currently a sponsor
Only one voice providing good commentary on the stage. Keep up the good work George.
They need to superimpose the riders names as they sprint to the finish. It's always hard to tell who is who.
Lance: "the polkadot jersey is just for the sponsors, it should'nt be in the tour." Aaaand here is a product we love and want you to buy"
You could cut the irony with a knife!😂
thanks JB i did find THEMOVE in applepodcast...going on the road and didn't want to miss out on you and Johan..you guys have a great chemistry and one of the most informative podcast about sports ..thanks again !!
Hincapie's beard looks pretty good.
But is it aero?
Looks like a 1974 G.I. Joe.
But he wears his headphones backwards.
for a hobo lol
He was always fairly handsome. Picked up his french wife on the tour, she was an hostess.
Great show, humorous informative, and great recap of TdF
I think if Dos Equis is watching, George with the beard looks an awful lot like the "most interesting man in the world." Keep the beard and "stay thirsty my friend..."

Have wind direction alongside the yellow line 👍🏻
This is pure gold
Add wind direction and speed too.
Awesome, looking forward to the rest of the TDF comments
Greetings from Luxembourg guys! :) I have one question, I dont get my head around one thing, why does no one has Emmanuel Buchmann on the list to win the Tour? See you in the DOUCHES!!! Keep up the great work guys :)
Like the yellow line idea, don't think it has to be the overhead shot to work. Still works for the head-on shot IMO.
Great idea with the virtual distance for the finish of the stages!
There are other sports that implement this technology including the 2-hour marathon attempts. Who will be first to do this for Cycling? Eurosport?
Can't see the jersies from overhead. Gotta have the money shot of the team logo crossing the finish line.
@@irvhh143 you can do it from the "money shot"

What a nerd
There havin fun dude....go back to your Pokemon game and vegan food..lol
Show starts 4:38
9:30 if they don't do it, I will.
GREAT IDEA!!! They should switch to an overhead shot approaching the last 800m. And give a digital yellow line with a count down!!!
And what was the deal with that person spraying soap on the road in stage one. Super slick.
Voice of reason Hincapie...thanks for mentioning about Pérez. Wasn't sure how you guys were going to address that..... I can't imagine how that must feel, all that hard work and game over. Love Swear jar I want to see Lance fill up jar at some point!! Where does swear fund go to?! 🙏🏾❤️👍🏽
OURA

Love the show! Does JB get to make a win prediction?
Those lines would be such an enhancement Lance. I hope they do it!
Sprint virtual line count down would enhance spectator experience. TdF/ NBC pay attention!
@NBC Sports
The overlaid line is an interesting concept. has merit.
It's 2020, they should be able to do an overhead shot with the finish line distance visible.
6:25 i mean they had two cat 1 climbs on the second stage
Lance - you need to get in on the Vanavermant show, you should be able to show up Whitey proper
Awesome Idea. And you could have a countdown marker on the bottom the screen. 5,4,3,2,1,50 Meters Final! It could be sponsored AND could be used for every point. Sprints & Mountains! Trademark that shit Lance! Love the show!
Today's sprint finish reminded me of the giro stage gaviria won flying past everyone
Would love to see your podcast on PANDORA!
If you can grow a beard like George then you should do it!
Hi Lance. Do you wear the black or stealth versioin of the Oura ring?
Great Podcast ...
How about some low tech yardage lines on the road (like the NFL). Maybe one every 10 yards starting at 200 then every 5 inside of 50, something like that.
Long way to go. Ewen and Bennet will suffer more in the mountains than Sagan. He's saving a little while they sprint their legs off.
4:07, disc brakes ARE superfluous for road riding. Not needed, its only marketing. Rim brakes are far more aerodynamic and easier to maintain. Lance, your the only pro rider (former) I've heard speak positivity about disc.

Or you could just get a can of spray paint and spray a line across the road
To shave, George!
Why isn't JB making a prediction on the stage winner
Let them man predict! Agreed
Lance with the golden idea.
The virtual line technology was perfected years ago by, among others, the America's Cup broadcasters.
totally. They actually had the virtual line yesterday on stage 3 finish line, the Tour de France official broadcast.
Don't mind the ads but change the curtains!

I Love you guys !
I love "the G.I. Joe Beard"!!
J.B for the win!
