  • Laos Biggest Project in History: $6 billion Laos to China Railway
    The multibillion-dollar Laos to China railway, is set to begin operations by the end of the year as scheduled, completing the first link of a long-envisioned rail line connecting southwest China, with Singapore. Boten to Vientiane line, is a 414 kilometers standard gauge electrified railway, under construction in Laos with 94% overall completion rate, connecting the country’s capital Vientiane to Boten, a small town near the border of China.
    On October 15, The Lane Xang Electric Multiple Unit train, arrives at the Laos’ northern border town of Boten, after passing by the China-Laos borderline. The dream of the Lao people, to transform the land-locked country into a land-linked hub in the region is coming true. As the streamlined China-standard bullet train for the China-Laos railway, arrived in Lao capital Vientiane.
    The EMU train, was officially delivered to the Laos-China Railway Company Ltd., a joint venture based in the Lao capital Vientiane. A handover ceremony held in the station, with the attendance of Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong, and Lao Minister of Public Works and Transport Viengsavath Siphandone.
    The extreme nature of the project is reflected in the fact that the line will have 75 tunnels with 198km total length, and 165 bridges with 62km total length, which combine is more than half the length of the entire line.
    With advanced technology, the EMU train set is safe, comfortable and reliable with large passenger capacity but low operating costs, and fully meets the main performance indicators required by the China-Laos railway operation. The train set is painted in the Lao flag colors of red, blue, and white. The interior design integrates elements of traditional Chinese and Lao cultures, embodying the Lao people's vision of a better life and the friendship between the two peoples.

    Happy for Laos. I will definitely take the high-speed train to travel to Laos in the future. The geological conditions of the railway from China to Laos are very complicated. Considering the cost factor, it is more appropriate to build a high-speed railway with a speed of 160 km/h. Long live the friendship between China and Laos. BTW, the railway from Sichuan to Tibet in China (under construction) is probably the most difficult one to build in the world.

      Don't expect to connect to Singapore soon, if ever, it will take many years, maybe 24 or more years. I predict the railway may reach Bangkok and stop there. Money is the main problems.
      There is already a railway from Bangkok to Singapore, but it is a very slow and troublesome trip, have to change train few times, each train change involves long waiting, and also two custom clearance and 4 passport check.
      If you have many luggage, then it will be more trouble

    There is a Chinese saying "To get rich, first build roads". China is a vast country, and very wide and perfect transportation, highways and railroads have been built, both between cities and cities, and between rural areas and rural areas. Undoubtedly, building roads is definitely a hundred benefits and no harm, one investment, tens of thousands of people profit, and last for hundreds of years. Without transportation, rural people can not go out, urban people can not enter the countryside. Only with the development of transportation can we promote communication, trade and prosperity! The people of Laos will surely have a more convenient, efficient and prosperous life!

    As a Chinese I'm really happy that this HSR has been completed. It's a fortune for both peoples. Laotian people can travel to China much easier than before, and vice-versa for Chinese people. Once you arrive in China, you would realize that Chinese aren't that different from SE Asians. Especially in Southern China we still have many Tai-Kradai ethnic groups and their language is very similar to Laotian and Thai. Northern China is more different though, but would still offer some amazing travel experiences, the Great Wall, the Gobi desert, and the never-ending grasslands.

    It doesn't matter what's peoples opinions. Are the laotians happy? Are they enjoy whatever china is bringing to their country? If they answer yes. That's not the third party business. . Anything in this world need to pay to get it. Chinese and laotian love affair dont need anyone to be jelous or stick the nose in. The end of the day, it's still better than invasion and war. To be honest, no one care about Laotian before the chineses are trying to develop Lao's country.

      The Lao Train is just 160 km/hrs. but Indonesia is 300 km/hrs., that is the different. Lao is Medium Speed Train, but Indonesia is High Speed Train. This is uncomparable. So the first HSR in Asean is Indonesia. Lao and Indonesia are finace and build everything by China but Thailand finace and build by themself.China just Design and Provide the train.

    • @user-dj3lo4iw2f
      @user-dj3lo4iw2f 2 роки тому +1

      160km speed is the best and balanced choice for most developing countries. Real high-speed railways are passenger trains dedicated and cost is higher. The Laos-China railway will be used for both passengers and cargo. I think the cargo transportation is also very important for Laos.

It needs no source just a common knowledge, I took a bullet train with 300 km/h but I had noticed that it slowed down to 150 km/h when in Fujian province which with tons of mountains.

      California high speed rail broke ground on January 2015 nearly 2 years before the Laos railway started constructed. California high speed rail is expected to start operating in 2029 and only the central valley route. They have no idea when the full route from San Francisco to Los Angeles will be completed because of a lack of funding.
