Another great video Jonathan....
brilliant yet again
Brilliant footage as per usual....we are nearly at the start of the season again!
Nice! And with a 20 gauge over-under!
first class as always
wow , what good fun you had. Intensive grouse farming at its best
Amazing work
Another great video. Fede
Incredible birds!
The landscape over there is gorgeous and the birds are spectacular! But has the sxs 20 bore gone out of favor in the UK?
Jolly good work
The best hunting in the England
Well done Jonathan another good video, can nearly smell the heather.

I guess this is their version of sporting clays?
Can anyone give me some tips!! I'm going beating on the 12th and I've never done it so can you just give me some tips on what to do so I don't screw it up!
So how did it go?
Splendid day,
I dont follow the thought leading to 'dislike'...?
Why watch the presentation if you're anti field-sports...?
Thank you.
...---It would be hard to mess up a day like that, on film.......

Swindon is an amazing place to shoot at (my dad is a land agent there) but sadly there is no grouse shoot this year but hopefully the next. The pheasants are still on
Some people are experts......using 28 bore for driven Grouse! I would not care to use anything less than 16 bore for this type of shooting. But that is just me. I know my limitations and they get tighter every year. I may have to give-up the 16 for the obnoxious 12 bore.
2:39......It is something to see hunters NOT adorned in Blaze Orange out in the field. But such is the hunting etiquette and safety of the UK. All the more reason for me to book a trip there.
But they have that THING about dressing well for the hunt and I saw mostly Springer Spaniels for the hunt. I used to hunt Springers, but they are limited in their range and longevity. I now hunt with Brittanies. Longer life spans and better noses. Also will pin a bird and let you get within range. Granted, I would take a brace of Springers and a Brittany for a hunt. Springers to flush and retrieve and the Britt to find the birds.
3:07........Expert shot in using a 28 bore on driven Grouse. Better man than me.
4:24.....Rolex watch and high-end shotguns. Too bad he shoots as well as me with a 12 bore. Probably drives a Jag. Old money. Would wipe his eye with my old SxS 16 from Czechoslovakia.
The thing is,.......how many decades have you been out in the woods? And not just one or three weeks in the year. Two to four days a week, month in and out . For five decades.
That is what I have done. In the impoverished game lands of the US. Gambel's Quail, Sharptail Grouse, Blue Grouse, Pheasants, Ruffed Grouse, Bobwhite Quail, European Grouse or Chukars.
Timberdoodles, or what you call American Woodcock. Mallards, Black Ducks, Wood Ducks, Teal. All have fallen to my eye. Notice I said eye and not gun. Gun is only important in range.
5:13 ......sport for well-heeled individuals. As an American,........total cost is about $3400 plus tips for guides, stuffers, and loaders. For two days.
Two days in the UP of Michigan for Ruffed Grouse with guide and dog.......$800 dollars.
Two days in North Dakota on pheasants with guide and dog........................$900 dollars.
Going through customs and dealing with the airlines about my guns,.........not so much fun.
I would have done it in the late 70s , but I didn't have the money then.
Now......too much crap and having to deal with the etiquette of the shoot. I don't have the funds to buy a wool wardrobe just for hunting in your style. Which you MUST have to even show-up for the shoot. "You must respect the traditions of the shoot and the game if you are to contemplate a shoot with us."
Talk about easy shooting

not all shot in October, the heather is a dead giveaway. The ubiquitous Beretta over under, how boring. Why don't they all just go the whole hog and all wear Chairman Mao suits too! For me a nice pair of David McKay Brown round actions in 16 bore would be heaven, a side by side is so much better for driven grouse, ask any loader. Still, great video. Thanks mate
Thanks for your comment Robert. Your actually right, I have messed up my dates on this one, all shot on August 19th at Swinton. The film was first released to Eley in October this our confusion. I'd agree a McKay Brown pair would trump the Beretta for me to but I didn't get to choose on this occasion. I've many many more films coming for this season including grouse shooting with s/s. Thanks for your comment.
Chairman Mao suits ..... hahahaha
....from Canada .............yes, have Dickson round-action.......
Зачем отстреливают живых птиц?Жалко...
It was unfortunate that the only good shooting was by the cameraman, the rest were awful :-(
